HDDs aren't unused tech (they are the default) and the load time bonus isn't justifiable at all. While it's the best overall upgrade it's also one that impact actual game play by close to 0.

Bonus? Its not like they are artificially delaying HDD users. They're giving HDD users a load time bonus now.

They've been out for years, they're cheap, and they are pretty standard in any gaming PC build. We aren't talking office machines here. If we're handicapping people for having better hardware on PC we might as well start capping the resolution and frame rate. Lock the render settings too. Point is you need to keep with the times on PC if you want to be competitive. If you can't afford gaming on PC you might consider a console. Everything is fair there and you don't have to ever upgrade.

Bonus as in advantage, as in lower load time. They are not giving HDD users a faster load time...

Your comparison to hardware/settings that affects normal game play is way off base, I explained the difference in the first post just so no one would make this comparison. It fails on just about every meaningful level.

If you're running BF4 off a hard drive, you're going to suffer badly in terms of load times. My poor sap of a brother has my old Intel X25-M 80GB, and BF4 is on his hard drive. Sometimes it takes him so long to load that I'm not even sure he's still connected to the server. And that's on a 4670K/HD7870 system, so it's plenty fast otherwise.

I've just moved both my systems to SSD-only for apps, and it makes a huge difference in load times for every game, not just BF4. I used to have a hybrid SSD in one system, but it simply wasn't good enough. I'd recommend Crucial's MX100, which is close to $0.40/GB.

They are handicapping SSD users now. That's not the same as a bonus, but calling it a bonus to the HDD users is closer to the truth than saying SSD users got a bonus with the recent 15s round timer.

Talking about other hardware is completely relevant. If you want a completely level platform, PC is not your platform. Just because it doesn't support your world view does mean it "fails" or is "off base".

Cool I'll have to get a SSD finally.

I've thought about getting one but I would look at a few and can't decide or spend the time to research them. The prices are not bad (thinking ~500 GB one for $200 or so) and performance is probably pretty hoss.

But then I'd have to format, so that I could have Windows 7 and all my stuff on the SSD... ugh

Its possible to migrate over without a reinstall... just not really the ideal way to do it. You have to clone the drive and then align the sectors. I did it once.

I´m pretty sure that if you use W7 built in backup, the sectors are aligned correctly once you restore onto an SSD.

I'm not sure if it was the server I was on last night, or just the crowd playing. I felt like I was playing vs a whole lot of aimbots and wall hacks. Constantly getting blindsided by people and taking long range headshots from things like LMG and pistols. Saw one guy get banned from the server for cheats while I was on.

Played on big park map (laupani gardens?) That map is sniper heaven. Miles of open space surrounded with elevated hidey spots. Long distances to run and no vehicles make it not much fun for anyone but the snipers. You do a lot better just sitting and camping people trying to run across the park.

Propaganda was the other one I got to play. Its fairly large as well and has some big open spots. Urban areas are fairly dense though. Long games on the maps means a lot of the cover gets mowed down. Liked it better than the other, but you really have to be on your toes with all the angles of exposure. Probably better in chainlink.

I felt like I was playing COD on the new maps. Definitely not a fan of them right now. It may have been the server I was on, but It seemed like one team could easily steam-roll the other team.

It didn't get any better after you left. Lost every game by 200+ tickets.

Ive only played 4 or5 games on three different maps so far, and all of those games but one being Domination, the other was Chain Conquest. Most of the Dom maps seem to big for that game mode and they all have 2 flags placed in close proximity with the 3rd off in the distance which makes holding 2 of the 3 far too easy for players that use common sense. (although there seems to be an extreme shortage of those....but I digress )

The one Chain Conquest game I played sucked, but I was on a crappy team that got trounced so I will hold off judgment at least until I get to experience it from the other side.

Gonna try to get in there and play some regular conquest tonight, time for play has been scarce for me lately.

The new maps mostly suck to be honest. Pearl market is a bit of a cluster design. SUnken Dragon nothing but snipefest. Propaganda looks nice but tanks and no cover. Garden has a nice levolution, but it gets boring after the 15th time and the map design sucks on that, like DICE put the flag right next and above the US spawn which was pretty idiotic.

I really enjoy Dragon's Teeth. Just seems like the right balance of frenetic energy with the option to explore. I say this as someone who despises COD MP (at least since the last 5 iterations). I really like the chain mode, which I think can encourage more co-op behavior.

I had such high hopes for Carrier Assault mode and was sorely disappointed. Maybe since I didn't have any expectations for Dragon's Teeth the low bar was easier to overcome.

Is Dragons Teeth much more stable as a dlc over the vanilla maps and other dlc? Wanna try something new that is hopefully not frustrating. Every time i play this game i have gotten so frustrated with issues iv'e stopped playing it so hoping Dragons Teeth keeps me in the game.

Did play some CTE recently and oddly enough this foreign conquest server ran smoother then any of the retail usa servers, but unless Battlelog is half broken there was one entire conquest server apparently running which is slim picking. Is CTE that dead?

I dont see any reason why Dragons Teeth would be any more or less stable than any other part of the game on your machine, thankfully the entire game runs like butter on mine.

I would guess that the CTE is dead because the "netcode" and most other issues have been fixed, I dont know what more they could be working on at this point.
