So many servers are so laggy. I didn't really see any laggy servers in the beta.

What mode where you playing where you could get 40 kills? Most of the servers seem to have the ticket count low, at least on Rush and Domination. Rounds are like 5 min.

Obliteration on siege of Shanghai. Wiping out waves and waves of dumbass bushwookies on the roof thanks to a chopper pilot smart enough to drop us off there lol.

Using my ipad as a minimap is pretty cool. I just need to get some sort of stand for it so it can be right next to my monitor.

Anyone playing the single player campaign? How is it?

I just finished the Shanghai mission and so far it's okay, nothing special at this point. The squad AI is not the best, they have a tendency to hang back. The enemy AI is just plain stupid sometimes. There have been a couple of times where they have run right past one of my squad members just to rush me. There was another time where I walked up right behind an enemy soldier and he turned around and looked at me, and did nothing. He just stared at me and then turned around. After I took him out then everyone decided to wake up. For the most part though they do a decent job of taking cover.

You earn different guns along the way which you can change out with weapons cache's which are spread out through the area usually.

In regards to the story there is not much given at the beginning, they just kind of plop you in there with minimal background information at first.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

trying the drivers that came out yesterday, i had the ones that came out last week.

670gtx, the game ran amazingly smooth at ultra, 24" asus 120hz

I see you have all those different colors on the ceiling, do you have that all the time? At first I couldn't even play because I was getting a strobe light effect with all those different colors. I updated my drivers to the new ones and it fixed it.

...6 MINUTES!
How big do you think bf4 is going to blow up on Twitch?

Itll be like any new big name game....tons of streams and viewers for a week or two then itll die off. Plenty of people stream it just to show it off and plenty of people (ie me) watch the streams to see if it looks like something i would enjoy. GTA5 was like that

- multiplayer taking like 1-2 mins to load a map - is this typical?
- what's the difference between an official server and a ranked server? I don't see any hardcore servers?
- origin login vs. "tag" - what do other players see and what's the purpose of setting a tag? Is that like a clan name? Can you change your origin loginname?
- seems the latest Radeon drivers for 7800 series on Vista 64 is version 13.4 and the game warns it wants 13.9 every time. Do I have to live with this? Do drivers catch up for the old OS'?
- video settings on 1900x1200 and auto settings (mostly medium) has slight stutter after a while. Do I want to mostly reduce video settings or resolution ?

I played about an hour of single player last night - it's pretty cinematic. Some of the "sets" really do a great job of showing off what the engine is capable of. From what I've read it's short - about 4-5 hours, which is good since you have to play it to unlock certain weapons. The AI is pretty stupid though. I'm playing on Normal, not sure if Hard is any more of a challenge.

I selected the Ultra pre-set, it definitely looks amazing even without fine-tuning any graphics options beyond that.

i5 2500K @ 4.2
2x GTX 670 SLI
8GB DDR3
SSD
2560x1440

I was getting ~50fps pretty consistently. There was one part of the first mission where it dipped into the 30s but just briefly. I'll probably have to turn a few options down for multi though. Hopefully some newer SLI profiles will come out soon that will help.

If you're launching from Battlelog it can take a while for it to load for the first time. Once you're in the maps generally load pretty fast after that, like when starting the next round. This is my experience from BF3 anyway, I haven't played 4 online yet. I'm also playing from an SSD.

Tag is for clan names. People in game see your Origin name. I'm not sure if you can change it like you can on Steam.

If you're playing online I'd try to reduce some video settings. Shadows are usually one of the first things I'll crank down to low when playing online if I have performance issues. I've found that everything is happening so fast you don't have time to stop and admire the amazing lighting effects anyway

Finally got some game time in this morning. Looks and runs great although one server I tried had some awful rubber banding going on, the others ran fine. Running everything on Ultra with AA off @ 1920x1200 on my OC'd 2500K and 670 SLI machine, smooth as silk.

I do believe the Prison map is gonna be a favorite, had a very nice game of conquest there. The TDM games I tried I sucked at, mainly because I dont know the maps yet and some of those guys were level 9 already and just camping it up in all the best spots. LOL

Finally figured out how to use the XP boosts, but only by accident. After dying once it didnt automatically take me back to the deploy screen, so I had to hit escape and resume. Once I hit escape I saw the boost ready to be applied doo hickey and clicked it. So much to do and try with so little time, I feel like a kid at Christmas.

Played for a bit last night. I agree it looks, sounds and runs great. I was surprised to be able to run at High settings and get fps in the 60+ with a GTX 580 and 3770K at 1920x1200.

Only played on a shitty island map. Had one issue of getting glitched into a ship-wreaked destroyer. I couldn't figure out how to commit suicide to get out.

If you're looking for a place to play, like BC2 and BF3, my group has a BF4 server based in Chicago - The Candy Van - High Points, Fast Rank.

We're rotating all the maps but have custom settings. All will be tweaked based on feedback from folks playing.

Anyone not able to purchase it through GMG? It goes through the processing then says, "Oops, we cannot compute! Can you please check your card details and enter them again? Thanks"
But my details are correct...

now im getting:

"Oh nooo!
There has been a problem with your order.

Please contact us here and we'll help you out."

Have you tried using paypal? There seems to be less of these issues with paypal versus a credit carrd.

Thanks people, GMG still has the $48 deal going for another 12 hours so I got in, any estimates how long it takes to get the key?

I actually had people text me how about how much they like it so I just had to get it.

Check your order confirmation email. I ordered through GMG on Friday and within a couple minutes received the confirmation email which had the key in it.

Updating drivers fixed the artifacts. Game runs great on 2600k 670gtx 6gb ddr3 24" 120hz Asus.

Really impressed.

What res are you running at by chance?

Also, has anyone messed with the res scaler for supersampling in the video settings yet? I cranked it up to 200% and it was a literal slide show. I think I'm running the game at 130% now but I have yet to monitor the frame rate yet.

At any rate, the game looks and feels more like BF2 (which is my fave BF game to date) but I still suck so some things never change.

Played the first part of the campaign this morning. Was able to stay above 60fps on ultra with my desktop. Didn't really mess around with monitoring CPU, GPU or RAM usage, just fired up Fraps.

The server lagging is really annoying, like you take two steps forward and two steps back.

Anyone notice they changed the sprint speed? Seems very slow now.
They also did not fix double muzzle fire from rifles.

So far i've got TEN battlebacks. We put out holiday AXE packs with BF4 coupons for battlebacks in them, I asked person buying them last night if i could have it got 4 of them. rofl

Even thought i'm getting 60fps on my GTX 580, it "feels" lower, even though screen shows it. Might be the rubberbanding going on atm. Hope they fix it by Friday

Played for a few hours last night. Here are my quick thoughts:

What I liked:
Game mechanics/gun movement, etc. Feels more like BC2 to me, which I liked.
The water/boats/swimming is very nicely done. Very cool, very fun. Surprised more games haven't implemented this previously. Very immersive.
The default AT rocket is very nice.
Game runs super smooth on my system (signature) with mixture of high/medium and no AA.
5 man squads is much better than 4 man squads
Levolution - breaking loose the carrier and following it into the island was a "hell yes!" moment.
The changing weather on Parcel Storm was very cool - hope more maps implement this.
More desctruction than BF3.
Have only played each map once but for the most part liked them.

What I didn't like:
A lot of items can't be destructed. Levolution is cool but then you fire rockets at a piece of glass and all that happens is a puff of smoke. Huh?
About 1-2 crashes per hour
Audio problems, mainly cutting in and out
Tons of verticality to the maps - lame ass snipers on roofs are annoying
Tons of places to hide - campers will excel

Overall had a great time last night and looking forward to more.

Some of the open maps have a cheesy feel to them. I sense some cheese somehow. A feeling of cheapness. I only played a little so we'll see.

I'm also on a 1366 Hex core. Just running the thing stock (i7 970)

What OS are you on and what about core parking?

I'm on W7 HP x64. core parking? pardon my ignorance but i don't even know what that means, but I will research it tonight. I'm assuming that this is done under power options in the CP?

I and my friends (four of us last night) had zero issues of rubberbanding/server lag during the entire night of playing. Sounds like it might be something on your end.

Liquid smooth performance on a 780GTX with an i5-2500k @ 4.6; marked improvement over beta. Still getting crashes (might be driver update) as well as audio-cutouts on a certain map (apparently it's a known issue).

Played one mission of SP, no performance issues other than a hitch when the game autosaves.

Graphics (lighting in particular) are a noticable improvement. Sound is even better. Biggest change is map design; levels are more fluid, more vertical, and there are no clusterfucks like the stairs in Metro. I'm digging the map design (if not my gaming performance :'()
