Samll improvements are all SP,
and in MP large improvements, but why still different? Because MP that's why, you can't control what other people will do..

Worse still, MP in empty servers will give out results that show Mantle in a much poorer light, as Johan Andersson said on B3D -

http://forum.beyond3d.com/showpost.php?p=1824143&postcount=905

you should ignore sites that test multiplayer on empty servers

Look out for those from the usual sites - many will no doubt find a way to make the worst of Mantle.

A new multiplayer test with a comparison with Nvidia as well
http://pclab.pl/art55953-3.html

I don't believe one should look too much into AMD's worse DirectX performance for BF4, AMD doesn't really have any incentive to make specific optimizations for BF4 DX when those cards will just use Mantle instead

Those high-end results are nothing like what we've seen recently on [H]. I'm thinking "empty server".

30% gain on a 290X with a 4770K.

20% gain on a 290X with overclocked 4770K.

Multiple reviews showing good gains now. Mantle delivers.

AMD had no way to test multiplayer, where the big gains were always likely to come.

I can't quite figure out if some people are being deliberately obtuse over this or just not seeing the simple facts.

At 1080p and below Mantle is going to be mind-blowing good - basically in any game. The main reason the gains fall off a cliff at 1600p and above is due to there being hardly any of the GPU optimizations done so far.

Everything you are seeing from BF4 Mantle is down to the basic CPU gains.

http://forum.beyond3d.com/showpost.php?p=1824246&postcount=956

The bolded parts are what matters.

Btw whoever asked (was it cloudfire777?) about what will happen with faster CPU's next year...the real question is what will happen with even faster GPUs, considering GPU increases at 10x the rate of CPU? Mantle is just going to improve with every year.

You are saying a review site has the resources to test multiplayer and amd doesn't? Seriously?

Multiplayer results are the wow factor:
(because of more CPU stress in these situations)

From: http://www.golem.de/news/amds-mantle-api-im-test-der-prozessor-katalysator-1402-104261-3.html

Core i7-3770K + 290x (tiny OC):

1920x1080 (no aa)
63,8 fps (dx11) vs 112,2 fps (mantle) (~75% perf. gain)

On smaller CPUs:

A10-7850k + 290:

DX11 = 31,9 fps
Mantle = 58,9 fps (~85% perf gain)

i3-4330 + 290:

dx11 = 43,3 fps
mantle = 79,7 fps (~84% perf gain)

Huge differnces in performance in multiplayer mode.

Now we just need to find someone who paired Hawaii with a dual core or APU.

This does not surprise. I think i5 systems stand to see the best gains, since they are lacking in BF4 multiplayer. I would of preferred to see at least a 270 used though.

That was singleplayer mission:
As is common practice, the same portion of the mission will be run three times and the results averaged.

Who cares. What matter is Mantle is aprox 50% faster where it matters most at the big maps. What is then also surprising is actually how cpu bound we often are at bf4. Its aparently at times a damn taxing game on your cpu.

Industry cares way more about low end and mainstream sector, 290x performance gains are bit of irrelevant for gaming industry, maybe not as much as 290X CF, but it still is.

But lets forget about all that for a moment, if mantle success, what do you think Nvidia and Intel will do? do you really belive they gona implement mantle?

Going for another solution does not help gamers, at all. Mantle is already not a good solution by itselft for AMD own cards, and im not talking about performance numbers here.

I dont know.
There are plenty of people buying high end GPUs. People always spend more money on the GPU then the CPU.

Also, so you are afraid that following the course of Mantle, Intel & Nvidia will come out with their own API.

So what..??
We have to ignore the performance gains of mantle just because Intel & Nvidia may make their own API.

Are telling us to blame mantle for the improvements it brings.?
No need to progress forward, just sit stagnated with whatever you got.

Agree. Useless results. But Mantle is still 50% faster in a typical setup in the huge maps where it matters most.

You might think about changing your signature

If you dont mind buying 2 cards thats fine, but im not gona do that.

If you believe Mantle only gains 1.8 fps going from an i3 to i7, which seems...not very likely. That looks like a flawed test.
wow any result in favor of mantle is true and where it expose mantle than it false so u have very nice logic indeed.

Im in two minds about MP BF4 testing.
It was pointed long in the past that there can be big difference in performance between runs.

Its not going to happen.

I assume by 2 cards you mean one for Mantle games & other for whatever Nvidia comes out with.

No, i will not buy 2 cards & this will be the stance of 95% of gamers.

You are talking about splitting the whole gaming induatry in half.

Not gonna happen since devs like to make money from both sides.

Uh, these are multiplayer tests apparently:

So now we need to find the 2 people in the world out of 6 billion who paired a 7850k with a GTX780 or 290X.

Can u post the link where it says it is 50% faster or if not than do be fanboy and dont provide false data.

U could get banned by false statement

Well i am sorry but the 50% is an understatement. You will easily get in a situation with 80% difference.

Arent you happy?

When that logic points out the tiny, miniscule, <2 fps increase going from a 4 thread to 8 thread CPU, it doesn't need to be very nice. Just plain old "standard logic" will do fine in these cases.
