Wish I had taken a screenshot of this last night. I've been messing around with C4, loaded up an ATV with six of them, and drove it right into the middle of enemy base right after we had just taken a set of mcoms.

The detonation literally sent two guys flying sideways further than I could see where their bodies landed. I was so busy laughing I didn't even try to avoid being shot (which happened pretty quick).

So actually just started playing this last week, already up to level 4.

Few observations I've noted

There is something glitchy especially sniping that I've repeatedly hit people without them dying. I've seen the blood plume and nothing...even headshots.

Ugh base engie stuff SUCKS quite hard leveling with him.

And so far I enjoy conquest the best. With rush a close 2nd. Never was much for deathmatch.

noticed the same with sniping when starting out, it's usually a 2 shot kill until you unlock magnum ammo. (even with a headshot) at least it was for me, i was like this gun probably just sucks, but once you unlock magnum ammo, most guns are pretty good.

it's easiest to level up with the medic in the beginning. and i only use engies on levels that are vehicle heavy. i stopped using the gustav and have found a love for mines rofl

This is part of the unlock system I really dislike. I'm rank 31 or something now so it doesn't effect me directly but it's really discouraging for new players. Somebody who's played a bunch is able to kill in 6 hits due to magnum damage (I'd imagine the vast majority of players non-engineer players use it most of the time) whereas a noob has to get 8 hits.

I saw a friend of mine struggle his way up to level 15, he's really not very good, but his kill rate seemed to jump up a fair bunch from the moment he got magnum.

Well I'm glad it's not just me...cuz yea I'm a long time FPS player and it was quite frustrating! Well still is. But I've always considered myself a decent player. Just had to change tactics due to the early guns. I've taken to ambushing alot of times especially as medic or assault. As it allows me a jump on most people. I actually managed to get a triple kill last night as a medic it felt pretty damn good. Especially since two of the guys were level 40+

twitter.com/Bazajaytee: "Waiting on hearing back from QA still. @zh1nt0 will update everyone when he has news though."

Sounds like good news is on the way...

And on an unrelated note, I just thought I'd mention that it's good to see that new players are still joining the BC2 ranks (and this board). I realize it's frustrating to come in against veterans with their perks, but you do get rewarded pretty quickly. Also, it's very helpful to join a squad with higher-ranked people on it, because to some degree they can carry you along with them. I always score higher when I'm on a squad with other good players.

yea just stick with it, it's pretty brutal until you level up a bit, once you hit like 23 ish, its like hitting a brick wall, takes forever to level after that. you should have all unlocks by ~25-26. and i tend to use engie 90% of the time as its good all around.
i just switch between mines or rpg/tagging depending on what enemies are using. if i want to assault, i use the ak74, if im defensive, i use the ump.

Of the four bolt action sniper rifles, all but the SV98 will kill even a 100% healthy armor perked player with a single headshot at the max distance/minimum damage...without magnum ammo. If it was taking you two "headshots" with the M24/GOL/M95, you simply weren't hitting the head on the first shot.

In fact, magnum is actually a pretty silly perk for bolt action snipers to be messing with, because it should always be 2 shots if you miss the head...unless you're doing something funky and playing an assault sniper with a bolt action...then magnum can help extend the range of your one-shot-kill with torso shots (again, all 4 bolt action rifles can do 100 damage without magnum ammo at close range. Magnum extends that damage to 125, so the distance before the damage drops below 100 is extended out). And thus I'll generally go with something like the explosive perk to help my mortar strikes, or I'd choose spotting scope if it wasn't broken

I'd never thought of mortar strikes being boosted by the explosive perk at all. I always justified using magnum on the bolt-action rifles partly because half my kills seem to be mid range, and also I thought that if I body shot by accident I'm more likely to net a kill from a wounded target.

Speaking of sniping...they're implementing a workaround for the dodgy hit boxes when sprinting. I wonder if this is going to have a dramatic change on snipers in the game. At the moment it's almost impossible to 1-shot a target moving across your screen, and bearing this in mind, you can make some really bold sprints straight across a sniper's field of view, knowing that crappy hit boxes will save you.

You've had some pretty impressive posts recently. Thanks. You're quite the analyst....
I don't see your tag in the call sign thread. Care to share? What times do you play?

I'm stuck at 27 but I still really dig this game. It bums me out that there isn't really any L4D style VOIP cooperation, which the game is ripe for, but I still dig it nonetheless 115 hours in.

I am still having the issue where I cannot see server pings in the browser. I remember reading something about having to be an administrator, but I am operating as admin in windows 7 already.

being an admin user isnt enough because they messed with how user rights work

right click run as admin

you can do it to your steam shortcut if you want, that would take care of it

It doesn't work for me either. If my favorite servers are full and I need to find one with a good ping, I usually search for Chicago in the server name (or CHICAGO, since those DICE dumbasses in their infinite wisdom decided to make searches case-sensitive).

http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/...196780-client-r8-server-r15-release-info.html
After a lot of trials and tribulations, all versions of the game client has now completed QA successfully.
We will do no more testing on it.

All game servers will need to be taken down for updates. The maintenance period starts on Wednesday Jun 30th at 07:00AM (GMT+2). Most of them should be back up by 11:00AM (GMT+2).

During this time window, we will also release the new game client.

Check back after 11:00AM (GMT+2), and try out the new game client!

Might be an interesting story posted tonight also...

The client patch is approximately 890MB large. The list of changes is pretty much the same as is listed here. I'm going to write a post which explains some of the background behind the delays later tonight.

What does mean?

It means they are rolling back the changes they made to the weapons last patch.

UZI gets better long range damage.
AKs74u gets additional recoil.
G3, VSS, SemiAutomatic rifles settle faster between shots
PKM gets better long range damage
Type88 LMG loses some base damage
G3 gets some extra base damage
AN94 loses some long range damage
40mm Shotgun increases its max range
MG3 does more damage
Saiga12 loses some lethality at long range with slugs

So tonight was productive I'm level 5 now, managed to lead the scoreboard(twice!!) and generally just raise hell. Had a really good squad for about an hour which helped tremendously. I'm deadly with the GL...

And I managed to kill someone with de-fib paddles it was fucking hilarious.

That and I killed multiple people with the knife...however one guy took 4 stabs to kill no joke. Totally weird.
