The verticality of this level is spectacular. Parachuting behind a group of enemies and wiping out three people before anyone even has a clue is uber rewarding.

I got my first knife kill with a parachute in behind a squad of 3->Knife->bang->bang.

Thought I would post back here with an update.

I tried 320.49 and things were smooth on high settings. I even raised a few settings up to ultra and thing were fine. CPU usage was the same but this time GPU usage was 90%+ as opposed to 40-70% on 331.40.

Now that I've had a chance to actually play the game, I like what I see so far!

After reading your post I tried the same and can confirm that 320.49 are a HUGE improvement over the beta drivers for me.

While those mins and maxs are wide the game felt very smooth and i did not notice any dips at all while playing. I think the 18 min came while the game was loading. This was the first truly enjoyable game Ive had. Thanks for posting!

My conclusions? You were right, it certainly does run better on W8. While I wasn't suffering from stutter like many are on W7, the performance was significantly better. I went from 45-80fps on W7 to 70-120 fps on W8.

Man i need a freaking i7 and a motherboard to overclock lol,the two cpu charts flying about claim a 20% difference just at stock between my i5 and a 4770k and that is before a overclock,if the actual game is equally as demanding thinking a haswell build is in my future.

I get about 54-101fps and i hit 70 often while before i could not even touch 70 lol.Keep in mind i am getting these frames at 1366x768 with ultra settings and no msaa with 100% scale resolution with my single gpu,top usage during a full round was 71% usage.

Gonna give 320.49 a try,i keep hearing so much about this particular set of drivers being better then 331.40,had to google the release date as i believe its the 3rd driver to support the gtx770 and the second to support 8.1.

I have to say I really dislike these maps. Way to many people camping on the rooftops. It isn't so bad on Conquest but on Domination it is terrible.

Can't wait for Oct 29th to roll around so I can never play Shanghai again. >_>

Just a few first impressions from 3 matches so far, with the sig rig except I've had win8 for 2-3 months. No stuttering though at 1440p I am asking for trouble and dipping low but not too low to effect me too much. The only issue I had is after nailing a tank, a 2nd one appeared fired the main gun gun right at me and I got the bf4 stopped working prompt as I died. No other issues atm but again just 3 matches so far.

Oh and the map is crap after the building goes down. Everything maxed out with low blur and v sync off. GPU pegged at 99%, CPU between 75-80%

The trick is to parachute down to the roof tops where the campers are. I love jumping off of C and taking out people camping the building above b.

I wish I knew what drivers I had before I upgraded because I was getting great framerates. Upgraded to the latest Nvidia driver, FPS tanked. Installed the beta drivers and am getting like 80% of what I was before. =(

I'm using 331.40 beta drives with my 770 and I get random stutters. I'll try 320.49. Thanks for the info.

Even with 4xMSAA and FXAA on high, I still see a lot of jaggies everywhere. The paint lines in the street, the power lines, the railing and fences, etc. I took a screenshot in the same exact spot with various AA settings and I don't see any difference between any of the FXAA settings. Anyone else notice that?

It might be because of the beta build. The AA not working correctly or at all. I haven't noticed anything, but I don't really go looking.

After playing PC gamers for 20 years or so, I have become used to jaggies. =(

Well, to be fair, the guys who can't barely defrag their harddrives probably don't participate in betas.

Also, I am sure Nvidia and AMD are working on good drivers for BF4 and will be ready around the time of release.

I updated the AMD drivers to the beta drivers and my performance was terrible. I was getting gnarly hiccups and freezes, going from 30-40 frames to the teens and single digits. I noticed today on CPU-z my cpu was only registering 2 cores instead of 4? WTF? So, went into msconfig and unchecked the cores box, now it runs like butter. I was even able to bump up the settings and still get 45-60 frames.

Where are you seeing this in msconfig?

Wouldn't know as i forgot LOL,my only hard drive is a 180gb ssd as i ditched my last spinning platter a long time ago,the term defrag is about as dirty as a $10 hooker in TJ to me.

10 years from now if ssd drives are mainstream,i could sound like a old fart and tell some young nerd that once in a universe a long time ago we had these things called platters and the faster they spin,the faster they run and the faster they run the faster they defrag and i could wait for the stare i get.:awe:

I doubt physical media will ever go away. A lot of backups still use magnetic tape because it stays. Flash media isn't exactly great for backups.

Yes Sir it is. I encountered this, was WTH at first but went with it. Its awesome that a reg RPG locked on the target.

I was carrying an RPG, and saw the soflam lockon ICOn in the disistance, But didn't know what to do to make MY RPG use it. I looked through the RPG sites in that direction, but nothing happened to indicate that I was locking on. What am I missing?

Its a bug but yes.

It's not bug that it locks on, it's just a bug that the vehicle locked on to doesn't hear a warning tone.

I didn't know RPGs could use laser designation........ Well that explains how the fuck people were getting me from a mile away and me not noticing it, lack of a tone lock and all.

I have tried it, but all I usually get is some moron with his mic open so all I hear is gunshots / explosions echoing.

I am glad BF automatically used my headphones for VoIP though. They are set up as completely different speakers (mostly so when I play Dota, I can use them for game sound and play music over my PC speakers), but being able to separate game sound and voice is amazing in every game.

I don't get the dog tag thing on battlelog. Why does it have Left and Right dog tags? Also did they remove the Dog Tags Taken area?

After tweaking some, i got 50fps on GTX 580 win7 beta drivers on all medium settings with textures Ultra. I tell you what, I accidently disabled my mouse software and could not kill anyone thinking it was FPS, but when i enabled it again it was back to feeling all sexy knifing and shooting people.

I've heard quite a bit....thinking of shutting it off, because it usually ends up being some alpha-nerd shouting orders at me or whining the whole time.

Probably won't even use it unless I'm playing with friends.
