That was an AWESOME E3 demo.

Loved that they are bringing back Commander. Anyone else notice the commander was using a tablet?

The part where they blew out the road support and dropped the tank underground was cool.

The mind blowing part for me was when they knocked over that 100 story building in the middle of the map. Freakin amazing!

I wonder what view was the commander mode in (the bottom left corner of the commander screen). Is it from the the commander himself in the world, or is it a selected squad leader? I'm hoping for the latter.

I just preordered. The graphics are AWESOME, and the gameplay cannot be worse than BF3, which is good enough for me to get it.

The demo was scripted as hell, and still looked amazing.
Hoho!

Does Origin preorder charge right now or upon release? I am not sure if I want to go with Amazon or Origin for my preorder.

Scripted is right, you'll never see a bunch of pub players play like that.

I LOL'd at the tank going just to the right place at the right time and then not even firing while they C4'd them. And if I had been in that attack helo as either pilot or gunner that squad would have never made it inside that skyscraper to begin with.

Will be interesting to see how the commander mode works out, considering how most people play the game.

I hope all the buildings are destructible, it would be awesome flying helo's through and taking out floors or even entire buildings right out from under loser camping snipers. cough- "Moonbog" -cough

So, I got home and watched the multiplayer video and I am preordering. At worst, it will be BF3, which I enjoy a lot. At best, it will be BF2+BF3 with better graphics, which I will enjoy a lot.

Joygasm. I've been to Pudong multiple times, but I've never had the chance to blow up a skyscraper before! Finally, my dreams can be realized!*

I hope following commander and squad leader orders are incentivized again. Unfortunately, most people need to get herded in the right direction to produce a more cooperative gameplay experience.

WTF was that bit with the tablet? was that ingame or out of game

The Commander mode is a tablet based functionality that allows you to command the squad and launch some weaponry, probably on a cooldown. You get to pick the targets the squad attacks and such.

Yeah, it looks like it. Who knows what tablet either. They didn't announce if it was Windows 8 only or iPad, Android also.

I doubt that a tablet is required. I imagine it's just a chance to get EA inside people's tablets.

While I think that functionality is interesting, I don't think that came from the Dev side. That seems like marketing getting involved directly and pushing for something beyond just the PC.

Actually, one of the biggest complaints about commander mode in BF2 was that it took that player out of the game. Calling up the commander control panel basically forced the commander to hide in a corner of the map.

I think the use of an external device is brilliant. Assuming it works on any external pad-like product, including smartphones, I'd wager that just about everyone playing BF4 will have access to one.

I say bring it on...this is the future of war!

BTW, I love the verticality of these maps. Totally different from anything we've seen before, because it's in buildings. It was one thing to have tall buildings in the background like in BF3, but it's another thing totally to jump out of a 100-story building while it's coming down.

It seems like a really bad idea. Last thing I want is some casual fighting over the commander position 'cause they can play it on a tablet. I hope you can turn that off as a server option.

True, but from the video of it they had some girl playing it at an airport or something. Like you didn't need to be at a PC at all.

That was a good thing. Commanders shouldn't be actively fighting considering the game changing powers they have at their disposal.
