As a completely new BF player, (I'm rank 2 now after a couple of hours of play), I have the same experience where I flank a guy from 90 degress or even like 135 degrees, halfway behind him, squeeze 3 round bursts like I would an AK from CS, and then have him turn after a full second and just kill me.
I'm like WTFFF. I actually got kind of frustrated and have started going full auto with the medic starter machine gun and find myself killing more people that way. In situations where I've flanked people and they don't know where I am, they've more often made it to safety running when I've fired in bursts as opposed to me full autoing them down. In situatinos where they turn and shoot back, it's about the same.
I also found a situation where I was full autoing a guy at pointblank range from inside of a door where he just runs in and knifes me. I'm like what the fuck hitboxes.
The only easy ways for me to kill people are with the sniper rifle or using the mounted tank gun, which I find pretty fun. I can't stand sniping though, as effective as it is, I think it makes games boring.
Anyone have any other firing tips for a complete newb? This game has been pretty damn frustrating so far for someone who likes to run and gun ._.
Also, as for the recent comments about spraying and praying...
My three comments on this are...
1. shoot in bursts if you want any chance of hitting anything consistently...
2. it sucks, but having better weapons and mods does help...the red dot is very helpful once I finally got it.
3. going against people who have a higher level generally isn't going to end well...
I am finally at level 15 and have some of the higher end weapons...my K/D above 1...
When going against someone who is a higher level I generally get my ASS handed to me either because they are just better or they have 'IMO' god guns like that M60 and red dot...
I have COUNTLESS times gotten the drop on someone or started shooting first at a close range with an engineer gun...only to have the guy with the M60 turn and wipe me out inside of 3-4 seconds...
It is a little disheartening when I am sniping from across the map or a long ways away...hit someone (medic) who turns and knows where I am...points and sprays and kills me but that is part of the game...
