Im pretty sure it's the last patch causing it since Ive tried multiple older drivers that worked fine before. Its only the Dragons Teeth maps that crash on me, especially Pearl Market.Ive been getting a lot of DX hang ups with the game since last patch or nvidia driver.
Siege of Shanghai can really wreck havoc on older hardware especially if the tower gets taken down. The map Siege pretty much has the worst performance of any map in the game right?
Played some Golmud Highway and Lockers on this older rig with a Q6600@stock and even with 64 players those maps get me about 48-99fps and those are purely what the cpu can deliver but on Siege i am getting like 28-45fps.

Benching a gtx970 with a Q6600@stock.It's my buddies card but more or less seeing what the cpu can deliver fps wise so i could dial in about which gpu i should consider upgrading for this rig.
I know settings like resolution scaling can certainly make the gpu the weakest link long before the Q6600 even comes into play lol.May even run out of vram and get a crash before the Q6600 factors in.
Have you tried an AMD card and running Mantle? Might be an improvement there with that older CPU.
64p is pretty brutal on the cpu. Mantle helps a ton for a lower end cpu. Though nvidia has better performance in dx11 for weak CPUs.
Even though BF4 lets you choose higher settings, I dont think they actually work. I remember testing it on an older PC I had (Q6600, GTX285 and 4GB of RAM) and it let me set everything to ultra even though the GTX285 was only a DX10 card. When I tested high and ultra settings it looked the same as on low. Keep in mind I tried this right after the game came out so there have been several patches and updates since that may have changed everything, and with DICE every update is a mish mosh of fixes and breakages. LOL!Been running the 32 bit version of the game, mostly cause i got 6gb of ram.Was under the impression it was locked to low but other settings have been usable which confuses me.:\
I play more CS:GO and COD BO2 then i do BF4,and BO2 certainly likes Nvidia. With the right gpu, both of those games with this Q6600 pull well over 100 with BO2 hitting upwards of nearly 200fps with max settings.
Performance out of this world in BF4 isn't exact paramount but maybe Switching to W8.1 or even 10 could open up more frames.I know settings like Ultra really are to harsh so running low or medium would work.Still investigating it atm.

On a side note that same machine ran BF3 on medium settings like a champ.
Nothing about mantle..............fail.
I have to agree with bob4432 above - having played Night Operations, I think it's silly that night vision, a la BF2:SF, wasn't incorporated. You essentially have to stop and look through your INRV scope every few seconds or you have no hope of performing well. That makes for very non-fluid gameplay.
It's an interesting map, but it's not one I'll be playing regularly, and it's actually really hard to find among active servers.
I run mantle on my r9 290. Works great for me. Less dips into the double digits.
I agree NV goggles should have been the first thing on the list of additions for any night map. When I play it I stick to FLIR enabled vehicles.
Sad the game has gone through devolution :\
