ROF makes a huge difference, to be honest. That's why the ACW is so good, because of TTK.

I find TTK a useless metric as it assumes all of your rounds are hitting the target. Low weapon TTK's typically mean high ROF which in turn get high spread values to balance out. At short ranges ACW is sweet, at medium to long it's bad. In short, it depends on your playstyle as well as do you typically burst/mag dump/etc.

I'm at the opposite end as I like low ROF/high damage -- a la SCAR-H/G3A3. Still not happy they moved the SCAR-H to the assault class and the G3 isn't in the game -- hopefully it shows up in an expansion. I'm using the AK-5C as a substitute for the time being when rolling engy and it's not too bad.

Crashes which seem to be a way of life these days. KDR is getting a little better though at times I can't seem to hit anyone.
The observation of being more accurate with red dots vs scopes seems to be true. I put an ACOG on a SCAR and I couldn't hit anyone at a good distance when using the red reflex got me headshots. Same with other guns like the RFB. iron sigths were fine but switching to a 4x scope, really bad.
The ACW has too much ROF for me and I didn't think it was that way in BF3?
I'm liking the recon class more when I sit in and get more kills. Maybe not running arund is the way to play this game. In BF3, even as recon, I still capped flags and ran around very much.

I remember reading somewhere that BF4 doesn't like overclocked CPU's. I've confirmed for my system that BF4 doesn't like me overclocking my CPU even in the slightest. I can go up 0.1 and that's about it. If I take it higher I will freeze and crash.

Just thought I mention for those having issues.

Had some good rounds with Childs last night - too bad we kept losing (thanks in part to my not knowing all the maps!).

I'm reading a lot from folks who have tons of crashes, and I've got to think it might be worth a reinstall and updating of punkbuster. I haven't had a single crash of the retail game. This is on Win7 (maybe a factor), on two Nvidia cards and one AMD card.

I have noticed a few insta-deaths here and there, which is pretty annoying. I don't doubt there are a few bugs in the code.

I was with you guys for a little while until I crashed. I played a solid 4 maps on that server prior to that. It was time for me to go sleep anyway.

i'm infinitely worse at this game than any of you guys... my kdr is .32 yes, you read that right. POINT 3-fucking-2. i die. allllll the time. i unload a full clip right in a guys face and he two-shots me and still has 40% or better health. i went a round at 0-13.

I got off to a pretty rough start myself. I was at .25 KDR my first 4 games and finally raised it to .45 lol. There are so many ways to die in this game it's not funny. I finally wised up and started grabbing any vehicles I could. Easier to rack up kills and you live a tad longer than just running around on foot. I finally ended the night with a few games where I had more kills than deaths.

The amount of detail in this game makes it hard for me to pick out the enemy on foot if they aren't spotted. Those first games I died endlessly to guys I didn't even see till it was too late. Statistically I did way better in BF2 and BF:BC2 but I do enjoy this game. I will stick with it and hopefully get my skill level up. I have mostly been playing engineer and will try sniper next. Sure makes me miss BF2 and sniping on Sharqi Peninsula..omg I could rack up so many kills with all the sweet spots to shoot from. Or if I wasn't in a mood to snipe I'd go engineer in Ghost Town and rack up kills with mines and shotgun

SCAR should always have been in the assault class though

So since today server patch I'm having some issues including random crashes game freezes and a few wide server crashes, not sure what they did but it sure didn't help.

Perhaps, but they did a good job balancing it in BF3. As an assault weapon it would have been counter productive to the G3. In BF4 there isn't even a choice right now for a low ROF/high dmg gun. /lame

Edit: I was wrong, the ACE 52 has what I'm talking about -- need to get that unlocked.

The ACE CQB is the closest you will get to the G3A3 in BF3 for the carbines. However, the effective distance is a lot shorter and the ROF is a lot higher. The closest actually is the ACE SV for the DMR however, DMR's are really wonky in this game. Either the BF3 DMR's were really good or they are under powered in BF4. Be prepared to miss a lot with them and if you go for the body you need 3-4 hits.

Zavod 311 is my fav map so far, lots of places to move around and stuff to hide behind.

My aiming increased a ton by using desktop laminate vs cloth mousepad. I mean I was going 4-10 on average to flipping that around. lol
My biggest problem i've found is when i come across a squad taking a point and I surprise them, i get to antsy and just open up on once guy real fast, missed opportunity to slay them all maybe.

Nah its fine, been running 2600k @ 4.5ghz without any problems.

I feel so obsolete playing BF4! I used to be damn good in BF1942 but as the newer releases get more fast faced and complicated I suffer.

My three most frustrating scenarios which play out often during my gameplay:

1) See an enemy run by me and did not notice me. I chase and get behind him until he pauses and then I begin to unload my clip into his back. He promptly realizes I am behind him, spins around and shoots a quick burst to my head and kills me.

2) I spot an enemy at a medium distance, I crouch or prone and begin firing quick bursts at him trying to aim upper torso to head area. My cross hairs blink so I know I am hitting. But he quickly identifies where I am shooting from, and takes a quick single burst while standing and kills me.

3) Since situation #2 happens a lot meaning I cannot shoot from a distance I try running around frantically hoping to get in close combat situations so I am more likely to score kills. A recon guy comes running around a corner with a sniper rifle right in front of me. For a brief moment I think oh good easy kill but before I can left click my mouse he one shots me.

I am amazed how quick people are and how perfectly they aim for head shots most of the time.

Any suggestions on trying to improve? I feel frustrated a lot because I feel like my shots are not going where I am aiming. My ping is usually below 10 ms because I am using local servers and I have FIOS. Is it possible the ping is TOO good?! It's odd though because sometimes I log in to a server and it feels like I am making my shots then I log on to another and the ping is about the same but my shots are not hitting.

Also despite my better GFX capability I toned down all my graphics settings to low. I did notice an improvement in my accuracy after doing this. Any settings I can change to ensure I am operating at optimal performance?

I've been playing TDM maps exclisively the last 2 days and not one server crash / boot. I still have audio cutting out on 2 specific maps (one is the island level, forgot the name of the other one). I can echo a lot of other users statements here - I suck at this game! So far I've played a few dozen rounds and only had 2-3 rounds where I was over 55% K. This past weekend I hopped on a server and started out 1-12, and our team was getting slaughtered (we were down 300+ points in Conquest). I finished the round then I rage quit!

Open up two or three of the bf4 AppCrash_bf4.exe files in Notepad, and send me a PM putting the crash log in code tags. I want to compare against the ones I was having to see if they are the same, and then look back to see what I did to resolve it if possible. I haven't had a crash in a week, but I did a few things since then while troubleshooting various BF4 and Nvidia issues.

Looking at this, the ACW-R is significantly better than any other carbine except the AK-5C or M4. The ACW-R is terribly inaccurate though, I really can't handle the gun - I prefer the AK-5C or SG553.

You might like the ACE 21 CQB or the burst firing M4.

Seriously, got my AEK last night and it's great. I can handle the kick, the high ROF makes me happy in the pants.

I am not too happy with the AEK's kick. Makes anything but close range combat too unreliable. I got the Famas last night but I have not bothered to try it yet since it has higher ROF than the AEK plus a smaller clip size... yuck. I am curious to see if it has the same kick as the AEK though.

So far my favorite (as per the one I was the most successful with so far) was the one before the AEK I think SAR-71 or some shit like that?

i'm having a good time playing. i love obliteration. and the maps are pretty cool so far of the ones i have seen. i guess i don't get mad at how i do, because that isn't the only part of the game. would i like to be better? sure, but i'm still helping my team the best i can. i repair tanks left and right. i spot. i capture flags. i follow orders and get a lot of kill assists.

and when i do get those rare kills, i yell "eat it, bitch!" at my screen and laugh.

so, if anyone wants to play with someone who will always make your score seem awesome, team up with me! i suck! but, i have a good time.

Between you and me we can get a whopping .79 kd ratio, that's almost a full kill!!

And yup, unless I am getting spawn camped I am having fun. The crashes seem to have lessened some, I'm hoping to get some more hours in this weekend.

The AEK is a monster in this game. Heavy barrel and Angled grip. It has about the same spread as the M416 except with more recoil, which you can deal with. And the fire rate is significantly better. 750 for the M416 vs 900 for the AEK

The FAMAS is fickle. It complains and acts up constantly. But treat it right, and it's magic.

Loving the game though, and the geo-leaderboards are really cool, comparing yourself to your town, state, etc.

Gotta say that Zavod 311, Operation Locker, and Flood Zone are my favorite maps so far. Paracel storm looks the best during that awesome storm.
