I didn't know Alouicious O'Hare posted here!

"Let it die, let it die, let it shrivel up and die!"

Not a classic but a respectable offering, at least.

Been around since the beginning, sad to see Anandtech go. It was a fun way to communicate and trade parts in the early days. Life goes on.

All forums are on life support. Web forums are the superior format, but everyone's gravitated to shitty forum-like things where you type stuff in, but it's soon gone, hard to find again, and virtually impossible to reference over time. It's like comparing the Library of Alexandria to chalk graffiti on the pub wall.

That said, AT forums are cool, and I'd like to see them stick around for a good while longer. There's still a place for forums for people that aren't idiots(and some that are), and AT is a good forum.
Indeed. The way forums like ATF function is way more relaxed. Allows one to work, to choirs, do a little thinking, sleep about it. Before responding.
To give at least an attempt to a meaningful answer.

Those hotrod social media outlets, like we see these days. I still get epileptic attacks while visiting reddit, either that or i go in rampage mode : "HULK SMASH !".
I cringe when thinking about facebook and other useless stuff. Anyone ever tried Jira ?
Perhaps Jira works that well, but certainly not in an ad hoc way without analyzing :

  • What is needed ?
  • What do we have ?
  • How do we get where we want to be ?
  • Profit in harmony.
And i feel like most modern social media platforms, this way of thinking has been abundant in the favor of being 24/7 under the influence of all kinds of hallucinogenic stuff...

I haven’t visited these forums in years, but as you can see on my profile, I’ve been a member for 22 years. I used to really enjoy this place, learned a lot, contributed, and even met a few people in real life.

I left because the moderators turned into a bunch of jerks who had power go to their heads, including making it against the rules to talk about the moderators. The mods eventually started supporting trolls and banning quality, contributing members. I even got a temporary ban for calling them out on it, because remember, AnandTech moderators don’t make any mistakes and they are 100% infallible!

But I saw the news that AnandTech is finally shutting down. Then I saw that the forums aren’t shutting down? Weird.

Well, this site and these forums *were* awesome a very long time ago. Somewhere between then and now, the content went to 💩 and the forum moderators ended up stroking their own egos at the expense of pushing people away.

I’d rather see AnandTech completely dead than to see what it has become, and that includes the forum.

Just kill it; it is time. It’s already on life support.
Just do not visit. You would be fine , not ?
We would be happy !

Exactly, this is the only SoMe post in regularly. I don't get bombarded with what some dumb algorithms want to feed me, I can easily find a track the topics I'm interested in, and it is not filled with commercials.
