For the FOV, I think it is like BF3 and like BC2 before it where it is actually Vertical FOV so you don't need to crank it up. I personally like the default FOV since it was set to the same customized to in BF3/BC2.

Its just bad in general. I haven't crashed tonight, but there was a server crash. Cost me my M98.

We had around 10 ATers on that WDA server.

I don't know what it is but some days are just terrible for me. I crashed 4 times in 3 maps while playing with you today and once last night. This morning - no crashes through (3) 30 min rounds.

Come to think of it - most of my crashes are when I am in the same game as you. What the hell man?

I use an FOV of 84, which is a horizontal FOV of 110 (on 16:10). That's probably close to the max you want to go otherwise things start to distort a bit.

hehe I also noticed some of you guys you always crash, like you, McLovin and AznAnarchy99, but I dont. There are also some guys I can usually play with all night like raasco and Phx. It would be funny if it was something odd like friends using Windows 7 vs Windows 8 thing, or because of the battlelog plugin chrome vs ie vs firefox. I dont think I've crashed when solo in a long time. It was usually when I join peoples games, but that could just be coincidental.

I haven't crashed in over a week. I haven't done anything special other than unparking cores. I also just happen to use chrome as my browser, but I'm sure that has nothing to due with it.

Is it usb? I'm guessing that you have the in game transmit volume maxed along with the Windows ones?

i have both a USB mic (headset) Steelseries Serbia v2 and a stand alone desktop mic that runs over a normal stereo jack

ive tried both, both look like they are working in windows sound settings (the bars move when i talk and whatnot) however no one can hear me in game

if i check the option in the mic settings that says "listen to this device" i can hear myself through my own speakers so i assume they are working

VOIP volume in game is maxed

Check your audio inputs by recording something in the basic windows sound recorder (start-sound recorder). If it doesn't work there it's a windows problem, if it works there but not in game it's a game setting.

I'm down to two types of crashes both are fairly rare.

Either BF4 "stops working" loading a level, I suspect it's PB, or I get a stuttering video/audio issue (sounds like a DJ is scratching a record ever .25 seconds) over and over. Sometimes the latter hard locks my PC.

Same. I still crash. Memory leak hasn't been to bad lately. Once it stops crashing this game would be amazing.

I'd add that reinstalling punkbuster (located in the BF4 install folder) is another common bug fix.

This may help noobis getting his mic working since it sounds like a game setting, dunno. There's also several binding fixes you can run in there if your keys get jacked up, I know one person said their space was fire+move up in a jet (or something similar). I noticed a VOIP volume setting which is nie, and separate vertical/horizontal FoV if you wanted to jack around with that.

edit: This also lets you import your BF3 settings or BF4 beta, may be a little late because most people have them set already but it's there.

Well, I'm finding it near impossible to improve my Skill rating. I can have a few decent games, but pretty much any crash and I get hit for > -10 loss.

The "Skill" stat actually has a brand new algorithm behind it that's very different from BF3 and is much more focused on PTFO

Are you playing objectives? Following orders? Skill used to be something like: if I kill you it goes up based on my skill vs your skill. If you were low skill it didn't move much, if you killed me, I went down and you go up. Higher difference=higher movement.

I'm sure the new system uses this as well, but adds objectives to the mix somehow.

Agreed, but Im starting to get used to it. I was more compelled to switch to 60 not so much on the clipping distance that the video explained but more for the reason that I will be able to better aim at targets since they will appear larger on my screen from the same distance in 60 FOV vs 90

Thats true but I felt so limited in peripheral vision after being at 90 that I bumped it back up to 75 for now, I may try to work my way on down later.

I think it actually helped dropping from 90 to 74. KD went up .1, and its climbing. I dont mind the tunnel vision since I play with blinders anyway. :biggrin: But its hard to say, and I'm not trying weapons anymore, I think I have what I need.
