My son and I showed up for first-showing matinees both yesterday and today, which were both sold out. We finally saw it this afternoon at non rock-bottom prices.

Was able to see it on Saturday for a noon showing. Took my daughter (8) and she loved the movie and I thought it was great. They did a good job of integrating everyone into the movie.

I loved reading Secret Wars as a kid. I personally didnt find it to be quite as good as Crisis on Infinite Earths. Still very good though! btw, I still get a little emotional when I re-read issue #7 the death of the pre-crisis (the best version imho) Supergirl :'(

Secret Wars I was awesome.

Secret Wars II... meh, too many crossovers with the monthlies. I was a college student at the time and couldn't affort to buy every book in the Marvel stable just to get 1 complete story. And the story wasn't all that fantastic, either.

Yes, they are. I read an article a few weeks back that talked about the overall plot point of the movie, but I can't remember what it was. I think it was about some other planet/realm from the list that they talked about in the first Thor movie.

Aha, Green Hornet.

Green Hornet reminded me a lot of Seth Rogen's other awful, terrible, atrocious movie, Observe and Report. The movie had decent premise, but it failed hard because it essentially gave us a bunch of unlikable characters that were not fun to watch.

At least in my experience, we watch heroes because we want them to either be a badass/anti-hero (i.e. The Punisher) or a selfless hero (i.e. a lot of superheroes). Green Hornet did not have any of that. I think they tried to present the main character almost like Tony Stark, but they failed to present the charisma that makes people like Tony Stark... oh and Seth Rogen is not Robert Downey Jr.

Green Lantern failed for one of the reasons that I mentioned above. It presented us a hero that was not heroic. For almost the entire movie, the main character pretty much complained. It wasn't until the last 5-10 minutes that I was actually getting into the movie, because he finally became that selfless hero who was willing to sacrifice himself to save Earth.

I highly recommend seeing The Avengers in a packed theater. The reactions from everyone is something you rarely get anymore, and it adds a lot to the experience. Plus seeing it on the big screen is well worth. This is from someone who cannot stand going to the movies anymore, by the way.

You realize The Avengers was a pre-existing story, right? They didn't simply find some blockbusters and combine them on the fly.


Is that Gross sales? Because our group of 5 shelled out some $60 for tickets. I'll also bet that Dark Knight does as good or better. Maybe even Spiderman... the latest trailer actually had me wanting to watch it.
