Picked up BF4 today. Runs silky smooth but crashes (along with Chrome) every single round. DirectX error, it seems to be a known issue.

I see a lot of Google results but I can't find any fix. All my drivers are up-to-date and system is 100% stable otherwise.

Any help here, guys?

Try running the DX setup in the BF4 folder. Heard the original install doesn't get all the files. When I run it, it wrote a few files.

What is the best way for a noob to gently get into multi-player battlefield? I've only played offline fps and I'm not that great.

I'm using the upper system in my sig. Is it normal for my 7970 fans to spin loudly during the campaign? I was using the medium setting and my system is not overclocked.

Gently? There is nothing gentle about this game in multiplayer. Trial by fire!!!

Add some ATers to your friends list and jump in and start playing. I guess you can youtube for tips and tricks, learn the maps, etc. but nothing beats just playing it.

I think I had a round with a kd ratio in the positive this morning! Wonder of wonders! Now the works settling down I can enjoy the game and get more time in.
I am not a fan of TDM, more of a conquest or flag cap, objective orientated games.

Anyone else have an issue where it shows you leveled up in the game during the after-battle report, but then in Battlelog it says you still need a couple more points before leveling up?

Also, for those who play hardcore, do you have the issue where the friendly squad leader labels (triangle above player with the star) don't show up right away? I've shot at and killed friendly squad leaders more than I want to know because of this...

Yes and yes. Last night I hit level 46, went to open my battle pack between rounds, nothing there. Next level, a few kills in, hit level 46 again. As for hardcore, I think that's just part of hard core settings. I don't see that in custom servers with many of the hard core settings enabled.

Yah i've actually been having problems with friendlies not showing up right away. I remember this happening in BF3 before.

Anyone know the right steps to get SweetFX to work with BF4? I "think" its working when i run it, but not really sure. lol Do i have to drop the DLL files into BF4 directory, or just running the configure is doing it?

I hate getting killed by DMRs for sure. Its always pew pew pew with heavy suppression as some noobish punk spams you to death. Ive been trying to use them in a more gentlemanly fashion by camping and going for one shot kills to the head. :biggrin:

hehe I feel like such a scumbag for using a DMR. I can just imagine the guys I killed cursing me out. Funny thing is my skill rose 30 points, and I just spam fire like a retard.

DMR's get out classed easily by assault rifles, especially with the SCAR-H. The good thing is that it is a good time to unlock the DMR's since it is 2x exp.

Yeah, the only reason I am working on them now is because of double xp.

I just added a second 7970 and installed a fresh copy of win 8.1, now I'm crashing to desktop every round after joining the server. I did the dxsetup as suggested in http://www.reddit.com/r/Battlefield/comments/1q14u9/bf4_i_have_multiple_fixes_that_make_the_game_90/, updated punkbuster, etc.

Currently running 13.11 beta 9.4 drivers but also tried 13.9. Does 13.11 actually support 7970? It says here http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+7+-+64

I ended up getting a refund from Origin. I spent 4 hours trying everything I could find online regarding DX crashes in BF4. They offered to have a specialist contact me in 3 weeks..

Otherwise the game looked and ran great. Just too many other games to play to let one piss me off.

I ended up joining a ATOT crowded conquest game last nite on Golmud. Poor enemy, never got to hold more than 2 objectives.

I've been having abnormal amount of crashes today and yesterday. Mostly right at the end of the round. I once crashed upon hitting quit, which almost made me laugh hysterically.

I bought this during yesterdays Black Friday sale for $24.99, and it's crashed on nearly every match I've tried to play. Think I've been able to finish 3 matches in total, the rest have crashed.

do unlocks in the tank take forever for some reason or is that just me. In the LAV and Boat i make 1 cap and kill a cpl people and i unlock like 8 things, in the tank i kill 10 people and make a bunch of caps and get maybe 1 unlock

Server lag and cheater wise i havent had issues. Try the =u= rock servers. They seem to be lag free and cheater free for me.

Now for the random crashes...those still happen

Not too many run ins with cheaters at least that I can tell. But a lot of shitty netcode. I have to spend a while each time to find the server for me where when I shoot someone in the face they actually die instead of other servers where I empty mag loads of lead into people, see hit markers, but no kill. This to me is the worst part of BF4

the U rock servers are not lag free, it really seems to be map dependent IMO, but they are generally pretty good

ive only been killed by people aimbotting or shooting through walls a cpl times

Never had that problem, filter it by region.
I've yet to see a cheater in game, at least obvious ones like you did in Bf3.
