Snipers and DMR unlocking is killing my K/D ratio. Dropped .02 points lol. Gotta get it back to 1.91 where I had it in BF3

You can always reset them when you are done unlocking.

And whoever designed Rush for Dragon Pass is an idiot.

Found a shotty, pistol and knives server last night. Finally started working on the unlocks for shotguns.

Jumped the gun on the G430 headset and a G105 keyboard. Will post back once I've tried them out.

I have a Sennheiser PC360 headset connected to a Xonar Essence ST sound card. Since the beginning on TS with friends in various games, they all say they hear nearly constant background noise from my end, and I have never been able to cure it.

I'm primarily looking for better positional sound, I assume the G430 will be a good upgrade with 7.1 sound, even if it's simulated? My mobo's got a built in Realtek chip

I'm pretty disappointed with the positional sound in BF4. Still can't hear people running around behind you. So don't think it'll help you from getting knifed in the back.

Anyone else with me on this?

Hm. I have a Xonar Essence and I've had it on the HiFi setting for years from a thread from a thread on Head-Fi.org. Should I be using the Dolby ProLogic IIx/Dolby Virtual Speaker/7.1 Virtual setting?

Well, you can try them and see if it its better. I had always been using the DP IIx since BF3. I don't know if Xonar Essence does Dolby Digital live but I specifically got the Xonar D1 for that. With it, it outputs Dolby Digital from games.

I got a used G930 for $25 off of craiglist but I have not tried that yet for BF4.

Not to sound like I have stock in Dolby, but with DD, positional sound is a lot better. Of course, I still get the occasional stabs in the back as I fail to react fast enough to sounds coming from behind.

I still can't hear people running up from behind me either. So I'm always turning around looking behind me and getting shot from the way I was just looking towards :/

I enjoyed the new maps, and I even found an easter egg! Forgot the name of the map, but I think it was the dragon one. On one of those pillars in the center (great sniping post BTW) there is a little china man figurine.
The maps are pretty fun. They do feel almost like an armored fury type thing, but still good for infantry fights. Anyway I like them. That heights map or whatever its called gets laggy on the FPS, especially in that rock tunnel.

Not a fan of the new maps except for Guilin Peaks.

Dragon Pass is not bad but only decent

The others are just camping + air fests worse than any map that came with release.

Probably the worst map is Silk Road. Bring tent and sleeping bag for that god awful map. Or prepare to run in circles like a headless chicken trying desperately to defend D as infantry.

And I'm kinda on the fence with these new maps. Dragon Pass looks nice, but they are all so vehicle centric I dont think I'll play them, except for maybe Domination.

Heh, yup been there, brother.

The other huge annoyance is you are running towards some destination about to pass a corner and by the time you barely get a glimpse of another player coming around that corner (let alone being able to identify friend or foe) you see the death screen accompanied by a short burst of gunfire. wtf?

It is particularly annoying for me because I am typically the person with lowest ping on the server and whenever I remember to check the guy who kills me has more than 30 - so usually I will think the person is hacking (location hack + aimbot)

Not only does just 1 of my 3 point blank shotgun shots register, and somehow for only 40 instead of 100+, but the guy never actually shoots where I was. Wide left, then at the freaking floor. In fact, he isnt even firing when I die. The game just goes batshit every now and then. In slow mo I can maybe understand it a bit, but not in real time.

You don't always get a hit marker.

Enemy health on the killcam is wrong more than it's right in "bang bang plays".

The first shot was a straight up miss imo. The second shot was a hit, but not a good one (clipped his shoulder essentially). I would be surprised if the third actually 'counted' and fired, I think your client played the sound but I doubt the projectiles fired.

And you can't rely on where other players actually "appear" to be looking or shooting. But you can bet they're actually hitting you, yeah.

It's not just behind you. There is no soldier sounds period and gunshot sounds not only lack positional variances, but also totally lack environmental and distance effects. There is no way to tell precisely where gunshots are coming from, it's limited to simply being somewhere towards your left or right. 90% of my deaths are instant-death-out-of-nowhere because I have no idea what is going on around me. I'll frequently be in a room surrounded by squad mates and half a second later get shot in the back, it's retarded.

I think audio is helpful for the most part but I do feel like there's a deadzone or something behind your character. I've gotten roadkilled by a few vehicles that I swear I didn't hear (from almost straight behind me each time) and I don't think I've ever heard someone behind me going for a knife. However I find positional audio in the 'front' to be quite useful generally.

That's the "don't shoot until you are fully ADS or you get hip fire accuracy while ADS". Your first shot hits the container before your scope is up at around :03 seconds. Notice the rest of your bullets hitting the container or the ground? Check at :06-:07, first goes wide left of the guy getting knifed, next goes wide right on the container.

You never hit him until he was done knifing.

So if the first shot doesnt count, the third should, and vice versa. And as far as the second shot, I think there are something like 12 pellets in one shot, with a max damage of 18 per pellet. Considering the barrel was right on his shoulder, he should be dead. Crazily, my accuracy with the 870 is 113%, assuming its cause the spread gets collateral kills. All three shots should have at least gotten hitmarkers. Hitmarkers I can understand, but this and the example below appear the bullets are not actually registering.

EDIT: Also, notice in the third shot screenshot...his health bar over is head actually is at 0. The frame before its at 50-60. So the third shot did count. Maybe client prediction took over and his client said f you. Maybe the killcam value is incorrect. Maybe its like the Six Sense and he actually died but doesnt know it yet.

Yeah, but after 52 bullets I would expect 4-5 to actually land at that range. And I didnt stop firing so I'm not sure why the ads bug would then go away once he finishes knifing. At least one of my squad mates behind me was shooting at him as well. I still think the animation protected him.

Its the inconsistency that drives me crazy.

I have killed people mid-animation and saved them. I have killed other during the animation but after they got the knife kill.

/shrug

Random is random?

I wonder if the knifee maybe messed up the counter, and at that point there is no escaping it. It is strange how the game feels so random at times, and software shouldnt be random unless you want it to be.
