Look at the small 280x-->290x gap. This is a heavy CPU limit here. Otherwise Mantle couldn't double the fps.
Actualy tests done with directx are flawed as BF4 use directx 11.1
features that are fully supported by the radeons while the gforce
are only directx 11.0 when running BF4....
You claim NVidia do not support DX11.1, and then provide statements saying that the GTX 680 SUPPORTS DX11.1 with hardware API feature level 11
Someone has their argument crisscrossed.. Anyway, Geforce cards DO support DX11.1 via hardware. The DX11.1 features Geforce cards don't support are the non gaming related features.
Ask yourself, if NVidia did not support DX11.1, why do NVidia cards gain more than AMD under Windows 8/8.1?
In the two above screenshots, you can see the two video cards we are using in this evaluation. The GeForce GTX 780 on the left side shows you the feature levels supported on the GTX 780 under Windows 8.1. You will find 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 10.0, 10.1, and 11.0. On the right side screenshot is the Radeon R9 290X, it supports 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 10.0, 10.1, 11.0, and 11.1. The DXDIAG tool shows you the 290X cards supported for the new DX 11.1 feature set. The GeForce GTX 780 does not support the 11.1 feature level in DirectX.
I would disagree that it makes sense as a basic gaming system.
You have a $200 CPU with a $120 GPU for a gaming system?
A 270X with a slower processor would make more sense for a gaming system, since that's a $200 GPU, which is where you want to allocate money for a gaming system really...
A 260X should go with a cheaper CPU, like a Core i3 or something from AMD.
If Developers are under Nvidia contract than neither developers or AMD cannot do any thing about it and if they do anything than they can both be sued big time because of contract ,terms and condition.
Why is everyone saying that Need For Speed: Rivals isn't getting mantle...
That slide says Need For Speed, nothing whatsoever about Rivals. They are not going to put it into that game because it was done long before Mantle's alpha test (bf4) was even ready for Mantle.
Stop with the FUD nonsense. Anyone with even the slightest clue would realize that they are talking about upcoming NFS games and not the last 15 years of NFS titles...

Because the developer has not confirmed or commented at all at this point that i'm aware of.

If BF4 receives Mantle update will it be easily available (if approvals will be ok) for future Frostbite 3 games just out of the box?

yes the plan is once Mantle in #BF4 is done it's part of Frostbite & mostly 'out of the box' to use the rest of our 15+ games
So is it worth me trading up a pair of Titans and a 3930K to get Mantle?

For sure. You should trade up to a 7850k and a 290X for one game and only one game. Oh, Thief. Two games. Just ignore the sub-par performance in the other 99.999% of games.

Mass Effect 1-3? What's the obvious difference here? Did those games use Frostbite 3? Uh, Let's not be obtuse. NFS Rivals is using Frostbite 3, hence the obvious conclusion that it would get Mantle. But it is not.
In fact, that entire studio, Ghost games studio, was recently let go by EA. They were all laid off, well nearly all of them according to Gamespot. So if there's another mysterious NFS game in the works please do let us know. But there's an obvious tie in here since NFS Rivals is actually using Frostbite 3, all of the developers were let go/laid off/re-shuffled to other studios (well, nearly all of them), the game has a 30 fps cap due to the framerate being tied to the physics engine, and is not getting Mantle. Also, all future NFS development was mothballed or put on hold according to Gamespot due to poor sales of the franchise. So if there's another NFS title using Frostbite 3 , aside from the obvious fact that NFS Rivals used Frostbite 3, please do fill us in.

If you could swap the Titans for Crossfire R9-290X, it would be a decent upgrade, especially in Mantle games- but I wouldn't really recommend it. Wait until the next generation of GCN cards comes out, on either 20nm or 16nm (depending on whether AMD skip 20nm). Then you'll be able to get a real upgrade, and Mantle will be more mature with improved drivers and hopefully many more Mantle games.
So a straight swap would be good? I play loads of games but do like BF4. Has Mantle made massive gains over a pair of Titans?
It would be silly to upgrade from dual titans at this point. The difference in terms of actual playability would be negligible at best. The only other reason I could see to dump titans right now would be to maximize their resale value.
How much do they go for used? I don't even know.

About $550-$650 on bs/t forums. Glad I dumped mine for $850 each.

What did you get to replace them?
