Still have long load times... nothing changed from the 10.3 beta for me.

Same here. I saw comments that it would fix the load times - got all excited - downloaded the new drivers and installed then - joined a BFBC2 and got my hopes crushed as the load time didn't change in any noticable way

That sucks, sometimes when I'm in a Rush game and on the attackers side my team will have one of the objectives set by the time I spawn.

It sure would be nice if DICE would allow your load outs to be saved locally in a config. That way you could jump right in the action..

I feel your pain, I am the same way...by the time you get into a game...everyone is already onto the second flag!

Can anyone else comment on displayed PING values in game vs in server browser...

For instance...I go through the painful process of refreshing servers, find one that has a decent group of players and a decent ping (less than 60 for arguments sake)

I get into the game...start playing and then display the scoreboard...and EVERY ONE's ping is over 150 or higher...

I am just curious which is the correct value...if any...

Also, as for the recent comments about spraying and praying...

My three comments on this are...

1. shoot in bursts if you want any chance of hitting anything consistently...
2. it sucks, but having better weapons and mods does help...the red dot is very helpful once I finally got it.
3. going against people who have a higher level generally isn't going to end well...

I am finally at level 15 and have some of the higher end weapons...my K/D above 1...
When going against someone who is a higher level I generally get my ASS handed to me either because they are just better or they have 'IMO' god guns like that M60 and red dot...

I have COUNTLESS times gotten the drop on someone or started shooting first at a close range with an engineer gun...only to have the guy with the M60 turn and wipe me out inside of 3-4 seconds...

It is a little disheartening when I am sniping from across the map or a long ways away...hit someone (medic) who turns and knows where I am...points and sprays and kills me but that is part of the game...

So do you have an ATI card or Nvidia card (only asking because your sig mentions an Nvidia card).

I have an ATI (upgraded from GTS8800 640 mb)

when I had the previous card, I was one of the first in on a map...although the graphics sucked...

I got the new card...graphics are beautiful...and takes forever to load ha ha ha

as for my sig...I got to update it, thanks for reminding me

But with tanks.. You waste a shot if the driver bails out for a split second.
What does this mean? You tag a tank with a tracer dart, and the driver knows it's there, jumps out, and the tracer dart immediately stops working, then the driver hops back in, and you have to try to plant another tracer dart? That sucks.

I dunno on the spray and pray stuff. Granted, I've only put about a solid hour into multiplayer, but I have no issues killing people with the first assault rifle/engineer gun.

the scoreboard displays round trip latency and is the accurate value to go by. joining low ping servers via the browser will still provide a low latency (compared to others) to the server.

the lowest latency for me has been in the 120-130s

The values in the server browser are the true pings, as they have traditionally been defined.
The values on the scoreboard reflect how far behind each client is from the game state as defined by the server. (Paraphrased from what I have read elsewhere.)

If this is true then I'll probably just stop using darts. That's retarded.

I'm getting fucking fed up with this game - half the time I just can't play it, since the last update I can no longer add favorite servers, and now even my SP campaign has stopped working (CTD during loading). Seriously, who are the retards who programmed this shit?

That would be incredibly stupid, so I don't think it is true. I'm pretty sure I stepped out of a darted tank, then later saw that tank driving away with the tracer dart still in place (in my killcam).
But, I think perhaps it is possible it would break the lock on an in-flight locked-on rpg...just a guess.

You have to use iron sights and use like half a clip, or use it all. Dont pot shot, just use your sights and use as much ammo as you need. Aim for the upper torso/head. Even when you are within say 10m you wont always get him. Problem with taking on medics with an engineer is that medics typically always have full health. Its somewhat of a cheap combo that the medics get health packs and a gun that has 100 rounds per clip, and magnum ammo. Still, when I'm an engineer I kill more medics than they kill me. I use the UZI or AKS, usually UZI these days as I dont need sights with it and get to carry extra rockets. When the medic gets me 1v1 they usually have less than 20 health left. Really frustrating when its single digits. You can also use the CG and just wipe em out with 1 shot. I dont like doing that because I like to save my rockets for tanks, but its not like they rollover to the next round if you dont use them.

If a team is heavy on medics I usually go Assault with AN-94. Theres no need to be married to any single class unless you need to progress immediately for a specific item.

Well, if they guy is too busy hopping in and out of the tank to actually use it then the dart is still doing its job. But there is something going on, as I've noticed the tracer stop working after a short period of time, and other times I can get off like 4 rockets.

Dr Pepper BFBC2 DLC coming "in April"...

==================================================

Spotty Spotting facts from DenKirson
Spotting, like the repair tool, uses "overheat" to prevent excessive Socialize use. The player is capable of about four Socialize button presses in rapid succession before overheating and being inoperable for five seconds.
With the cooldown, the fastest continuous rate that a player can spot without overheating is once every two seconds.

As a completely new BF player, (I'm rank 2 now after a couple of hours of play), I have the same experience where I flank a guy from 90 degress or even like 135 degrees, halfway behind him, squeeze 3 round bursts like I would an AK from CS, and then have him turn after a full second and just kill me.

I'm like WTFFF. I actually got kind of frustrated and have started going full auto with the medic starter machine gun and find myself killing more people that way. In situations where I've flanked people and they don't know where I am, they've more often made it to safety running when I've fired in bursts as opposed to me full autoing them down. In situatinos where they turn and shoot back, it's about the same.

I also found a situation where I was full autoing a guy at pointblank range from inside of a door where he just runs in and knifes me. I'm like what the fuck hitboxes.

The only easy ways for me to kill people are with the sniper rifle or using the mounted tank gun, which I find pretty fun. I can't stand sniping though, as effective as it is, I think it makes games boring.

Anyone have any other firing tips for a complete newb? This game has been pretty damn frustrating so far for someone who likes to run and gun ._.

Thats why I use the AN-94, as its just like the AK from CS. At level two, that doesnt do you any good though. Just stick with your squad, hang back a little, and do the cleanup when they go down. Nothing wrong with vulturing. Once you get better weapons you can play like you used to. Whatever gun you use, in CQC, just go full auto, aiming for upper torso/head. Within a little over 4 hours with the medic, I got the M60. Thats the best gun in the class. Less than an hour with Assault you can get the XM8, which is serviceable. 4 hours with engineer and you can get the AK.

Oh, and dont forget to use your knife. I even bought a new mouse with big side buttons, but I still forget. Its very effective in close range. If you have the 1911, I would almost suggest using that up close than the starter guns. 2/3 bullets from that and your enemy will be down.

I agree with the comments...I have found on certain maps...NOT running...

on previous BF games you could sprint to an area and survey the landscape...then move on

I have personally found that if you do that...you are opening up yourself for an easy kill...

Unless I am in a no win situation...I try to walk from point to point...always checking the angles...usually get killed anyways but at least I know where from

If I am in a pack of players and we are all humping it, then I will do the same...

I guess it is trial and error and see what works best for you. Once you get the maps down it makes it easier...

I've only been playing a few hours, I believe I'm level 10 or 11, and I experienced this as well. I noticed as I was waiting to respawn, there are tips that display on the screen. One of the tips said that SMGs have a low-chance of hitting while moving, which I do think is true from what I've experienced while shooting with an SMG while moving. So what I tested was to crouch first then shoot and, lo and behold, I would hit AND kill my targets much better then while I was running and gunning. I've only tried this with the Uzi and haven't tried it with the other SMGs prior to the Uzi, so I'll have try it with the other SMGs to see if it holds true.
