SECOND ASSAULT

As we know, Second Assault will feature four popular re-imagined maps from Battlefield 3. What will be different about these maps, and what would make us want to play them again? Today, we’re treated to a few of the specifics we can expect to see, including new Levolution events, weapons, a returning game mode, and reports of an “all-new” vehicle.

THE MAPS

Operation Metro

The map that everyone loves to hate is back like a bad relationship. The new Operation Metro 2014 is set two years later and features post-nuclear Paris. The subway tunnels we all know and love are now flooded. Players will be able to destroy the ceilings to create new routes. Plus, elevators are now operational!
Caspian Border

We were treated to a first view of this level in the BF4 Showdown event. The once destroyed communications tower in the middle of the map is intact, and players can use it to maintain a presence at the central base….until it’s taken down that is! A concrete wall winds around the map, changing the flow of game play. Spiked bollards can be raised to deter vehicles.
Operation Firestorm

The new Operation Firestorm will actually be a fire-storm. The pipelines of the refinery will be destructible, causing flammable hazards to spread.
Gulf of Oman

On the redefined Oman, players will fight through a raging sandstorm that rolls into the Battlefield. Try sniping through that!
WHAT’S NEW?

Here is a brief listing of what’s coming with the Second Assault DLC:

• Five new weapons
• An all-new vehicle
• Ten assignments

In addition to this, Capture the Flag makes its way back from Battlefield 3! This is a personal favorite of mine, and I think it will be an interesting twist to play this mode on the re-created vanilla BF3 maps. What do you think?

CHINA RISING

As usual, December comes bearing gifts, including the new China Rising DLC. DICE promises us all-new vehicles and “high-tech military equipment”. As with Second Assault, four maps will be included in the China Rising DLC.

Here are the names of the four maps, along with some sneak peek images!

• Silk Road
• Altai Range
• Guilin Peaks
• Dragon Pass

Two land and air vehicles have been promised, the dirt-bike being one of the favorites returning from BF3′s End Game DLC. Jet pilots will be pleased to know that the Air Superiority game mode will be making a comeback as well.
MORE DLC

Naval Strike will storm the Battlefield in Spring 2014. Coming Summer 2014, Dragon’s Teeth will feature urban warfare. The last expansion, Final Stand, is also tentatively slated for Summer 2014. We’ll bring you all the latest DLC news as it’s released, so stay tuned!

conquest was basically all i played in BF3, the BF4 maps seem worse for it however, too easy for 1 side to dominate with little effort at least on 64 player large

gotta try less people see if it makes it better

64 player is probably the problem imo. I've been really pleased with all the maps so far, though I think most of them have a bit too much vehicle presence by default - Golmud in particular.

Also the China maps look very green. It looks nice but I have a terrible time seeing people in forested areas lol.

Id love to, what time? Im in the Eastern time zone but could stay up later tonight if need be.

I got the MTAR easy enough, but the L85 assignment is giving me fits.

I dont have anything going on tonight, should I should be home ~6:30pm PST and play till whenever, or Sat around 12PM PST. And in general if I'm already playing just send a msg and I'll join to bang it out quick. I got the MTAR and MP7 last night, although I forget which one required the grenade kill but that took on conquest. All those easy back kills I gave up trying to get a grenade kill. hahaha...didn't help that for almost a whole round went by before I realized the reason why I was just gettings hit markers was because I was using flashbangs.

Nonsense! That's a classic tank map. I went 17-0 in a tank on that one last night, and I was getting kill stolen like crazy toward the end.

I think vehicles on the whole have been overly nerfed in all aspects. I'd like to see vehicles do more damage to everything but also take more damage from everything. As it stands they tend to plink at each other ineffectively too much, do too little damage to infantry, but infantry also don't damage them enough except for the fact that they can get overwhelmed by sheer numbers very easily, especially since infantry carry so much anti vehicle ammo.

I'm going to try to jump on tonight for some of those assignment weapon unlocks. I haven't done the campaign, so all I really have is stuff I've unlocked from earning points in weapon categories.

Same here, I'll help out too. Chasing that unlock the regular way takes a long time even without crashes.

Also, when you select a server, do you guys see the info right away? I mean the ticket count for both teams for example if it's a conquest server. For me it's just DICE's square and underscore forever where the ticket info should be. Hate going into rounds that are moments before ending or into steamrolled battles.

I would like to get in on this too, I'll never unlock some of these in a normal game.

Played last night for about 2 hours and didn't have any crashes at all, a new record for myself.

Stealth jets absolutely need a buff. They are the weakest airborne vehicle in the game. <--- top1000 BF3 jet pilot

I've gotten more kills by bailing from the jet and dropping C4/shooting rockets than from the actual jet itself.

I know if you are on an NVIDIA card and not on the latest drivers, you will get the disco affect. No idea for AMD/ATI.

Since patch I'mgetting the multicolor flicker. I am running an AMD 7970 with latest beta drivers

Everyone is getting it and DICE have acknowledge that this is a bug.
Seems this company just can't do anything right.
