Unlike most games I don't think it matters a lick. Which is probably why EA keeps it on Origin. If not for Battlefield, no one would even install Origin methinks.

An increasing number of games share the engine though and presumably will require Origin as well. Still, if not for Battlefield it could not have become such a core technology.

I want to play the single player campaign for BF4 (the trailer looked EPIC!), but I don't want to pay the full price for the game since I don't do online gaming. Guess I'll have to wait for a price drop or sale.

You really need to change your mentality. I currently have over 700 hours into BF3. I still suck, but I've definitely gotten my monies worth. Play with some fellow ATers and have a blast.

That's actually one of the reasons why I don't play online. Too much of a time sink. With kids, I have to carefully manage the amount of time I spend gaming.

The other reason is cheaters..

Understandable. I pretty much only play in the winters. Not much else to do when you're stuck in snow country.

If you worry about cheaters you will never enjoy a online game.

Wow lots of news, it took me a while to catch up on the BF4 thread this morning. Ive been so busy covering for guys out with the flu or some crud that I havent been able to to do my usual forum lurking, let alone play anything. Those bums had better get well before Tuesday!

Whoa, did anyone else see the EoR screen for LevelCap's video (10m06s)? It showed the attacking MCOMs and the tickets for the defending team. Does that give a bit more options for winning a rush mode?

Also, I think Deadfred and I will look forward to Operation Locker. Infantry only combat in a prison set on a mountain top.

Ive never been so excited to go to prison!

Those vids look awesome, cant wait to try out the little bird cannons.

Good guess on the prison map!

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.

GMG keys are available now. Just activated my BF4 premium. Under games in my account it said no key available, but clicked on download and it took me to a page where my premium key was listed. Likely the same deal if you bought the base game through them.

Check your GMG accounts if you bought any BF4 there!

I'm not a big fan on Origin game layout screen, hard to really tell what you get until you get used to it. Wish you could just list games, then have a + to show adons (expansions) under it.

The download is 25gigs, but I wonder if that includes anything for the DLC content or if that comes later. It sounds almost like they got some of it done already. This game could potentially clock in 30+ gigs when all is said and done.

BF3 is 34.2GB's, I expect BF4 to surpass that.

BF3 launched for ~20GB and about 3-4GBs per expansion/DLC. Totaling to ~34GBs.
BF4 is launching for ~30GB, I expect expansions/DLCs to be 4-5GBs each. Expecting 50GBs.

Amazon just sent out their keys as well.

EDIT: I wonder if the beta stats are going to be reset. Origin says I've played BF4 for 14 hours...

Its odd how I think taking 45min to download a game is BS. Then I remember I used to have dialup and smile.

I remember when I upgraded from dial up to DSL & that was a huge leap...then Comcast cable joined the party...never looked back. I remember how long it used to take to download small files on dial up. In saying that, I'm certainly not going to complain about downloading BF4 at 8 Mb/s.

Installing software still used to take about that long. Installs used to be on multiple floppies, then multiple CDs. I think I still have my first 1X CDROM drive. And it used to take hours to download WAD files from BBSs over dialup. I guess in a way things never change.

Had to deal with Origin support for it to take my GMG key, but they were able to manually add it to my account and the pre-load is underway at over 2MB/sec, so I have no complaints. Origin chat started rocky, but quickly turned into a resolution that satisfied my desire for competence in my customer service reps.
