Feels like weapons are more inaccurate, I'm controlling the kick OK and firing in bursts but it seems like the 3rd to 5th bullets have more variance than BF3. I'm also a bit rusty so there's that...

Coming from a console COD player these weapons are pretty damn accurate... I can usually go full auto for a whole clip and drop several guys.

Parachuting to a lower roof doesn't count as 'on the move'

I almost never get sniped by "rooftop snipers", am I missing something or is this not an issue except for the fact they are not helping the team?

Not helping the team - esp on Obliteration. I've seen games where half the team is playing with themselves on the rooftops while the other team just steamrolls through the three points in no time.

I think its just from playing in Domination. You are always just a few seconds away from action.

I'm really liking the scoring compared to BF3. It seems like you're rewarded much more for accomplishing/supporting objectives, both offensive and defensively. I'm not a big K/D guy and many times will put myself in harm's way to cap/defend or support the objective in some other way. Not recklessly, but sometimes you just have to go in and take some risks. Also, I've always thought that you can snipe all you want, but unless you come in here and get your hands dirty, you'll never get my flag; same for helos. It seems like BF4 will reward the player that's helping achieve objectives, with relatively less emphasis on kills.

I hear ya about reflexes, at 42yrs old mine sure arent what they used to be. The last time I played Q3A I felt like I ripped my wrist trying to do the things I used to. :'(

I think you can Tab up the scoreboard and select any player at any time.

Lol. My secret to playing any of these games was to lower the sensitivity and torque the heck out of my wrist and mouse while laying my palm on the desk for control.
Now I am paying the piper as my wrist is worn and I am getting early signs of carpal tunnel.

In BF3, I pretty much stopped playing anything but the Close Quarters maps. Sure, shotguns took about as much skill as hitting the Earth with any thrown object, but even then it was fun. People ran in squads, camping was pretty minimum, and only like 1 in every 25 games would anyone snipe.

I love how people complain about being killed by a short range gun, like a shot gun, while they're trying to shoot them with an assault gun 2 feet in front of them and not having the same affect.

Don't put too much stock in that measurement, Domination will usually have a higher SPM since everyone is close proxy, while conquest is the long game.

If you are pubbing the best thing you can hope for is to just have had fun. The auto balancing has always been miserable and you never know what your team is gonna do.

If you really want to measure KDR and SPM then you need to scrim with a clan or go ladder

So servers are up from 64 maximum slots to 70 for Battlefield 4.

I ordered a server today and got one with 70 slots. 6 extra slots for 2 commanders and 4 spectator slots. Yes, you have to pay to allow spectators to have slots on your server. Not sure how it will work for smaller sized servers. Maybe you have to give up actual player slots to be spectator specific ?

Mouse + KB is my preferred method, and I've played the living shit out of helis and jets from BF2 on. Better precision.


As for practicing, low population servers are the best, although BF4 Retail will be including a practice range, so you can just use that.

Just add people and join their games. I think there was also two Anandtech platoons. One was full, but the other had space the last time I looked at it.

That is a chatlog from darklord about game stuff some interesting tidbits.
1. Weapon balance does not have to be patched, it can be done "on the fly" vs bf3 you had to wait for a patch so many months.
2. Every major bug in beta was already fixed in release build, the beta build was specifically stripped to just test network performance.

SERVER SETTINGS
There are 3 presets in Battlefield 4;

Official - Your run of the mill, 'normal' mode. This contains 3d spotting, audio spotting, full ttk, ammo pool system, etc. What we've come to expect of the 'new' Battlefield games.

Ranked - I'll come to this (literally) in a second.

Unranked - Servers with admin scripts, like limited amounts of guns, not being allowed to do certain things etc. blah blah you get the gist.


So what is in Ranked mode?
Ranked mode provides stat tracked, ranked gameplay with changes to the 'core' game. This is so that when people use the auto search feature, they aren't dropped into a match they wouldn't be comfortable in. The people looking for ranked games, would know full well what they're searching for.
What makes this so great however, is how much we can customize whilst keeping the game ranked.

The following, which we've been asking for in a 'classic' preset are available in ranked mode, whilst keeping stat tracking and ranking available;

3d spotting on/off - Turning it off immediately makes the server label 'hardcore'
magazine pool as opposed to ammo pool
health regen on/off - DarkLord wasn't sure whether this also included vehicles.
Squad leader spawning only on/off
Change the ticket bleed rate - Please make it like Bad Company 1, where if you had all flags capped, it was a known loss.


Having all unlocks in the server is unfortunately an 'unranked' setting. I'm sorry I got it mixed up with a different message he posted in the chat. Sorry for the confusion.

So I know what you're thinking;
"If these settings fall under 'hardcore' mode, won't we have to suffer with even lower TTK?!"
That's the beauty of it, you can set the TTK to 100% and keep the server settings, despite it being 'hardcore.' It's unconfirmed if you can make the TTK even longer, but at least we can deal with the 'normal' TTK.

I wonder how do they want to achieve this, because all the data are physically present in some files and have to be changed somehow.

I hope finding a suitable HC server will be easier than all that makes it sound. Hopefully there will be filters we can set to make it easier to find exactly what we want. I must have low TTK and no 3d spotting, the rest I can deal with.
