it's hard to believe DICE actually has a QA manager.
Is it just me or is there little to no splash damage in this game?
Tanks
RPG
UAV
Helicopter rockets
Anyone else not able to bind mouse buttons when running as admin? I have to choose between seeing pings and using one of my side buttons to spot.
The splash damage perk greatly increases your lethality with these weapons.
If you're using a Logitech mouse try launching Setpoint as admin too. This fixed the problem for me.Anyone else not able to bind mouse buttons when running as admin? I have to choose between seeing pings and using one of my side buttons to spot.
Client update 523648 will be available during Monday

Here's some of the other issues they have been looking in to:
Adding a region filter to the server browser, Updater not working, Not being able to see through the window on the fixed machine gun shield, Saving kit configurations, Issues with two people in the same house both playing the game, VOIP issues, Server full messages from Play Now, Cheaters on the Leaderboard, Server autobalance, a squad rush changemap crash.

This is a particularly interesting post on the BFBC2 start-up and update process:

Very interesting post/thread on Points after death/VOIP after death:Source (JoeGrant is the QA manager at DICE)
Possibly still using the old client version which has unoptimized network code? Just a guess.Don't know if it's me but all night the AT server was lagging. I was getting big lag spikes all night.
Can anyone recommend me some good 32 players servers in which spawn killing isn't authorized/tolerated? Because, so far, all the servers I've been on have some ten years-old having fun spawn killing in main deployment areas and destroy vehicles before anyone can take them, and to put it simply, I don't like that, I've had my fare share of such kids in BF 1942 and especially in BF2... I guess I should have expected it to also occur in BC2, but at least in BF2 I knew some servers in which doing that would have you kicked and then permanently banned if one came back and tried again.

So in other words; they are once again releasing a half assed patch...... but but but, at least they are 'looking into' some of the real issues...they arent working on any of them but they are thinking about working on them....

Because that costs money and I am pretty sure BFBC2 doesn't come with a dedicated server client?
After proclaiming its committment to dedicated servers with Bad Company 2 on PC (much to the delight of fans), developer DICE has taken a bit of a step back. We learn now while the servers will still be dedicated for more or less optimal online play, hosts will have to rent servers through one of their authorized hosts, meaning it won't be possible (or difficult, at least) to make your own. Hosts have already been picked for "all major regions of the world."
Here's some of what you are missing if you never bothered to play the single player campaign: YouTube.

Laaaammmme! This is almost as bad as Infinity Ward locking out dedicated servers completely. I'm guessing it's for the same reason. They want to lock out custom user made content so people will buy their DLC.

Not necessarily. Mods have a very proven track record of splintering the community, and I say that as a former mod maker myself. God, I remember trying to find just one SOF2 server that hadn't been bastardized by a bunch of mods, and the same went for UT2kx. BF2 was a little better, but not much.
There are a lot of ways to interpret why DICE did what they did with the dedicated server program, but one very feasible explanation is that they just wanted to keep it simple for mainstream players, and personally I kind of appreciate it.
Eh I just can't agree with this. Some of my favorite games started out as mods, and I hate to see every FPS going down this closed off route on such an open platform. If they're worried about lazy people getting confused by modded servers
