good to know my efforts haven't gone in vain, although the 50% win rate basically says I'm not a detriment to the team but I'm also not a tremendous asset to the team.

I'm sure people will have nothing better to do and manipulate their W/L stats though or value e-peen way to much and switch to the winning side just before the round ends.

This will probably be the place for stats once it gets launched.

Has anyone else been having problems with their friends in this game? I used to have 5 friends but now it shows 0. Earlier today I had this weird situation where it was saying that my rank was private 1 and I had 0 kills, etc but I still had my unlocks for some reason.

I also have not been able to find the [ATOT] server for about 3 or 4 days now. Lots of weird stuff happening with this game...

You are confusing your registration code with the VIP code.

On the console, you needed the VIP code to download the day-1 maps. And future "free" DLC (some supposed to come later this month). This links the content to your EA account, which you can't sell with the game. That way, if you resell your game, the next person has to pay to have the "free" DLC everyone else is playing.

There may be other paid DLC which will have nothing to do with your VIP code.

AFAIK, DICE has been mum on any paid DLC for the PC. They don't need to hear the bitchin. Doesn't mean they don't intend on having some eventually.

So how do you get the maps? is it part of the regular patching or do you have to download them?

My Veteran status is still borked in-round, though fine on website & in-game menus. I just can't bring myself to play Medic with no Medic box/defib, Engineer with no Repair Tool, Assault with no Ammo box. If all that's left is Recon (the only kit where the Veteran early unlock is a non-essential), but playing Recon won't get me the teamwork items I'm missing, and since I'm not a kill-everything-that-moves kinda player (if I was I'd be playing CoD4 still), it just makes me not want to play at all. Boooo. I even submitted a formal EA Support ticket with my logged-in EA Account on Support.EA.com and got the auto-reply "we'll reply in 24 hours" but not a word after that.

I hear what you're saying, it's just tough to even pretend to wrap my head around the fact that I'm a Medic w/no first aid or defib. Until I unlock those two things (which are farther than a couple matches away for a player like me who doesn't rack up 50 kills/round) I'm a soldier without a purpose.

I'm the kind of guy who gets more frustrated at the little things that are supposed to work but don't, than I do at the huge Epic Fails that everyone else rails against. "What? EA servers down completely? Oh well, can't play. <shrug> Dragon Age, here I come!" "What? I could play but I'd have to play without these Veteran items I've been assured I'd have from the get-go? Raaarrgghhh!!!!" Yeah, I'm crazy. I know. My wife tells me all the time.

Trouble with that is, I'd be working towards unlocking mortar strike and another sniper rifle, not the ammo box/med box/defib/repair tool that by rights I should already have (and had from Day One in the Beta). This is happening globally since last nights outage.

When they are released your game will auto-patch them in.

Yeah, this disappeared with one of the earliest patches, along with the Garand.

It seems like with each patch, they are disabling something to lessen the server load at EA, doesn't it?

Feel free to provide feedback here. He's open to corrections.

The next two maps in March (actually, two new modes on existing maps) are said to be free. After that, who knows?

Not the worst but pretty damn bad. It sucks cus it's a good game. There's been worse launches but the games were just as bad as their horrible launches.

Demigod and America's Army 3 were two relatively recent launches that were worse than this in being completely unplayable rather than only intermittently unplayable. I can think of several older games with bad launches as well. I don't think the BFBC2 launch is that bad, at least there's nothing fundamentally flawed with the gameplay or multiplayer system.

The launch of Far Cry 2 multiplayer was pretty god awful. First no dedicated server files. Weeks go by. Then they released them, with a broken admin interface. Weeks go by. People were pretty heroic figuring out how to admin the server using Punkbuster commands. The worst was they had a rule "no joining a ranked match in progress". This rule was never removed to this day. Doomed the thing from the beginning. Waiting in a lobby 10-15 minutes every round for it fill up. Starting the game, a couple of guys leave, and it's becomes totally unbalanced, with no way to fix it. When the round ended, it dumped you back in the game menu, off the server you were on. No way to automatically play several maps on the same server! Their master server took a dump on a regular basis also.
FU Ubisoft! That's all I 'm going to say about that.
