I think I had that error when running ultra settings on my old GTX 670. Isn't that an out-of-VRAM error?

I have magician running so i'll check that out. I restarted the PC a few times and that fixed it for the time being. If its a Vram thing, I wouldn't be shocked to say the least. Even with high textures Lancang Damn hits over 1900mb @ 1080p. Too bad the R9 pricing is screwed right now. I'd grab a couple 780's but I don't want to be bitching about some new game barely getting by from needing 2900mb Vram in the next 9 months. Hell, I think BF4 uses like 2500mb at 1080p when on full ultra. Ridiculous.

I am using the Ultra preset, which is 4XMSAA. I think I'll do alter it to custom and lower the post processing AA and see if that helps.

I don't want to go lower than Ultra. That's why I play on PC. My system has more than enough power. DICE really screwed people over on that imho.

been playing a ton lately. game has been stable. some odd lag every now and then and the "netcode issues" still seem to pop up every now and then but besides that all is good.

also the AA is so brokenly OP it almost feels like cheating playing with it

Somethings wrong, according to that his has 4GB of VRAM, although it looks like his card should be 2GB. I was fooling around using Ultra settings and resolution scale at 200%, and I didnt run out of VRAM.

Once I'm done testing and start playing again, I will probably go back to medium settings.

BTW, its strange, but when you are in a server by yourself people actually join and try to kill you. Why would someone join a 64 player server with only one person on it? Especially when you can't even start without 4 players. A dude came on when I was just running up and down the street and tried to snipe me. Killed him with my MTAR, and he came back in an attack helicopter! hahaha

It uses as much as 1.9gb of my VRAM on Ultra preset. Thing is, it doesn't do it (crash) all the time. I've had it at times spike to 2gb according to Afterburner and I didn't crash.

Game seems to go in spells with that error. No real rhyme or reason to it, though I notice it more in Lancang Dam than any other map.

It's just got to be an Nvidia driver issue I think, although I don't blame Nvidia as much as I do Dice. Running out of VRam at 1440p or 1600p is understandable, but not 1080p. Seems more like a memory leak than anything to me.

Given my K/D ratio, if using AA causes lag and makes it easier to get killed...then I prolly should cut AA off lol.

I'm getting better, but damn...folks sniping me from across the map...shooting me through walls. At least I am getting good at shooting down helicopters and shooting the people jumping out afterwards

What are your goals? To unlock sniper rifles or to unlock the recon class?

If it's just to unlock the recon class, grab an all-kit carbine and go to down. That's usually what I'm doing except I'm running around with the DBV-12 reading the endless rage of people crying about shotguns being noob weapons.

If you're trying to unlock sniper rifles... uh, well, I would say play the heck out of them back when the 100% exp bonus was working and it'd make unlocking them rather trivial (which is what I managed to do). Otherwise, suck it up buttercup and expect to have some truly awful games while you learn the engagement ranges you can engage at and shouldn't engage at.

I prefer to be mobile so I stuck with the 8x and tried to pick 60-200m ranges and just counter sniped places where I knew other people would likely be camping. Hills on the edge of Rogue Transmission, mini islands and roofs on Paracel Storm, roofs and side hills on Zavod 311 and Lancang Dam.

Needed 1 sniper kill for MTAR. So bad was I sniping, I just spammed shots on Locker till I got the kill lol.

It took me a while to learn how to snipe in this game. Actually until I got the M98 I was pretty mediocre. Its different if you came from games like CS or CoD. Bullets aren't instant so you always have to account for travel time.

Yes but it's a lot less than it was in BF3. I like using the SOFLAM and the C4 to be useful to the team.

Just a note about VRAM usage - when you measure it matters a great deal. If you look at the VRAM usage just as you enter a game you'll likely find its around 1-1.2GB at 1080p ultra with 4xMSAA. You will then see it climb for about 30 seconds until it reaches a little under 2GB (on a 2GB card) or sometimes a little above and then it will stay there.

This is a classic sign of a caching algorithm being used for assets that technically are in excess of 2GB in total but which aren't really necessary and are loaded and unloaded as required. If we are talking about what is necessary to run BF4 smoothly on those settings in terms of VRAM is around 1-1.5GB of VRAM, the rest is being used to potentially improve minimums later or just mostly being unused. The game doesn't exceed 2GB unless you go above 1600p, at 4k it definitely can and does exceed it but not at the more normal PC resolutions, its just darn awkward to measure because of the technique used for dynamically loading and caching assets.

That's how I did it, I'm a horrid sniper, BUT being able to select recon and using a carbine gives you access to a few different tools. A key spawn point with a team using it can change fights. I probably don't use it near enough now that I think about it...
