The lag is awesome. Especially with client side detection. I love playing on European servers and having everybody get pissed because they can't hit me, yet I can kill them! I've been banned from a couple of servers because of this. It's still fun though.
No doubt we would be on the poopy end of the stick and be stuck playing "at home" here in the US.

Ive been kicked and banned too, and now most euro servers are now IP closed to US players. Meanwhile I have to deal with thier laggy asses over here because our admins are too nice to ban Euro IP's.

Pixelenemy - Battlefield 4: People will have to “wait and see” if there will be free modes or maps claims DICE

Battlefield 4: People will have to “wait and see” if there will be free modes or maps claims DICE
Authored by Alex Co

We recently had the chance to have a quick chat with DICE General Manager Karl Magnus Troedsson regarding Battlefield 4 and one of the few pertinent things we thought of asking is: will BF4 have any free maps or modes just like what they did with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ?

Sure, it might have just been a map reworked to fit a specific mode, but it gave the game more legs and it being free was certainly a big help for adoption rates, too.

So, can we expect the same thing for Battlefield 4, then? We’ll just have to “wait and see” according to DICE.

Pixel Enemy:EA has announced that BF3 Premium now has over 4 million members, and needless to say, has been a huge success for DICE. Does this put an end to “free” maps and modes like in Bad Company 2 or is DICE open to dishing out more free content?

KM Troedsson:Battlefield 3 Premium was a huge success, and we’re excited about what we are delivering with Battlefield 4 Premium. Through Battlefield 4 Premium we will be delivering free content on a weekly basis in the form of assignments, challenges and more. Whether or not this may occasionally include a new map or mode you’ll just have to wait and see.

Hopefully, DICE will throw a bone to non-Premium members so they can play on a new map/mode or two for free, no?

Stay tuned to our full interview set to be published soon.

You can read up on more BF4 by reading the change log DICE collected based on the beta, as well as DICE saying how they’re “not happy” with Battlefield 3′s destruction.

ok, who all did upgrades between the beta and retail release?

I tried to upgrade to Windows 8, which neccessitated an SSD upgrade, since my 64 Gb one did not nearly have 20 GB free. Should be arriving today.

Other than that, I should be set. The beta ran fine on my machine.

I did a pre beta upgrade -> 1TB EVO SSD.

Maybe another upgrade post BF4 launch depending on how the cards hold up to the final build optimizations. The 580's were not bad on a 1440 monitor.

It sucks, but I refuse to upgrade until DDR4 comes out and is widespread. There's nothing worth upgrading to from a 2500k at 4.5ghz yet.

I'm contemplating Windows 8, but I may wait until after the Mantle Update in December before I decide. I'm testing Windows 8.1 on a VM at the moment and I don't mind it after installing Classic Shell. The metro interface is just so completely disorienting on a desktop computer. I'm sure other upcoming games will show the same gains that BF4 did in Windows 8.1, and if that's the case then it will be time to upgrade.

Long story short I was happy enough with 2500k 4.5ghz and 7970 performance to last me until an actual motherboard upgrade is warranted.

I did a pre beta update of adding a second GTX670 for SLI, and recently made room on my primary SSD for BF4 by moving some older games to a secondary SSD.

And like Vulgar, I believe my oc'd 2500K will do until the next complete build is needed. After all the patches the beta ran great other than a few random crashes, but I expect those to be ironed out before or at least soon after launch.

I am holding out until NV releases something significantly better than the 780 that isnt $1000. I think what I have now is good enough. Maybe another 680 if I come across a good deal, but the beta ran at over 60fps with all Ultra settings and effects on low. I figure retail should run even better. I'm at the point where I would need to upgrade the CPU and mobo if I were to step up, and its not enough of a performance increase to warrant that upgrade.

I've been running Windows 8 from the start. I actually like it better than Windows 7. It has a learning curve, but the second you get used to it I think it's much easier or me to use than Windows 7.

I installed Windows 8 this weekend. Still getting used to it.

Upgraded earlier from a 2500k to a 3770k.

Still using a GTX 580. Not sure what to do video card wise.

Bought my 770 in my sig a couple days before the charts popped about with vram usage numbers but still the card held up well enough and with my settings i never touched 1.8gb in the beta.

Been giving a lot of thought to replacing my mobo and cpu and dropping in a haswell i7 and a z87 board but not to sure yet or maybe just dropping in a 3770 non k.Will see how the final game handles before i do anything.

I have 2 670s I've been using since my 5870s died (and thankfully so, because I don't know how well they'd hold up for BF4). I am sure I'll handle BF4 fine for now. I've got my eye on a a new card though (depending how the 290x and 780ti perform).

You guys thinking Windows 8.1 could still outrun 7 by a long mile when the game is out? This has been one upgrade i have not spent money on yet as i still have a hard time believing there was such a difference in the beta.

8.1 preview and the nvidia drivers caused all kinds of havoc with most of my other games, hoping since it is officially out now rtm and the latest drivers could be the best yet for nvidia owners on 8.1?

Most applications you can launch by hitting the windows key then 3 letters.
Example: Want to launch league of legends, Press Windows Key, Type "L O L" then Enter.

I find the application launching is quite fast and the boot times are great.

Probably give even more thought to replacing that 770 with a R9 290. I don't really think the GTX 770 at $400 is a good buy but well whatever.
Also BF4 uses the amount of VRAM you have. So more VRAM the better.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6994/nvidia-geforce-gtx-770-review/10 That is why i bought the 770 over the 7970GE. Look at the 1080p numbers. This is my primary game i play hence my choice.

Much as i love my 770 i see no reason for anything better, this card in all my other games is overkill honestly and if i wasn't playing BF3 or upcoming BF4 i think i would be perfectly happy if my old 7850 was still around as that card was good till it fried.:|

Too exciting some might say. I bought a 7970 to replace a 5870 in my 2nd gaming machine (I want to check out Mantle when it's rolled out) which came with 3 games, so now the backlog I was doing so well to reduce is stacked up again, that's before I even count Batman AO and AC Black Flag, not to mention most of my gaming hours will likely be in BF4 MP!

1st world problems, I know.

Replaced the CPU cooler (more of a side-grade) and upped my OC to 4.6
Upgraded from a Sapphire 7970 (essentially GE) to an OC'd EVGA 780GTX SC...which I need to register and get ready to step up to the 780ti that will hopefully make it before the end of Nov.

Already had SSDs, and just set up 8.1, so I should be good to go :awe:

EDIT: Also, DOG PUNCH™!!!!

(I am a dog and cat owner and do not support actual animal abuse of any kind, unless said dog is trying to rip of your arm. Or is a representation of COD:G)
