Thank you for the heads up!
High five and all that good stuff!
Indeed - thank you. Just bought the game and will likely be installing the Beta tonight.

You might as well install Classic Shell, stick to desktop mode and stay with 8... I'm not crazy about it either, but it's here to stay unfortunately.
Hey in my defense I charged you with a pistol the second time!
I noticed you had one of the best K/D's on the server, so of course I rub it in if I kill you =)
I put the game on Ultra with 4Xaa just to see what happened, and all I know is the game looks very detailed and nice. It ran better than I expected, but yeah its impressive looking so far. Will play a little more tonight.

I've been jumping back and forth between BF3 and BF4 (when I get tired of the map).
One thing I really like about BF4 is the clarity and (lack) of desaturation and color grading. Colors are vivid and rendering is very sharp, with very little bloom and fog.
I honestly wish the skyscraper couldn't be brought down. I don't think it really brings anything to the table, other than covering all of that beautiful scenery with dust.
The more I play it, the more I think I prefer the movement mechanics compared to BF3. Strafing and overall movement feels a bit snappier and more precise now, whereas in BF3 you get a bit of that mushy feeling when you start trying to strafe. It's not more realistic or anything, but I think it's more fun.
The only area I think BF4 seems to have gone backwards is the audio. The weapons in BF3 have far more character and audible impact. It would have saved them a lot of time if they would have just reused the same files....I wouldn't mind -- they already put a ton of effort into getting them right so they might as well reuse it.
If anything, BF4 feels more like a "PC game" than BF3 does (I think largely due to less annoying post-processing, larger FoV, and more precise controls). I'm excited to get to some more maps.
Yah the audio seems off, maybe its just missing till release.
They better not pull the "You need AMD new True Audio to get better sound" crap. That is total BS marketing if they do that. lol
I stated earlier that I hit 100+ frames with an overclocked i5, but it is far from being stutter free on windows 7. Unfortunately I dont have a windows 8 machine to test on.Think i will be as bold as to say the whole remark about windows 8 having better cpu optimization wasn't marketing bs....every time i find a guy claiming a excellent experience on windows 7 in BF4,its cause they either have a fx8350 or a i7 chip....the ones stuttering keep posting they have amd quad cores and i5 chips.....
The few i5 owners which don't appear to be many it seems to be having a stutter free experience on 7 most likely have highly overclocked chips......
Thought I'd jump in on this thread but first, thanks Gully for putting this info together!
I've got a 3570k@4.4 paired with a 670 and I'm curious about what CPU utilization others are seeing.
As soon as the game starts to load I am seeing 90%+ CPU on all cores and it stays that way once I spawn. Of course it's a stuttery mess and I certainly understand it's a beta and all but I'd still like to see what utilization others are seeing.

I do very well on the smaller domination map with frames averaging in the 80s. But on 64 player conquest they spike and dip all over, anywhere from 185 to low 20s. It really goes nuts after the building collapse. Hopefully this will be fixed before launch and I wont have to upgrade my cpu.

Depends on the os,i find 88-96% typical on windows 7 and on windows 8 i find 83-91% with the couple spikes to about 93%.
So how do you get into the beta if you purchased through gamefly? I'm not really seeing anything about the beta after i bought it on there.
