You people know graphics rendering technology literally has had life saving benefits, right? Its paved the way for medical technology that literally saves lives on a daily basis now, and that's actually improving. And that's if you don't even count benefits that 3D modeling has brought, to say automobile safety or a litany of other things where graphics rendering alone has drastically improved things.
Also, uh weird that you clowns suddenly want to demonize gaming when gaming companies are now looking to start implementing crypto bullshit. So which is it, crypto great and is gonna revolutionize everything and save the world or is gaming a 50x worse evil because...well gee you're intellectually dishonest and think people arguing that something that wastes tons of electricity for no positive benefit is worse than something that might use more electricity than that, but provides at least some actual benefits for society is somehow a flawed argument?
Hell, its like you people think gamers don't care about electricity use. I'd be all for pushing efficiency in gaming. Fucking tax that shit for those externalities. Just tax the everloving fuck out of crypto since its only purpose so far is to help douchebags try to evade paying taxes. Guess what would happen if people actually had to pay taxes on crypto. It'd die almost instantly as there would be no benefit to it for even the financial speculation.
So don't move the goalposts. His assertion was "PC Gaming uses 50 times the amount of electricity than GPU miners. "
I added in console gamers, which is probably quite a bit of power worldwide. Now add in mobile. Gaming absolutely dwarfs mining in power usage.
And? Are you really trying to argue that pegging GPU use at 100% for mining is better than pegging it at 100% for game rendering? If you think gaming is bad because electricity, there's no argument you can make that mining is better in any way. You can believe that gaming provides no benefit over mining if you want, but at minimum your argument is completely stupid to try and demonize gaming but defend mining. Your best argument is that both are complete wastes, which uh, talk about un-intended effects, you crypto-evangelists think that making the argument that GPUs are only used entirely for wasteful purposes is going to cause you any positives? You're basically making the argument that GPUs themselves should be outright banned because they are just complete wastes in how you are using them. So you apparently want to piss away your mining use in order to justify saying that well gaming is just as wasteful. Which, uh, either you people didn't actually spend anytime thinking about this or you really are just so oblivious that you're willing to enable the thing you're arguing against, plus spite yourselves, just so you can stick out your tongue at people correctly pointing out that crypto provides nothing beneficial that couldn't also be accomplished entirely by ditching all of the wasteful aspects of crypto. You can rampantly speculate on tons of things, using far less electricity to do so. In fact the silliest part is that some of you have spent tens of thousands in order to get into a speculative market, ignoring that you could've just invested that money directly into other speculative markets and been likely as well if not better off.
I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. If you were honest, I would have much less issue. Just admit you want to bypass paying taxes and are purely in crypto because of the hope for windfall of money from rampant speculation. Instead we get ever evolving arguments that range from laughably absurd ignorance to straight up lying, all of which are stupid if you spend literally any time actually thinking about those arguments. Just be honest about it. No need to try to punch elsewhere either. Just own it. On the scale of awful shit, your crypto fanaticism is probably not much worse than that from your normal day to day living, poisoning the planet.
LOL at "illegal crypto"
If crypto was squeaky clean and never used for something illegal, all the haters would be saying "It's not a real currency until you can buy drugs or launder money with it!"
Do you even listen to yourself?
