He means the tablet commanders. They need to be counterable in some way. Otherwise, they seem OP.

In BF2, if the teams assets were disabled, the commander was helpless. SF blowing up the assets was the counter. I dont see why that would be any different to a tablet commander. I assumed thats what Nik was originally getting at.

Although I'm looking at the live stream, and while they talk about the commander, they are not talking about assets. They seemed to imply that the commander's assets were based on your teams performance, but that makes no sense. If you are already winning, giving the winning team additional resources would imbalance the game even more.

Also, since they are really pimping the new spectator mode and the ability to arbitrarily place cameras around the map...did they announce battle recorder?

I believe in Daskro's podcast, the commander assets are based on cap points. For sure the AC-130 is only given from holding C Flag in Shanghai.

Maybe basic deployables are performance based?

How is this any different than having two squads of not retarded people with mics running around dominating anyway. That is how quite a few games end up anyway. And since they are friends, in mumble together, they get on the same team / same squad each time and continue to ownage.
Its not a lot of difference I suppose. Whats your counter for the current mic'd up squads situation?

Tanks can't just sit and spam shells at your spawn point infinitely now? Yeah... megafail. >_>
It is a mega fail if you are stuck with 4 measly rounds and a shitty commander who wont resupply you...........

Agree, we need more info.

NERF the tanks please. I like limited shells, but 4 sounds way to limited. I would suggest perhaps 10. Noone needs more than 10 rounds in a magazine, right?

Hey we are playing in China not the communist state of NY!!!

Well. of course, in BF2, tanks had limited ammunition, and needed crates to get more ammo. It had what, 30 rounds? And without 3d spotting or anything like that, spamming rounds tended to be extremely counterproductive. Also I'm not really sure there is a map where that is actually even possible in the first place in BF2. Maybe operation harvest?

Now take away tank health regeneration and tank perks.

4 shells seems like way too few, you would be hard pressed to even take out another tank head on with only 4

when happens when you both run out? just drive at each other and dance?

Anyone catch the "counter attack" knife at 1:44? Not sure how useful that really is, but cool

Loving the level of destructability that seems to be available in the environments, very detailed it seems. lol @ shooting the jet's restraints so that it slides down and scatters/crushes the enemies across the way.

Recon with C4? Goddamnit.

Also noticing that the 'tick marks' that normally appear when you deal damage seem to be absent in many of the clips. I hope that's a setting you can toggle (maybe it is now?), but I always felt like it had no place in hardcore, they're too 'useful' frankly lol.

Much fewer ammo carried per character, I like that.

I'm hoping the bullet deviation isn't completely removed; I feel like there needs to be some variance element to it; they're guns after all. I usually side with gameplay over realism but in this case I don't want to see bullets that fire exactly where your crosshairs are every time.

The right amount of recoil and/or weapon sway is all we need to accomplish what deviation was meant for.

I'd be stoked if it was realistic...most combat rifle have a MOA (deviation) of about 1 inch per 100 yds...shooting randomness in games is well beyond that. If I aim down sights from 15 feet away, I shouldn't have 10 of my bullets shoot around the guy.

Use a shotgun or get better friends. >_> At least, that is how it works in BF3.

Tanks should not have unlimited ammo. 4 rounds does seem a bit low, but I am sure there is an extra ammo perk you can unlock. And I'd imagine that is a bit more realistic.

A modern tank can carry 42 rounds. So... BF2 numbers around.

RE: Tank ammo, seems like it would be a pretty easy thing to adjust though if it really nerfs them too much.

Yeah, anything we are seeing now will be turned upside down after a few balancing updates. They drove me nuts with those the first few months of BF3. About the time I would get used to what they fixed(broke) they would fix(break) it again. LOL

PS-Id be fine with 30-40 tank shells, but 4!!!! Thats like giving a starving man 1 M&M!!!

It makes me wonder if we'll see similar limits on mortars or missiles (air/anti-air) and a bunch of other elements we haven't seen any info on yet...

Heck, I'm wondering if we'll see the comeback of anti-air emplacements like in BC2. I know I'd welcome them.

30 or 40 still seems like a lot of shells. I think they are just trying to limit the effectiveness of tanks without making them completely worthless. They are OP in BF3; limiting their shells (not even the machine guns) would effectively make them powerful enough to get jobs done, but then need to be restocked before you can just go to the next building / point. You can't sit in the same spot all day simply firing shell after shell into an MCOM until it is gone.

It doesn't even have to be a resupply to "fix" them. Just like fire 4 rounds and have to wait 30 seconds before you can fire another 4.

Tanks are glass in BF3. Tank in BF2 had an ammo limit (30 rounds) that worked just fine. You rarely ran out of ammo and nobody complained about how much ammo tanks had.

Someone said it was a marketing technique. To have people, even the demo player, particularly bad at a game so as a gamer you feel "superior" to what is bring shown.

I'd buy that as a valid strategy for press demos and demonstrations where they're able to control who is at the controls, but in more open events, not as much the case. There's also a limit to how "dumbed down" they can present it as it ruins the entertainment/enjoyment factor if we're watching a player consistently fly a helicopter into a wall. There's dual issues of sticking primarily console players on it (they've got kb+m as well as One controllers), so you've got people playing using the controllers, and then you've got quite a few "newbies". There were a couple of decent players as well.

EDIT: It's a time based restock...I dig that. If the tank were to operate on that, then the 4 round limit wouldn't be so bad.

It was more of an amusement/frustration factor for me watching it...I already know what I'll be facing for the most part so no worries lol.

ALSO...diggin ammo limits on vehicles assuming they're balanced out a bit. Has anyone seen how heli's are gonna resupply? (considering that's my main love lol)

Maybe I missed it but did they reveal who gets to be the commander? Is it going to the first person to spawn in the position? It seems like the commander can't be killed so one guy can occupy the spot for the entire round?
