It probably "keeps" the mags and after all your full ones are "used" it reverts to those with less bullets.

I love DICE, but you may be giving them too much credit by expecting something like this. If they do this, I would expect that if you reload early, then you lose those rounds that you unloaded.
Not sure how this is going to be, because when I am ground pounding I reload like crazy. Shoot guy, reload etc etc.

If its anything like BF2, you have 4 magazines. Around 30 rounds each. No clip rotation or anything else.

You can only get more using support packs/crates. It prevents easy lone wolfing because you run out of ammo extremely quickly.

It was an amazing mechanic. Slowed the game down so much because you had to conserve ammo.

I'd be okay with that. Throwing out the old mag for a new one would be fine with me. I'd run out of ammo quickly, but I'd just start playing whatever class drops ammo in this BF, pick up weapons more often, or roll with a guy that does.

This is how I am. I reload any time I have a moment of free time. I never want to go into a gun fight without a full magazine.

Didn't they go by magazine in 1942? I don't remember if BF2 did it but I'm pretty sure they did in 1942. I'm kind of in the habit of doing it still, I won't reload until my magazine gets too low for me to kill a person with.

Hmmm. 3GB VRAM recommended, and yet the two recommended video cards are equipped with 2GB (other than some oddball 3GB 660s).

Yeah, I've got to say that sounds like AMD's handiwork. They couldn't convince DICE to recommend an HD7950, but they at least got the 3GB VRAM off of the 7950!

The CPU optimizations in DX11.1 will apparently work on all DX11 GPUs

I thought so as well. The page isn't loading correctly for me (content filter at work) but it does say Vista 32-bit. Thought we were out of 2005 already. =(

Found this on another forum:

Repi:

Q: Is windows 8 recommended due to directx 11.1?

A: Correct! we have some good CPU optimizations that Microsoft implemented in DX11.1 on our request

Q: Than you also need a Graphic card that is DirectX 11.1 optimized. Which cost a bit more...

A: Actually no, the DX 11.1 CPU optimizations works on standard DX11 GPUs as it is in software

Q: Can you lighten us why Bf 4 requires "only" 32-bit OS?

A: We manged to scale down the requirements to 32-bit without sacrificing anything for our 64-bit version

Q: recommended means Ultra ?

A: Nope. Ultra requires significantly more powerful GPU, at least at high resolutions & with MSAA

So it looks like the 64 bit version is still on, but they managed to scale down the game for people on 32 bit operating systems..

Willing to bet so many people could end up starting flame wars over which os is truly the best for this game, windows 7 or windows 8 and we could count on many graphs to come.

When they mean optimizations in windows 8,i will assume my i5 2500 could perhaps pull a few frames less if i ran windows 7 or is it some sort of ploy to get people to upgrade to windows 8?

A 7870 is not that much faster then the recommended gtx570/6950 that BF3 called for, mostly looks like a os push like before with BF3 making windows xp go buh bye.

The charts would favor Windows 8. The reason they suggest it is because it is a better OS. Regardless of how you feel about Metro, the underlying OS is better than 7. But, that doesn't matter because Lord Master Gabe opened his mouth about Windows 8 before he ever saw it and all the Steam fanboys refuse to think otherwise.

Issue for me honestly is Metro as i have used it before, windows 7 has been so solid for me that over time i have come to love it more then windows xp and trust me during the vista days i preferred windows xp right up till windows 7 beta.

I am a simple gamer and movie watcher/netflixer/hulu streamer. When i don't game or watch anything,my wifes checking her facebook so the switch to windows 8 for one game or several is a hard push, windows 8 would have to offer something dramatically different as far as the gaming department goes before i consider a switch.

This is not a discussion about Windows version. Go away. Seriously. It's just as retarded as AMD/nVidia flamewars by fanbois.

Official BF4 PC requirements

I wonder how much amd paid for that 3?
I wonder how much Microsoft payed for that Win8 promoting.

You go away lol.

Your reaction to the windows 8 recommendation would suggest and give me the impression its a promotion, and that is all i wanted to find out.

I think the whole windows 8 recommendation thing is pretty important, big move on Dice if you ask me.

its no big secret that Win8 has some preformance gains over 7. all other issues people have with 8 aside to get the "best" preformance 8 should be used

Look at that 3gb Vram. And that's just for recommended, but I expect that to cover Ultra as far as Vram needs go, but you'll need two high ends or good mid range cards for the GPU grunt.
So, who's ditching their 670's? Anyone wanna buy two 670's later this year?:|:$

I don't think I want to redo my WC loop for 4 670s so not me. >_> I am wishing I had just bought a Titan though. Perhaps when AMD releases whatever they are going to release soon, the prices will come down and I can snag a couple. 6GB of VRAM should last me a good awhile (hopefully).

Well most don't use win8 at all.

And that is because of Metro or ignorance.

It makes perfect sense for them to recommend the best performing OS.

I am disappointed with the no all 64-bit though. I was hoping DICE would stick to their guns and help force the change on the people. Nobody buying this game doesn't have a 64-bit processor.

I am really curious which settings will 5850 with 1GB memory allow me to use. I can run BF3 on ultra with some really small tradeoffs and no AA (which I wouldn't use anyway) at 1920x1200, but something tells me I am royally screwed for BF4.

You'll probably be okay on medium. My old 5870 worked like a dream in BF3 when it first came out.

Had a 2gb 7850 not to long ago, medium all settings enabled but msaa and i never hit the 1gb usage point and i got my 60+ fps.

Think with my gtx770 i may be running high with no msaa, chart numbers show a 7970 consuming over 2gb still with no msaa at 1200p....how the hell is the 6 year old 8800gt 512mb still sitting as the recommended minimum spec card for this game while some of you with 1gb cards are sweating bullets?

That answers the question for me with respect to 680 SLI or single card upgrade then -- can't wait for AMD's new series and obligatory Nvidia refresh!
