A well-known U.S. anti-kidnapping expert has himself fallen victim to the wave of abductions in Mexico as unidentified assailants snatched him from a street in the northern state of Coahuila. Local authorities say American Felix Batista was in Mexico to give talks and offer advice against kidnapping. The former U.S. army officer sometimes serves as a negotiator with kidnappers.

I'd be interested in how exactly he is an anti-kidnapping expert and what his methods are. I'd also like to know how exactly he was kidnapped.

Well, I assume even an anti-kidnapping expert knows that most (and probably none other than solitary confinement ) methods aren't full-proof.

He was probably pissing off too many kidnappers and they all conspired against him. Ironic yes, but sad nonetheless as kidnapping will surge without him. Of course he could have set up his own kidnapping expecting a rise in cases, "escape" his kidnappers and then demand more $$$ for his help.

Indeed, they found a whole in his operations. His strategy definitely was not hair-tight, I would say, it definitely had some hoopholes to be exploited.
