yeah that doesn't seem right. Did you get the Nvidia beta drivers? I'd think you should be playable at 1080p with those settings

Yup i got those drivers,my wife is using my U2412M monitor as her notebooks screen went out and she has her notebook stationed on a desk with my U2412M hooked up vga style and i am using a spare 19'' 1366x768 screen till i get her notebook fixed.

Vram usage doesn't even touch 1.7gb....not sure what in the hell is up with the game,i know its beta but damn i don't remember BF3 being that bad during beta.

I have 2x 7950s and the game was incredibly stuttery and didn't seem to get above 25fps at any point in time (Afterburner OSD wasn't working with this game) even at the lowest preset video option.

However, when I disabled Crossfire, gameplay was very smooth even at Ultra settings, no MSAA.

I have the newest AMD Beta Driver that coincided with the BF4 Beta launch. There is no issue with my card or Crossfire with my rig, I play CF games all the time, including one hour before playing BF4.

I just assumed CF was not working with BF4 right out of the gate, but your comment is throwing me for a loop...

First impressions:

1. Movement speed was increased.....don't think I like that so much. It feels like you're gliding around really fast (sort of like Crysis 2/3 MP).

2. Massive FoV settings available. Really nice...at 120 you're really starting to fish-eye, but it's great to have the option.

3. Looks nice. It's easy to run. My aging i7 930 / GTX670 combo had no problems running it. Ultra at 120 FoV dropped it down into the mid 40's most of the time, but it was still smooth. Considering that it will no doubt run better on release than it does now, I think it's going to run well for a range of hardware.

Just my impressions about about an hour....I mostly tried to get into a map without many players so I could explore the environment.

So I did not know AMD dropped new beta drivers, put 13.9 on and still had a Direct 3D error when changing any video settings, so was stuck at auto, worked fine.

Movement feels smoother, interface takes some getting used to after playing BF3 so long, and it stinks having no unlocks, lol.

Played 2 rounds and did not see the tower collapse.

3770K@4.5 and a 780@1201 kept me in the 50-60fps range with all settings maxed out, 4x MSAA included. It was using about 2.4 gigs of Vram. There was some hitching here and there though, the game still needs some optimizing.

Only played for about an hour, but I like what I saw.

What resolution?

My impressions after about 45 minutes of playtime.

Runs pretty good for a beta. Settings defaulted at Ultra/High @1920x1200. I averaged 57.5 frames measured with FRAPS over the entire game. I did feel a few hiccups here and there. High was 95, low was 5

The tanks looked and felt odd to me, I was on the chinese team so it wasnt an Abrams, but it just didnt "feel" up to scale in size or weight. It reminded me of the tanks in BC2, which is a huge step backwards from BF3 IMO. Will go into a low population server later to test a helo and drive the Abrams and see if its any better.

The movement was fine, I can strafe!!!!

I entered an empty server to play around with video settings for about 15 minutes before work. i5-2500k @ 4.2 and 7970 Ghz bios running 2560 x 1440, video set to high. I found a spot on the map with my original driver (about 6 months old?) and could run high 50's looking to the east and high 40's looking west. I exited, loaded new beta2 driver and went back to the same spot. I was pinned at 60 east, and mid 50's west. So...for me the driver increased fps by about 15% - pretty huge. I noticed a brief stutter whenever I changed a video setting. I expect that was just texture loading.

As soon as I launched the game, I could feel that this was going to take some horsepower compared to BF3. Add in the fighting, and I might be struggling on high setting.

People are reporting that its using %99 cpu and only around %20-30 GPU. I wonder if that is the issue lots are having.

I have to play on medium to get 40-50fps which seems silly.

Can't wait to get home to give it a try.

So how does the ranking, weapons, loadouts, and unlocks work? Same as BF3? Or are attachments universal or what?

Put in about 45 minutes this morning and all seemed pretty good on my end. Mid 40's fps and defaulted to ultra/high mix on the rig in my sig.

I disagree that it felt like you were more floating/gliding. I liked the mechanics. There is a slight delay before you start running.

I really liked the effects/arc of the grenade launcher.

Another positive is that your key bindings will change. I remember the BF3 beta you couldn't change key bindings so I couldn't effectively play since I change quite a bit.

Well, a 7870 is not enough to play this game on High at 2560x1440, unlike BF3. Here are some numbers for comparison from a 64-player round:

OC'd 7870 on 13.10 beta:
BF3 High - 65fps
BF3 Ultra - 50fps
BF4 High - 45fps
BF4 Ultra - 33fps

I tested both the latest WHQL and the 13.10 BF4 beta. High did not improve, but Ultra went from about 27fps to 33fps.

That's on an OC'd quad-core. GPU was locked at 98-99% the entire time.

Also, the game seems to take about 3GB of RAM over and above the OS. Task Manager only reported 2.1GB, but I could see my total use go up to 6GB total for the system, from 3GB.

Wouldn't it be great if Dice would give us a way to import our keyboard/mouse settings from BF3. I know some options are different, but this would save a lot of time on the common functions. And after we finally get beta all straightened out, we have to do it again in a month for the release version. I'd even take battlelog access so I could have it all configured for when I get home.

well, they do allow you to set them up off line now which is a nice step in the right direction. But yeah, you still need to be in front of the PC where BF4 is installed.

Everyone is getting that problem. It is not final release and both AMD and Nvidia will optimize the full version

Played 1 round this morning, looks like a lot of fun and very much like BF3.

Question: Can I change my user name that appears in game? Also how do I use the side folded 2x magnifier on my support weapon?

Having a major issue with low gpu usage and very stuttery gameplay with erratic frame dips,i was rubberbanding so bad as well on top of it that in frustration i said fudge it and uninstalled it last night.

Letting it reinstall, hoping perhaps it was a fluke as i did install the latest nvidia drivers after the game was installed so here is to hoping all is well,BF3 runs simply amazing on 331.41.....

I tell you want got me more exciting than anything was it now shows damage done to armor after you die. Ticked me off in BF3 how it would not show how much damage you did to a vehicle after you died.

I really dig the UI this time around.
