Im guessing the full game will be closer to 50GB after all the DLCs.

Oh wow,BF3 would have to go buh bye to make room on my 180gb ssd just to install BF4 if i went with a full edition which i just may do as i currently have only 38gb free.

So recently I bought that EA Humble Bundle with BF3 in it. I had seen plenty of game-play videos before, of course, but I never actually played the game. So I gave it a go for around two or three hours and overall it's really not a bad game at all. It's quite enjoyable and very similar to BF2 with updated graphics (the gist of it, for me, is if you (I) liked BF2 you'd have no good reasons to not like BF3). The sounds quality, clarity and diversity in particular are absolutely stunning (seriously, the sounds are probably even better than the graphics). It is a good game and I could see myself playing it at least a few sessions every week-ends, if not more often.

Although I don't think I'd play BF3 more often than I played BF2 (for various reasons including the fact that back when BF2 was new my own PC games library was about 80% thinner than it is now and I had no full time job). By the way, are there any mods or full conversions for BF3? Was it ever mods-friendly? I remember a nice Star Wars-themed full conversion for BF2 but I can't recall its name. So BF3 was released barely two years ago, in fact as I type this not even fully two years yet (October 2011), and BF4 will already be out very soon. I've seen videos of BF4 and it does look fun and the graphics look even better than BF3's. I wonder if BF3's players base will drastically decrease once BF4 is out, and if so will it doom BF3 over a short period of time only to leave it with pockets of veterans whom just happened not to buy BF4 "like everyone else"? Did Bad Company 2's players base decreased after BF3's release?

Well... I guess the same can be said about Quake III Arena's players base "moving over" to UT99 after they found out it was just as good, if not better (let's face it, it was better, but Q3A is still good nonetheless). I guess that my point is BF3's life span was nothing but a blink of an eye, much like how official support (patches, content, etc) from BioWare for ME3's multi-player (and single-player, of all things) stopped after barely a year and a few DLCs were out (and there's still obvious bugs in multi-player). So, how long before the announcement for Battlefield 5, one or two years from now? My guess is that at the latest, before 2014's end, we'll learn about BF5 with details and at the very least a trailer (or a teaser). By the way most of this refers to multi-player of course, BF3 has a campaign so that's better than none at all and I'll probably try to complete that one in the coming weeks.

How much room you think I'll need on my HD for the beta?? I only have 8GB free right now, debating what I should uninstall. I already got rid of COD4 and WaW, next up is either 42, BF2, or BFBC2. BF2 won't seem to start up, I think that's next on the chopping block.

The alpha was 4.39 GB, and the beta will be the same level with but with textures this time. 8 gb should be fine

There are plenty of people that loved BF2 and didn't love BF3, mostly because of team play features left out of BF3, plus the reduced Time To Kil(TTK).I predict a precipitous drop-off of BF3 players after the release of BF4, because of their similarities. there will be pockets of stubborn resistence, as always, but no tech disparity like between previous versions (hardware requirements.), that stops some people from moving on.

Battlefieldo - Understanding Commander Mode In Battlefield 4

Today, DICE posted another blog in their series "The Road To Battlefield 4" , and this time, we got even more in-depth information about how it works in the upcoming shooter. However, the original blog post is a long read, so I've taken the liberty to shorten it down, and make the message they're trying to send a little clearer.

What Is Commander Mode?

Commander mode is an RTS styled mode that lets players use assets like UAVs and support drops to aid their team in winning the round. Along with base assets, capturing certain objectives in Battlefield 4 gives the commander even more ways to help the team, like being able to call in an AC-130 Gunship to circle an objective.

How does Commander Mode work?

When commanders join the game through a special commander queue, they can communicate with different squads and give orders to squad leaders, who can either accept or deny them. While the commander oversees the team during the round, players can select targets for the commander to deal with, whether that is using a Tomahawk Missile to destroy a tank, or using the infantry/vehicle scan asset to spot enemies. However, if a team does not like the commander, they can start a mutiny kick, in which the commander will be replaced by the next player in the queue.

Along with the blog post, a gif was posted showing some concepts of commander mode, we have taken it and split them into screenshots with detailed information on what is shown.

Only notable change in this screenshot is the addition of the High Value Target option.
While everything listed above seems familiar, the first screenshot showcases something almost unheard of in Battlefield 4: Submarines. It's assumed that like all other commander resources, the submarine will play a support role to the commander and battlefield in a non-pilotable function, like the AC-130 Gunship.

Lol that is pretty awesome, guess such a feature really just discourages camping and killstreaks most likely performed by people not really being team players and just lonewolfing?

New Battlefield Blog Post - Ask DICE: Battlefield 4 – Levolution and Commander Mode

[EA] LooooveCommander |08.31.13

We’ve been seeing questions pouring in from fans who are excited for the launch of Battlefield 4 – now just 2 months away!

In the spirit of keeping our fans informed and Prepared 4 Battle we’re continuing a new series called “Ask DICE,” featuring questions that we’ve received from Battlefield players with answers straight from the development team at DICE. Check back here at the Battlefield blog every other Friday for answers, exclusive info, and more.

Battlefield 4 Levolution and Commander Mode Q&A
This week we’ll be answering your questions on Levolution and Commander Mode – both exciting aspects of the game that make Battlefield 4 incredibly unique and fun. Levolution is a game-changing concept where the environment reacts to your every move, both big and small. Now you can bring down a whole skyscraper like in the Siege of Shanghai map or raise bollards to stop a tank or jeep from entering a certain area in the same map. Commander Mode adds a new layer of strategic teamplay to the game by letting two additional players take the Commander seat with a birds-eye view of the map to deploy powerful intel and assets to assist your team on the ground.

Oliveira117 asked, “In Commander Mode if your commander is AFK or doing a very poor job will you be able to vote for him to be demoted (or kicked) from the game?

A Mutiny can be instigated by the team’s squad leaders if they feel the Commander is doing a poor job.

Mutiny will not be allowed for a period of time after a new Commander is chosen, so each Commander will get a chance to prove themselves.

Lieutenant00 asked, “What kinds of features will Commander Mode have, like Tomahawk, supply/vehicle drop, etc.?”

There’s a long list of things you can do as a Commander. From a birds-eye view, Commanders can control various support for their respective teams including cruise missile strikes, gunship, supply and vehicle drops, UAVs and more.

As your team carries out your orders and captures objectives, more assets are unlocked for use.

The Commander can also give you critical intelligence, calling out and pinpointing high value targets (players on a killstreak), and they can guide the troops on the ground to key objectives to win the battle.

Andy0440 asked, “How does one become a Commander?”

Players will queue into a server as a Commander and wait for their opening. We’re looking into giving players other options like going to Battlelog to customize their character/loadout and check out stats while they wait.

Cphacker95 asked, “Will Commander Mode be usable on console, being able to use the mode while on PS3/Xbox or will we need to get a Tablet?”

While you are able to use tablets for Commander Mode, you will also be able to use Commander Mode on current and next gen consoles as well as PC.

Fird96 asked, “Will other maps have their own “special” Levolution? Will there be the same Levolution (falling building) or different Levolution in other maps?”

Yes, Levolution occurs on every map. Some things are massive like reducing a skyscraper to rubble or flooding an entire level in real-time. Others are small but hugely impact the game like shooting fire extinguishers to distract enemies or cutting the power of a building to blind opponents.

If you haven’t seen the Paracel Storm map we unveiled at Gamescom we encourage you to do so. There you can see how players have the option of taking down a turbine weakened by lightning in order to free the damaged destroyer stuck on it. If you manage to set the destroyer adrift, it will crash onto the island, changing the layout of the map and allowing your team to take control of the anti-air weapons on the ship.

These moments are all triggered by the players – they aren’t just timed moments that will happen no matter what you do in the match. You and your teammates will have to decide if it would be a better tactical decision to radically change the map, or if it would be wiser and better for your play-style if you stopped the other team from triggering these events.

NoVa X chopper asked, “Will the gameplay be different on next-gen consoles other than map size and amount of players? By this I mean will there still be Levolution on current gen consoles?”

Levolution remains the same no matter what system you play Battlefield 4 on and the Levolution moments on current-gen consoles will be just as game-changing as on next-gen. The only difference is that for the first time on console, you can play 64-player matches on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at 60 FPS.

Until next time…

Check back here at the Battlefield blog every other Friday for answers, gameplay previews, and more.

Next time we’ll be answering questions about Weapon Customization and Vehicles. What questions do you have? Let us know in the comments below.

Battlefield 4 begins its release on October 29, 2013 and will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Pre-order now and get the China Rising expansion at no additional cost.

Which aspect of Battlefield 4 multiplayer are you looking forward to most?
 • Causing massive destruction and radically changing the map
 • Being the strategic mastermind behind the team
 • Utilizing the small things in Levolution to gain a tactical advantage
 • Calling in the big guns as Commander

Have you ever seen useless sniper camper go on killstreak? I haven't. It's usually very good assault players.
This "feature" is very very questionable.

Rarely see a sniper go on a killstreak, but i did play some Donya Fortress last night and there was a recon with a m417 going assault on the enemy team and ended up being their top best player and at one point raked up a 10 kill killstreak till ruined it with my DAO.^_^

Whoa. With that thing? I tried using it, but it has such disgusting kick it's impossible to shoot it fast. The guy must have absolutely sick aim then.

on close quarters maps the 417 with a foregrip and laser is an absolute rape stick, shoot from the hip and watch them all die.

This ran rushed you,no hip fire of any kind it was simply a matter of him being quicker then the folks like me who had either the p90,m16a3 or the dao.

Guy kicked some ass pretty good,he was recon the whole round from what i could tell and being the best score and kill wise and on the winning team?Priceless.

p90 with laser sight is about the only thing faster than the 417, running and gunning with that is like point-click-die

Ugh, the semi-auto sniper spammers..... They love the SKS and M417, its their suppressive effect that makes them so deadly. Even if they miss their first few shots it still suppresses you just enough to throw off your return fire. They should man up and use a bolt.

You do have to have some skill to make use of semiautos, though. I recently started experimenting with the SKS, and boy I can't kill shit

That bothered me at first, but then I realized that I rarely get kill streaks higher than 6 during Conquest unless I'm camping. There is the occasional time that I'm defending and I might get a streak that high, but chances are good that I'm already showing up on the radar.

I never touch the recon class,i just know this guy was incredibly good and i was impressed for sure.

I always am either support with a p90 or Dao or assault with the m16a3 or my new favorite the Aug 3.
