Some one is yakking about DICE "drastically lowering" the number of point to unlock things, since the beta, on the EA UK forums. Not sure how they would know this. I can't validate this at the moment. If you're one of those that just hate the entire concept of unlocks ("everyone should just get everything and have an even playing field"), this will probably be good news. Link

I think after playing the demo, I'm sort of impressed by the gameplay, although I find lack of options in the menus to be disturbingly console-esque... like not being able to bind to mouse5, or not being able to set yaw factors for vehicles separately from infantry, etc.

I don't know about vehicle yaw(s), but I had no problem binding my 6+ mouse buttons.

I was reading that you dont switch to a knife like you did in BF2 , that you hit your knife button and you use your knife then instantly ready your primary weapon again. Are grenades like that too, you hit a button and throw them and your primary is back in your hand instantly?

If so I might have to get a mouse with extra buttons to map those functions.

Yep that's how they are. Much better and faster imo. I map them all to mouse buttons.

Yep, one of the *good* things they appropriated from CoD, IMO.

I thought the unlocking went pretty fast, especially if you're assault D:

Assault seems to be one of the slowest next to Recon. Engineer you can hide behind a tank and repair the crap out of it forever or blow up vehicles/tanks from afar and Medic you can heal and revive everyone.

The wait for this game is killing me, in the mean time I've made a spreadsheet of most of the weapon statistics.

I'll be posting it up shortly along with graphs. Looks like the AN94 will be the king of assault rifles.

Fuck you, dick head. I shouldn't have to play a game obsessively to have access to all of the content I fucking paid for. It pisses me off that I spent half of the summer playing TF2 and still don't have access to all of the weapons. Unlocks shouldn't require players to be socially deficient video game addicts.

the game play seems to be exactly like BF2 though, so it might as well be BF3

To me it's too different than BF2. No big large maps that takes you a long time to get to the objective is the main reason why it feels so different. Everything is very close compared to the classic Battlefield games.

I only played on 1 map in the PS3 demo. I guess the map was a bit smaller than a regular BF2 map, but it was still fairly large.

but combat, vehicles, and everything else pretty much felt exactly like BF2.

Are you basing that on the rush map alone or do you know that none of the other maps aren't much bigger?

Back the nerd-rage bus back into the station, Kiwi. I'm agreeing with you. Those guys are the ones arguing for an unlock system that will

"SEPARTE THE NEWBS FROM THE L337Z0RS LOL. WHERE IS MY MONSTAR ENERGY DRINKZ>!?11"

I don't think it should be done in an evening but I don't think it should take months to do, either. It's not an MMO.

Take a deep breath.

I can only base that on the one map we've all played. If there are big maps like the classic BF games then awesome but it doesn't seem there are going to be any that alrge.

I dunno, for some reason I just brought in crazy points running and gunning while blowing stations up. Medic was the second easiest for me (lul defribulation).

Tab, you've been spending all of this time looking in to the files for weapons stats, are the points required to unlock something documented there?

I'm just curious if the guys at BattlefieldBadAss pulled their stats out of their, well, ass.
