just noticed they mentioned the g36....but there is no g36 in this...that was bf2. The g36c was my favorite gun in that game..

The MG3 is pure rape now, I love it. At least it takes skill at longer ranges because you really have to burst it. Raped so many M60 nubs in CQC, it just owns so hard now in such a roll. MG3 was always pretty beast at closer ranges but it wasn't heads and tails better, now it truly is the king and feels very worthy of being the last medic gun unlock (it might now be the best last unlock of any of the classes). I actually think they might end up reneging this change like they did the AN94, we'll just have to wait and see if the average player has the same amount of increased success as I have.

I suppose I could see too many players not being able to control their bursts and quickly chew through too much ammo. There's also the fact that there are still plenty of reasons to use the other medic guns - the M60 is still probably a bit better overall due its advantages at range, and the XM8/MG36 still serve their longer range / accuracy purposes. Then of course the SAW and T88 are excellent for the 200 rounds when on the offensive where you can't afford to reload (unfortunately the nerf of the T88 doesn't help this situation though). But the new MG3 is definitely full of win IMO. Maybe too much.

The G3 rifle still feels too weak IMO. Its certainly more functional but its still severely outclassed by the assault rifles and I would still probably take the M14 over it.

Its nice they fixed the Garand stats, I've seen a ton more players using it (obviously to get their bronze star) and I've actually been able to use it for the first time since I can remember. I thought I had used it before, but I obviously didn't remember how great its iron sights are, at least in comparison tot he M14s. Those guns should be functionally identical (with the obvious edge going to the M14 for slightly faster reload and 2 extra bullets per mag) but the M14's sights are just an absolute mess as bulky and view restricting as they are. It almost makes me want to go through the trouble of signing up for BF Heroes or something just to be able to get access to it. I'll hold out for optics on the M14 though.

Haven't had a chance to mess with too much else just yet.

Really? Its already lethal at close range, even in Normal...put magnum on it to extend its kill radius. I suppose you're right though, it should naturally be more powerful than the other bolt action snipers.

There's an MG36...its one of the medic guns, the one with the red dot optics already built in instead of an iron sight...

not according to the chart, and as I understood it they all had the same bullet drop. because they were all given the same projectile speed

I couldn't tell you the exact weapon stats and be 100% confident in them, and I'm pretty sure they've changed them over the course of patches, but maybe its purely placebo as I really prefer the other bolt actions over the SV98. Then again, my main sniping days were before the last patch in April and I'll rarely go it now. If I do its just with the GOL or one of the auto snipers because I'm more of an assault class type of sniper where I put the recon balls to use.

I'll admit I have been seeing a lot more players use the SV98, but then such players tend to be lower ranks so I've just assumed they were noobs that didn't have access to the better rifles.

Thanks...I'll try this later today. Most of my heli controls were flipped except for roll, I believe. Definitely throttle and yaw. Hard to say, b/c when a few things are flipped, the whole experience is so disorienting...

I think I got the info on how to reverse the axis on the joystick off the EA UK forums, stickied at the top, but I don't see it there now.

Turned sensitivity up to max. Much improved! The game still doesn't recognize my joystick hat (for looking around), or my throttle for up/down, but maneuverability is much improved.

Cool...I'll give this a try. In the meantime, I got my "on foot" settings working again using a backup copy of the BFBC2 folder, which I had made long ago based on some very wise user's suggestion. Crazy that the helicopter controls still need to be worked around and that the joy hat doesn't work...

There was one slight change that I swear was made...in order to sprint, you used to be able to hit "shift" and then "w". Now, you must be holding down "w" first (in other words, you have to be walking) in order for the shift-run to register. Was it always this way? Maybe I just never noticed.

keybindings are all gone as well as the tank sensitivity. guess i have to do the mod in the ini file or whichever setting it was because now to get decent response in a tank in either position (driver or gunner), you have to have the settings set up to an uncontrolled amount when on foot.

helo seems more responsive than before but you still can't be on foot w/ the same settings to be able to use the tank & helo. anybody remember which settings those were to change for tank sensitivity?

Glad I read your post I absolutely hated it before the patch and had 0 kills after about 200 shots. Just tonight I had 2k shots, 498 hits, 27 kills. What a blast!

But today, the author of that tweak said this:

The patch fixes the original problem with the mouse smoothing (essentially making part of my fix unnecessary). I have to test out whether or not the other changes still work with what they changed, but for now the easiest fix is:

Just rename your input folder for now (to like "input backup" or something). The game will automatically recreate that input folder with the default controls if it can't find an "input" folder. You'll have to rebind your controls and increase your mouse speed in-game the normal way.

I'll have a look at refixing just the turrets this evening.

Very cool! Lots of cool info on the graphics you chose.

The leaderboard is fun too. Now I can admire all my idols in one place! I notice some monster teamkillers in the upper echelons of that board. Guess they're playing a lot of hardcore, since it's almost impossible to teamkill in non-HC games.

Can you add additional info to the leaderboard, like maybe score per minute or skill level (which I fail to understand the meaning of, BTW)?

Also, one odd glitch...time played is displaying in seconds (e.g., 400000). Is there a way to get it to show in hours?

Well I'm finally making a break through so to speak. I managed to lead the leaderboard this morning 3 rounds in a row! Twice as medic and once as assault. Managed to unlock a whole bunch of stuff too, and leveled up twice. So I'm level 8 now...

Some notes post-patch.

Much easier to kill people with any weapon, possibly because of the lag fixes. One round I had almost 10K points which was basically ALOT of revives + pins + awards. Not to mention I went 17/5 that round.

I'm really starting to dig this game now that I'm not so low on the totem pole.

Thank Jeebus they upped the M-Com destroy points. It seemed like they really undervalued that crucial teamwork move with the previous allocation. I'm not sure why I give a shit, as I've unlocked everything, but hey....points is points.

played just a little bit last night. hit some nice leading sniper shots, those hitboxes seem to be more intuitive

no chance to try the knife

anyone else seeing more lag issues? seems like all the servers i tried kept struggling at times.

they still need to improve server browser. they should take all the options and make them checkboxes. like, normal damage model + FF and no kill cam, or HC damage model + FF + minimap.

they had some with more info, but it was harder to read so I thought it was a nice compromise

I like time in theory, but in its current format it sorta sucks

we can have 10 columns, really 12, but name and rank count in that too

a few more notes, you can in theory sort by any, but SPM and W/L and k/d dont sort right, and accuracy isnt right. I see random #'s from 0-4, so thats worthless

haha i have the most teamkills on the leaderboard. most of those are intentional though because i run into a lot of morons who would TK me on purpose so i would sometimes dedicate my whole round to killing the morons over and over. they would shoot me while i am in the UAV or kill me for being a sniper on rush. have to teach them a lesson.
