Do anybody know about the min. hardware requirements on PC?

This has been asked many times, the answer is always "we will not know until closer to release". They are still optimizing, and balancing features to things to include/support vs. performance. Only after they draw the line in the sand on features will they be able to nail this down.

those recommended specs aren't that high really. you can build a pc within those specs for under a grand easily.

I agree, I'm already running well above that, but it's nice to see a game that isn't catering completely to consoles (MW2) and is actually bringing some game.

think i will be waiting for bf3.....i just hope they don't fuck it up - hope they just take bf2 and go from their and add to it, not take away, but who knows what they will do. imho, a commander is essential in that type of game, so is bf3 commanderless or bf:bc2 or both? being expert commander i have turned the tides of many a battle w/ a willing team of course. if they take it out, it will just be team deathmatch

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is commander-less.

I've read many people say they are going to skip BFBC2 and wait for BF3, because "it will own". We have no idea at all what they will do with BF3! Fans are so fickle, it takes the slightest little thing that they disagree with and they say they will never touch it. DICE has lots of time to do something stupid with BF3.

Don't sit around waiting for BF3, I personally don't expect it until 2012. Live for today. Just keep watching to see what they bring to the PC version of BFBC2. DICE is making the right noises here. If you liked BF2, I think you will like what you see.

Up to now the games from the developers at DICE had not been known for their outstanding widescreen support. But the latest part of the Battlefield franchise, Bad Company 2, most likely will support AMD's Eyefinity and offer a wider FoV on multiple display setups.

As our colleagues of the Widescreen Gaming Forum learned from a recent post of a DICE developer at the EA forums, the technology is currently tested and the full implementation into Bad Company 2 is not impossible. While some users thought that a wider FoV on multiple monitors might result in an unfair advantage, DICE apparently doesn't have such concerns.

With Eyefinity the developers of the game support the second technology that is currently offered by AMD only, since Nvidia has not released any DirectX 11 graphics cards yet. Although the system requirements don't list such a 3D accelerator, Bad Company 2 will nevertheless support DirectX 11 features.

that's funny, for a long time dice was reluctant to give bf2/2142 widescreen support with the excuse that it'd give players unfair advantage. i knew that was load of bs.

Added info about new map to O.P., Panama Canal Source

Panama Canal features a tight battle with abandonded industrial buildings, vehicles, large ships, and piles of debris everywhere with billowing smoke off in the distance as the surrounding forest rages of fire while the surrounding city is bombarded by enemy ballistics. The map has a four flag setup, with two flags being more focused on vehicle warfare with IFVs and MBTs. The center flags are infantry focused and the team in control of either centre flag will get access to an attack helicopter or an AA vehicle respectively. (conquest mode)

Well, if you are willing to fight through bad mechanical translations, here is some info on the single player game from gry-online.pl, a Polish web site associated with IGN:

Thanks for the thread. I've put a lot of hours into the PS3 beta, but stopped because I don't want to get tired of it, and I want the PC beta as well. Didn't know there was that many vehicles! On a side note, after using the Spas-15 and another shotgun or two, if you equip the accuracy and the clip doubler bonuses, the things act like sniper rifles. It is quite awesome..I just wish I could equip accuracy and double ammo.

Here is a first look at one of the new gameplay modes, Squad Deathmatch, on a new map, Laguna Presa:

Battlefield: Bad Company 2's New Multiplayer Mode
It pays to have friends in DICE's next entry to the hallowed series.
by Nate Ahearn

December 18, 2009 - Anyone who has played the Battlefield series before will tell you that the experience is meant for mass hysteria online. You and your pals engaging in some of the greatest skirmishes to ever grace the small screen is why Battlefield has endured so well over the years. So it stands to reason that EA Games is leading the PR charge for Bad Company 2 by feeding members of the press new multiplayer maps and modes bit by bit over the last several months. Yesterday was no different as I made that same drive down US-101 to Electronic Arts' Redwood Shores studio to play a new multiplayer mode and try my hand at two new maps in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, due out March 2 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The first batch of new content included the map Laguna Presa and a new mode called Squad Deathmatch. Squads are something that permeates just about every multiplayer mode in Bad Company 2. The idea is simple: you and up to three friends form a mini-team of sorts within the larger group of players. There are two big advantages to forming a squad. First, you can hit the back button (select on PS3) when you see an enemy and his location will instantly pop up for the rest of your squad to see. The second strategic advantage allows you to select one of your three squad mates as a spawn point so you can instantly warp to their location. It's great fun to be in a firefight, struggling for survival, only to see a teammate spawn right next to you and clean things up at your side.

The mode, as I said, is called Squad Deathmatch and it plays as simply as it sounds. You and your squad have to be the first to get 50 kills (kill limits can be changed in the settings) by eradicating the opposition which consists of three other teams of four players (at its max). Aiding you -- or perhaps the other teams if they capitalize first -- is a vehicle specifically designed to eradicate soldiers on foot. It's the sole vehicle in this mode so capturing it is of the utmost importance. The maps that you'll find in Squad Deathmatch are specifically tailored to the mode, with certain areas designed to provide a strategic advantage to the vehicle while the opposite is true elsewhere. It's also cool that, depending on what multiplayer mode you select, you could get an entirely different portion of the map than you would in another game type. A map's total area can be up to 64 square kilometers and every piece will surely be used by one mode or another.

The map we were playing on, known as Laguna Presa, is home to gobs of lush greenery that seemed to pop off the screen a bit more than any of the colors in the first Bad Company. There are large shipping crates situated around the level that act as protective cover from the marauding tank that chops down soldiers. Laguna Presa also changes elevations quite often -- with both high ground and low ground -- and includes plenty of shrubbery which makes for an easy hiding place for snipers. Unlike other games, the camouflage in Bad Company 2 actually works pretty damn well. Just ask the knife in my character's back.

Oops, almost forgot, Hardcore Mode confirmed!

If all of these fancy perks and abilities aren't to your liking -- perhaps you think it makes the game too easy -- DICE is adding a hardcore mode to increase the realism. Here there will be no kill cam after deaths, no HUD to speak of, and the amount of damage you can take will be decreased dramatically. Good luck to those who want to play in this mode. I know I never will.

Check out the links to see all the details.

Here is a mechanically tanslated article from a German web site, with the first word from a person that actually played BFBC2 on a PC!

Warning, translation is very ragged!

Comments about the article (and author) on the EA UK forums:

"He is not allowed to talk about everything yet, but he told us that these red triangles are still in the PC version."

"He also told that the graphics look much better than PS3 version.
This is a newsseries and there will be 2 more news from him.
Hopefully he will tell some things we don't know yet. " Source

This game is seriously looking better and better. I was a bit skeptical, because Bf2 has such crap hitboxes at times, but this is looking great.

Only thing I'm not sure about is the weapon selection...these aren't exactly the most original weapons, besides the XM8, and that's been canceled.

The squad deathmatch is an AWESOME idea, I love it. It brings a little anarchy into the teamwork mix.
