Parry > Dodge. Both may be avoidance, but dodge pushes back your swing timer where parry actually decreases it for the next attack. Doing so will help mitigate the one thing avoidance does to you as a warrior... hurts that little thing we call rage generation that you get from being hit (or hitting or pots/skills).

Too bad Blizzard never figured that out... all that damn dodge on all the gear and no parry in sight!

Now, if they greeted you with tea and crumpets, they wouldn't be elitist jerks now would they .

well right now my hp is 11145 and my armour is 12280. Gorespliff on Wildhammer if you can get to armoury. parry sounds like the way to go. It explains why parry rating does so little % wise compared with block rating and dodge rating.

Elitist jerks forum is where the top players, GMs, and sometimes the lead designers post and hang out. The only reason why it's so popular is because of the huge amount of theory-crafting there.

At least you didn't post on the official Blizzard forums.

I was in such a good mood after Arena'ing last night . Ignoring the 12 minute queues on 2's (I had to choose the night before calculation to do my matches). A fury warrior (lol) and I (combat rogue) went 5-3 only losing to well-played teams with good healing.

I must say I  proximo quite a bit. I highlight someone and get all the information I need about them. Give me an inspection add-on like I used to have and I'd be happy. Like last night... 61-point frost mage and Ele/resto shaman... I select the mage and see some crappy gear in his portrait (after checking the shaman). I just say, "mage has crap gear, kill him first, CC the shaman." Bam, that mage dropped fast .

I think the only team we probably should've beat was a holy priest + combat rogue. Although, I probably would've had to have had better gear (the warrior has PVP gear, I don't have much) and possibly a different spec.

This one two-mage team was kind of funny though. They beat the warrior down pretty bad. I killed one of the mages and went after the other mage. I start beatin' on him and instead of killing the warrior at 5%... he kept casting Arcane Explosion . I guess they had no idea what to do when their uber dual AP+PoM+Pyro failed to one-shot anything .

rogue+priest is one of the better 2s teams, 2nd tear to Druid+warrior or lock

2V2 really should be renamed to 2vDruid+* once you get above 2K thats all it is druid lock or druid warrior, 10 min ques and a 15 min game just suck. i had a druid lock vs druid lock game go for 35 min, after that i just quit playing 2s

I appreciate their work to crunch numbers and all and I do use it, but I know what you mean. It's not just them either. I find any wow player who obsesses over optimization when it comes to things like spec, addon usage, and some gear setups to make the game much less fun to play. There are a couple in my guild and sometimes I think they get off to making fun of other people's specs. Granted, you gotta optimize yourself quite a bit in this game if you really want to play with the big dogs but there such a thing as too much if you ask me. Simple execution triumphs far beyond most picky optimization techniques.

The only Druid+<something> team we ran into was a Druid+Paladin team. They beat us because I get raped by feral druids (I miss MoD and sure could use some better gear). For example... I have a feral druid friend that could kill me in around 2-3 hits >_>. 4000+ damage Ferocious Bite FTL.

I normally play with a lock or a priest though. With a priest, we had a very close match against a well-geared paladin+warrior team. It literally came down to the warrior vs me and the warrior had about 100hp left at the end. That kind of conclusion somewhat pisses me off though... because that team didn't win out of skill... they won because of their gear. If my team had full PVP gear (even season 1), we'd have destroyed that team. Although, when we win with crappy gear, it does give a bit of satisfaction .

So i'm working on an alt (52 gnome warrior), what lvl can I go to BC? It's taking me forever to level, currently in un'goro. Maybe I shouldn't of rolled a warrior but I find it kind of boring. But I'm holding off so I can just tank instances in BC. any suggestions for lvl'ing fast?

2.3.2 is supposed to be live today. Can anyone confirm?

General
- /timetest is a command that can be run to provide information
on game performance. /timetest 0 turns the command off. When the
command is issued, the next time a player uses a flight master to
travel, certain statistics will be measured and displayed at the end
of that flight. All weather effects and spawns are shutdown during
the test.
- Effects triggered from being critically hit: Many abilities and
talents were changed in 2.3.0 to allow them to trigger from critical
strikes that occurred while the player benefitting from them was
sitting.
- Quest givers with blue question marks no longer show up on the
minimap.
- NPC's who you have completed a quest for will display a question mark
on mouseover rather than an exclamation point.
- The bank controls for the guildmaster level of a guild is now grayed
out. A guildmaster always has full access to a guild bank and this
cannot be changed.
- A "Withdraw-Repair Only" button has been added to the guild bank
controls. If this is set for a guild rank, then that rank cannot
actually withdraw funds from the guild bank, but they can still use
that daily amount of money for repairs.
- You will now automatically stand up when attacked, even if the attack
doesn?t land.
- Boat and zeppelin vendors and NPCs are back on duty.
- Reduced network latency by disabling the Nagle algorithm.

Druids
- Lifebloom: When this ability is refreshed it will take on the
strength of the incoming Lifebloom effect, rather than maintain the
existing strength.
- Ravage: The damage multiplier on this ability has been increased from
350% to 385%.

Hunters
- Arcane Shot: Ranks 1-5 will once again deal bonus damage based on
attack power.
- Aspect of the Viper effect increased.
- Freezing Trap is no longer limited to one target at a time.
- Pet leveling speed has been increased.

Mages
- Cold Snap (Frost) cooldown reduced. It is now in the Ice Block
position in the talent tree. This ability will no longer reset the
cooldown on Fire Ward.
- Conjure Mana Gem mana restore variance substantially reduced,
(Rank 5 ? Emerald) now restores 2340 to 2460 mana and has three
charges.
- Ice Block (Frost) is now available on the trainer to all mages at
level 30.
- Icy Veins (NEW Frost Talent) decreases casting time of all spells by
20% and increases the chance your chilling effects will freeze the
target by 10%. Lasts 20 sec. 3 min cooldown. It is now in the Cold
Snap position in the talent tree.

Paladins
- Crusader Strike (Retribution) now causes 110% of weapon damage and
no longer gains any bonus from spell damage.
- Righteous Fury: This spell will no longer cost twice the listed mana
to cast.
- Sanctified Judgements (Retribution) now returns 80% of the Seal's
mana cost, increased from 50%.

Rogues
- Ambush: The damage multiplier on this ability has been increased from
250% to 275%.
- Cheat Death: When multiple attacks land simultaenously, all those
resolved after the attack which triggered Cheat Death will now have
their damage reduced by 90% as intended. However, the combat log will
still report them doing full damage.
- Hemorrhage: Rank 4 of this ability no longer has its charges consumed
by non-physical attacks and spells.
- Hemorrhage weapon damage reduced from 125% to 110%, but the damage
debuff has been increased.
- Hemorrhage: This ability now correctly does additional damage when
its debuff has already been applied.
- Preparation now resets the cooldown of Shadowstep and no longer
resets the cooldown of Adrenaline Rush.
- Shadowstep now adds a 3 second, 70% movement speed increase.
- Sinister Calling now also increases the percentage damage bonus of
Hemorrhage and Backstab by 2/4/6/8/10%.

Shaman
- Lightning Shield mana cost reduced.
- Water Shield now restores mana periodically regardless of how many
charges remain. Duration increased to 10 minutes.

Warlock
- The health cost taken from the Warlock after using Health Funnel will
now remain consistent between uses.

Warrior
- Defiance: The expertise granted by this talent now works properly in
all stances.
- Warriors no longer lose rage when using a macro to enter a stance
they?re already in.

Professions
- Cooking
Goldthorn Tea was erroneously unlearned by most players who had
learned the recipe. The recipe has been re-enabled and can be
learned again from Henry Stern in Razorfen Downs at no cost.
- Enchanting
Enchant Shield - Resilience now requires a Runed Fel Iron Rod instead
of a Runed Adamantite Rod.
- Leatherworking
Increased the range of leatherworking drums to 40 yards. Drums of
Panic remains unchanged at 8 yards.

Items
- Amani Charm of the Witch Doctor: Tooltip typo corrected.
- Hearthstone: The cast time on this item is no longer affected by
spell haste.
- Hex Shrunken Head: This item now has a 20 second shared cooldown with
other similar trinkets.
- Icy Chill Enchant: The triggered effect from this enchantment will
now cause a melee slow and movement snare as intended.
- Idol of the Unseen Moon: This item now has a 30 second cooldown on
being triggered.
- Idol of Terror: The triggered agility buff from this item no longer
overwrites other agility buffs.
- The Netherscale Ammo Pouch is no longer a Unique item.
- The Knothide Quiver is no longer unique.
- The Vengeful Gladiator?s Grimoire is now available on vendors.

Dungeons and Raids
- Heroic Coilfang Resevoir- Steamvaults
Mekgineer Steamrigger's Main Chambers Access Panel is no longer
interactable until Mekgineer Steamrigger has been killed.
- Tempest Keep- The Eye
The number of Blood Elves guarding Prince Kael'Thas' room has been
reduced.
- Zul?Aman
The Amani'shi Warrior's Charge ability now has a minimum range.
The melee haste provided by Halazzi's Frenzy has been reduced to
100%.
Dragonhawks in Zul'Aman can now be skinned. This doesn't include
dragonhawks that do not have loot.

Quests
- Blade's Edge Mountains: Players accepting the bombing run quests in
Blade's Edge Plateaus will no longer cause other players in the
region to stand up.

User Interface
- There is now an option to turn off the screen edge damage flash when
you have a fullscreen UI up.
- You can sell stacks by dropping them on the merchant window again.
- Ready check (/readycheck) will now display a visual display of each
party/raid member's status next to their name. This will display in
the Party UI, the Raid UI and the Raid pullout UI. A player will get
a check mark if they are ready, a question mark if they have not
replied and a red X if they are not ready or are afk.
- You can now see raid members on the minimap as dark blue dots in
addition to party members which still display as light blue dots.
- You can now shift click names while the petition window is open to
paste them into the petition.
- Fixed various problems with /castsequence getting stuck.

properly display you wearing the item made by the recipe in the
dressing room UI.

Bot to be used.
- Creatures with random player targeting crowd control abilities such
as fear, charm, or sleep will now properly choose a random eligible
target rather than just choosing the nearest eligible target.
- The various Hallow?s End broom mounts now have their proper real-time
(rather than game-time) duration of 14 days.
- Tricky Treats now have their proper real-time (rather than game-time)
duration of 24 hours.

Some things I'm curious about this patch...

So Pat is the cause of all our lag!

I wonder why they raised these two? I've been ambush crit for over 3000 damage before on my rogue (gotta love not having MoD).

Originally posted by: CalvinHobbes

It needed an increase?

Originally posted by: CalvinHobbes

So this means that if two mobs travel over the trap at once... they'll both freeze? If so, that's pretty crazy....

Originally posted by: CalvinHobbes

I don't think this is necessary unless your pet is significantly below you in levels. I'd say 3 levels or more below you should have increased leveling but 1-2 levels below you should be normal.

Nice.

See, I'm not sure if Blizzard intends for this to be a PVE change or a PVP change. I could see them looking at it as both... they want mages to have better survival in PVE when it comes to getting in sticky situations or pulling aggro. But this also adds a huge amount of survivability to PVP.

Bye bye AR+Prep rogues . Essentially, you need Sinister Calling now to get the same amount of damage back out of Hemo.

Nifty, this makes me want to try it more.

Originally posted by: CalvinHobbes

Sweet, I always thought it was too expensive to use while I leveled my shaman. I tried to be a bit cheap on the mana use to avoid having to rest too often.

Sounds like it'll be like Water Shield + BoW now.

I think they should just remove tactical mastery and let warriors keep 25 rather than 10. Heck, they're buffing other classes giving them survival-based moves yet keeping rage can be essential in fights as a warrior.

I do all the zones now and get up to 62 before I go to Outlands. Doing this lets me hit 70 when I'm in Nagrand. I usually hit 62 while I'm in Silithus and I usually only finish half the zone (I don't like the bugs too much).

EDIT:

Woops, hit Quote instead of Edit .

So i'm thinking of leveling an alt...i have an 18 druid and a 42 lock currently on the server my main's on (warrior). What do you think? Should i stick with one of those (which?) or start a new class?

Not on this server, but I've played: a pally to 18, a hunter to 7 (lol), a shaman to 26, a mage to 20, a rogue to 35 and a priest to 60 (ages ago, way before BC). Just looking for a bit more detailed info on end game for these classes.

that i disagree with. i hit the portal at 58, there is one guy there with a quest to go through the portal. once in in outlands there are a series of quest that take you on a "tour" if you will on the area around honor hold. I was rested by 2 days and was getting 1300 exp per kill, combined with that exp and the exp for the quest i hit 60 in just under 20 hours of playing time. the gold rewards and armor/weapon rewards are serious upgrades.

so i say as soon as you hit 58 hit the portal and get the first quest from the guy in the camp just outside the portal. the quest are fairly easy and not spread out all over the map like some zones are.

my 58 priest was able to kill lvl 61 pigs and orcs with not too much problem.

hit Un'goro then hit felwood then winterspring. do all those quest and you will hit 58 quickly.

main reason i recomend being 60 allready is gold, having a 2 lvl buffer means you hit 70 sooner which means more gold, also as a warrior or any mele class, some of the outlands quests are a PITA at 58, when i did it on my rogue i was in full T3+ naxx epics so it was easy, but i have lvled other chars through there and in lvl 60 greens its a PITA especially when mobs come in 2s

many people suggest going though at 58 and doing those first few quests for the rewards and then going back to lvl to 61 or so and then go to outlands perm

Warriors a pretty decent... However, every class has a bane, in fact, serveral. The only class that I think is dominant would be the druid and the warlock. The druid because if he cannot beat you, he can run from you and there is very little you can do as a warrior. You can spam hamstring, but if he turns around and actually fights you (depending on his spec) he can destroy you. I am really well geared in PVP and some people I dominate and others dominate me. It is the nature of the game.

The player skill and their talent spec can easily determine the outcome, in addition to the luck of crits,dodge,parry,etc... and what not. For instance, went up against a warrior who had 'second wind' and my mace space (stun) kept procing his heal. I checked the logs and I stunned him 7 times that fight. Needless to say, he destroyed me.

That reminds me... Last night me and a decked out rogue were attacking a Paldin. I am sporting 1600AP (could be better), but this Paladin had some serious mitigation. Me and Rogue were attacking this dude for 3+ minutes while he laughed and threw off an occasional heal. He never really needed one in the first place either... Normal hits for 800 a pop are doing about 120 damage to him and I think the highest crit I had him him was 400 damage... It was sick, because I can hit hunters and mages for crits of 1600+ I dunno, I just know it was the most insane thing I had ever seen.

At 58, run to Outlands and never look back! I leveled from 58-60 in about 4-5 hours. Insanely easy and simple (most of them) quests.

Sometimes chosing the spec just to be the best warrior, or a top warrior isn't worth it if you lose your style and origonality. To each their own.

When has Blizzard ever cared about balancing PVE and PVP with a change? Also, Blizzard has been constantly trying to get rid of the idea of necessary talents. That's why they let warriors keep 10 rage on stance switch by default and adjusted tactical mastery.

I think Feral Druids can be just as bad sometimes. Especially since they have very high mitigation in a tanking set. The high mitigation of some of these classes is why I like having a caster on my PVP teams.

our feral druid MT has 33000 or so armor armor and 48% to dodge in his tanking gear
itll take him 10 min to kill you in PVP but if you are a mele class you might as well just give up
