And LVGs and v40 spam

The map design can't handle all the explosive spam they added in BF4. At least the TDM iteration of the map is still pretty enjoyable.

Metro is a absolute disaster this time around. I groan every time I see it now that I've played it a few times. Too much explosive and not enough routes around. Its extremely easy to get trapped in your uncap on CQ, especially if you're the side spawning inside.

My #1 biggest complaint right now is the server 'tick' rate with updating player positions. Dying to someone who rounds a corner and sees you at least 100ms if not closer to 300ms before you see them is endless infuriating.

Guilty of this. :$

Only way I could get 2x Kill Assist ribbons was using the LVG, after trying many times with bullets. Its not my fault the enemy would always die when I shot them.

Now that I completed that assignment, I am avoiding Metro.

Is this something new? I have not noticed this in my playing, but I could just be assuming people are rounding the corners and getting nice shots off on me. I'll have to pay attention.

New 393.46MB patch is out.

We've started rolling out a new game update for the PC version of Battlefield 4. Among other items, this update addresses the so called "sound loop crash" that caused the game to freeze. You may experience some downtime while this update is rolling out.

Feb 25 PC Game update notes
-Fix for the so called “sound loop crash” issue that caused the game to freeze
-Fix for an issue that sometimes prevented players from shooting while in the gunner position of a vehicle
-Fix for the headshot icon appearing incorrectly at non-headshot deaths, such as suicide or dying of an explosion
-General stability improvements

Battlelog has also been updated. http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/forum/threadview/2979150493857293792/

3.5 months to fix the damn sound loop crash? Holy crap, good thing they gave up developing stuff to concentrate on fixes...

If only they would also stop introducing new bugs everytime they fix an old one. The introduction of stutter for me was hugely unwelcome!

It's actually been fixed and broke again recently, fortunately I never saw it the second time around.

Its been around since day 1. The way the ticks works rewards aggressive play. If you're moving vs camping you'll have a substantial advantage. I actually don't mind it vs the reverse. At least it rewards the right style of play. FWIW its also why you sometimes get shot by people not facing you, get counter-knifed stabbing someone in the back, etc, etc.

I died to a guy camping a closet on Metro due to this. He'd see my map ping as I cleared out a few of his buddies and then would just pop out and shotgun spray the hall I was coming in. It didn't matter what I did, he'd always be rounding a corner coming out of a closet and have 100-200ms on me.

If you know what this whole thing means, you can know when it's a good time to push and when it's an extremely bad time to push. Long walls before corners is bad to get caught on such as the walls on the sides of buildings without doors where you're exposed for 3-5 seconds as you run from one end of a building to another. Someone can just round the corner in front of you and kill you before you ever get to respond.

I'm not camping, I'm trying to press up but the guy camping the building has all of the advantage.

Sounds to me he was running a chest with ESP. Otherwise, how else would he know to round the corner? Only public cheats are discovered and banned through punkbuster. The other cheats are undetected on FF.

I don't think you understand what you are talking about - the game does not give the person a two tenth (200ms) head start on your location..... And change your server lag....

There are other ways of predicting movement of enemy players, either radar, or just listening with a good set of speakers can give a lot away as well. Not to mention a popular choke point, which you can just shoot down and wish for the best...

I can't stand when people confuse game mechanics and lag - and then throw around buzz words like GLITCH or AIMBOTS or HACKS...just saying....

Yup. Watching the mini map and predicting where people will be is just good gameplay. If you know someone is going to be around a corned you start firing your weapon before rounding the corner. That way you have bullets on the way while they are still reacting to you showing up.

I understand exactly what I'm talking about. I don't understand how you fail to grasp why the low tickrate of 10 is an issue and causes what I'm explaining.

I'm not crying hacks or aimbot, I've seen those in action and know what they are.

Lets say I am running down a hallway towards a T junction. I'm coming from the bottom of the T, the player I'm trying to kill because I know he's camping is waiting on the left side of the T junction.

If I come around the left corner on the T junction at 0.100 seconds, he will see me on his screen a minimum of 0.100 after the fact as that's when the server updates (every 10th of a second, .100, .200, .300, etc). So I have at least 0.100 seconds where I'm not even on his screen but I'm able to start shooting at him.

If I come around the left corner on the T junction at .150 or later, the server probably will update my location as still around the corner out of his LOS at 0.200 and give me an extra .050 seconds of action in which to shoot them before they re-act.

Vice versa, if he's camping that corner and knows I'm coming because I've made myself aware on the minimap through a previous engagement or a spot, or he's holed up on a well known choke point, he can pop around the corner and shoot down the length of the T towards me with the same effect in that I won't see his character update and come around the corner. for at minimum 0.100 seconds.

I've died plenty of times without ever getting a shot off while knowing exactly where some one is around a corner and being ready to fire but losing the tick rate update battle because they were closer to the corner and came around before I could.

But sure, go ahead, call me out for saying "Hacks" or "LAAAAGGGG" or w/e makes you feel better. This is a definite netcode/update rate issue despite what you'll pretend.

That doesn't work because you don't actually see them yet and therefore cannot hit them. You might be able to trigger a suppression effect, but you cannot "preload" rounds in the air like that. You can throw a C4 or a grenade and hit them but rounds in flight won't. On their end the rounds will never have left your gun if they initiate coming around the corner first.
