I was gonna try some older drivers but its probably not worth the effort. After all it is playable for me, its just annoying to get those big dips. Who knows, they may give us a beta patch or two like they did with BF3.

Hoping for a patch too,worst case its fixed by the time the game is released.

Got a question guys,when you preordered the game by credit card,did you notice the money being removed or do they withdraw the money after the game release?The whole $70 i spent for the game is still on the credit card.This will be the first time i preordered a game using a credit game believe it or not.

Depends on the retailer. The pre-orders I made for both BF4 and Premium from Gamefly have been charged. Games Ive pre-ordered from Amazon did not charge until the code released, but I cant remember how Origin does it.

Also the X25 Air Burst is crazy OP. You can use that thing to destroy people from long range, lots of fun

I just used that thing on a couple rounds of domination. No one will take B or C if a couple guys cover them with that beast from the rooftop. :twisted:

For those with mouse problems - does your mouse software allow you to assign a keyboard key to a mouse button? If so, assign a random letter (that isn't used) to the mouse button and configure BF4's function to that letter. If your mouse software supports profiles, you won't have to manually mess with the mouse config every time you play.

Sorry,forgot to mention it was by Origin my preorder lol.

Most likely won't be withdrawn till the game is official,hearing some people threatning with preorder cancelation cause of beta issues so i figured that is why its still on there.

MP1st - Battlefield 4 Beta – DICE Shows Off Xbox 360 Gameplay, Obliteration Mode Incoming?

Battlefield 4 developers DICE have just posted a brand new trailer showing off some multiplayer beta gameplay on the Xbox 360 console.

It’s looking pretty good, but we want to know what your thoughts are on the current-generation version of Battlefield 4, keeping in mind that what you see in the beta may or may not represent the final product.

You’ll notice that the trailer also shows off some Obliteration gameplay, which suggests to us that the studio may unlock it for the beta in the near future. After all, it is currently listed among the available game modes in the beta, though there are no servers available. What do you think?

I updated the AMD drivers to the beta drivers and my performance was terrible. I was getting gnarly hiccups and freezes, going from 30-40 frames to the teens and single digits. I noticed today on CPU-z my cpu was only registering 2 cores instead of 4? WTF? So, went into msconfig and unchecked the cores box, now it runs like butter. I was even able to bump up the settings and still get 45-60 frames.

my MX518 mouse has two thumb buttons, I tried mapping Melee to both of them, it stuck for one, but trying to set the other seemed to lock up the bind keys screen

I'm not having a problem. Sprint for MB4 and melee for MB5 is my usual setup.

Anyone else having crash to desktops? Occasionally, like one in ten games, BF4 will just crash to desktop.

Also, anytime I get points with the RPG, my score screen at the end of the round shows NaN. Not a Number problem seems kind of strange.

Thought I would post back here with an update.

I tried 320.49 and things were smooth on high settings. I even raised a few settings up to ultra and thing were fine. CPU usage was the same but this time GPU usage was 90%+ as opposed to 40-70% on 331.40.

Now that I've had a chance to actually play the game, I like what I see so far!

I have decided just to run a dual boot partition,used to do this during the vista days when i ran ubuntu alongside vista,till i decided just to stick to xp solely which i did till 7 came out.

Windows 8.1 preview can be downloaded directly from microsoft for free and its good till Jan 15th,only thing i lost was a few hours of my time and a blank dvd disk.

So curiosity got the best of me. While I've run the game on both W7 and W8 machines, I have not run both OS' on the same machine... Until now.

Initially I was going to install it on one of my secondary machines because my main one has so much crap I'd have to rebuild, but the enthusiast in me said screw it, and installed it on my sig box.

My conclusions? You were right, it certainly does run better on W8. While I wasn't suffering from stutter like many are on W7, the performance was significantly better. I went from 45-80fps on W7 to 70-120 fps on W8.

CPU usage was also quite a bit higher for me on W8, upper 80's which is roughly 10-15 points higher than I was registering in W7, but my GPU utilization was also a lot better. Instead of each 680 hovering at around 50%, I was seeing 70-80% utilization on each one.

I wasn't really surprised that the performance was better, but the level of improvement was very surprising. It seems that the beta is "optimized" (and I use that word VERY loosely when talking about this game) to work on the W8 scheduler. I wonder if DICE even tested W7 with this build?

I know how you feel. Initially I didn't upgrade to W8 on my main machine because I hated the UI. After time, I got used to it from using it on other machines. I still didn't like it, but the hate factor wasn't so high, especially with 3rd party start menu utilities. Then it just became a matter of laziness, but this game and the subsequent reports of performance improvements gave me a kick the rear. I HATE doing clean installs on my main machine simply because I rely on it for a lot of things, but luckily I'm just about done rebuilding everything.

I'm still running Vista but will upgrade to 8.1 when it's officially released later this month. Game plays great when it doesn't crash on my rig, I should probably push my i5-2500k a bit more as it's only oc'd to 3.7GHz at the moment (not 4.5).

Really liking what I see so far. The built in VoIP is going to be great for coordinating teamwork.

I played for a bit last night (boy am I rusty!) and the biggest thing I noticed was there seem to be more bugs than last time. It could just be that they affect me more but it does make me a bit concerned. Two of them are incredibly annoying:
-Every time I made a game setting change it drops my into windowed mode so I have to go back in and turn it off
-In about 50% of the games I join the game doesn't take me back to the spawn map when I die. I have to hit Esc and then click 'Resume' to get to the spawn map

There also seems to be a much larger difference in how the vehicles drive. I can only assume my overstearing in the truck makes it look like a drunk driver is on the loose

Just in case anyone that waited for open beta (like I did) has issues finding the download, it's in the demo section in Origin. 5,646.51 MB file size, is that different from the closed one? Origin speed is decent and steady atm.

Its a bug but yes.

FYI the win 8 vs win 7 thing for BF4 is just a driver issue going to resolved in release. It has nothing to do with one being better than the other.

btw Location data is awesome, I like comparing stats with brother easier.
