Er you realize you're spouting the exact same garbage the people that inflated housing markets, dotcom, etc, did, before those bubbles burst, right? Just because people like you are still desperately propping it up doesn't mean its not still a bubble. I mean, they're still fluffing GameStop and AMC, openly admitting its out of spite now even.

it is being used regularly in places like south America and Africa where govt currencies have gone to shit.

Citation needed.

Oh wow, 3 startups, stop the presses.

Also, uh, did you read your own article? (That's rhetorical, I know you didn't bother).

For many crypto enthusiasts around the world, decentralised and digital currency is primarily about ideology or profit.

"I trust more mathematics and software than I trust politicians," Mr Ferrer explains. "I think that Bitcoin for Argentinians should be a no-brainer."

Just desperate people having to deal with economic turmoil. Does he trust people like SBF? Because we see how trusting "mathematics and software" goes when its managed by people like that.

Oh and there's this:
There are other ways that the strong government intervention in the economy has helped cryptocurrency gain a footing in Argentina. For example, it's relatively cheap to run an energy-guzzling Bitcoin mining operation, because the cost of electricity is kept relatively low.

Actually that entire article is hilarious, but not surprising since its from a year ago before we saw the reality of the absolute fraud that has been the driving force behind the crypto valuations (which we haven't even really begun to see just how much that will impact things). Mining has dropped out massively. The article even mentions it was cryptobros there driving the adoption of crypto, which means they're either now losing out because of the frauds, or are the frauds in which case its the same shit by a different name. But I guess at least its young douchebags instead of politicians fleecing people of money...

I think you missed the point. When was the last time BTC was below $7k ? Not once since he called $7k the definition of a bubble. And that was 7 years ago.

Adoption is up, it continues to go up, fucking cope.

Desperately? Where do you get desperately from? BTC could go to zero tomorrow and I've still beaten most stocks over the same time period.

If there's desperation in this thread it's not from the BTC supporters.

You need a citation for Argentina's currency problems?

How does bringing up a scammer discredit BTC? There are plenty more scammers using dollars than BTC, so the point is kind of moot isn't it? Liz Homes scammed people for dollars, SVB mismanaged dollars, Signature bank mismanaged dollars.

And someone else lost. That's not a currency; it's gambling.
So don't buy it.

When people make gains in the stock market, someone else loses, right?

Is your argument here to get me to stop trading crypto? Like what are you actually trying to convince me of here? Because the haters in here are just spewing hate for hates sake and grasping at straws to "prove" something. What exactly, I'm still not sure.

Enjoy your gambling. Just don't expect anyone to think it is anything but gambling. Bitcoin isn't a currency and it isn't backed by any productive activity, it's, you know, gambling. Once all the travel costs and flashing lights and beeping machines are taken into consideration, crypto might be a less energy intensive form of gambling than going to a casino. Would need an energy audit to confirm.

Trust me. Nobody here gives a shit what you do with your money.

They are just calling crypto what it is and you are arguing with them because you don't know what it is.

People do get paid in bitcoin, and people sell products and services in bitcoin. Therefore it is "backed" by productive activity as much as any currency.

Is there a lot of speculation, FOMO, and kids hoping to get rich? Sure, but those same kids bid up a bunch of companies on Robin Hood exactly the same way. There is no more credibility to either case. It's not like these realities are a revelation to anyone.

Which economies are backed by Bitcoin? What government will accept it as currency? Can I readily transfer funds between Bitcoin and other currencies? How big are Bitcoin exchanges relative to other monetary exchanges? What kind of organizations are bitcoin's customers/users? Are large, global entities doing business in Bitcoin?

Which economies are backed by Bitcoin? What government will accept it as currency?
Well the USA for one, US Treasury has held this stance on bitcoin since 2013: "The Treasury has defined Bitcoin as a convertible currency with an equivalent value in real currency or one that can act as a substitute for it. "

Several other countries have explicitly legalized it, accept it as tax payment, and have even added it to reserve holdings.
Can I readily transfer funds between Bitcoin and other currencies?
Yes, and typically easier and cheaper than you can dollars.
How big are Bitcoin exchanges relative to other monetary exchanges?
Well I was going to compare volumes of certain exchanges, like Coinbase, to a currency exchange like Forex but then I learned Forex is trading BTC now with govt currencies as well.
What kind of organizations are bitcoin's customers/users?
Everything from small time users up to international mega corps.
Are large, global entities doing business in Bitcoin?
Yes!
