Most of the time it's "while supplies last" but the past 2 times I was there they gave subs out for what they ran out of, and instead of the mail-in rebate they made it instant.

I'm also interested in the video card... I have an old GeForce3 Ti200 which is 2 years old now. I'm sure it would be a big upgrade, but I'd still rather not get a 9600SE. A Pro would be awesome.

Do you think they'll bring in new stock for the sale? As of today, my store only has a shelf tag (and space) for the 9600SE. There is nothing for a plain 9600 or 9600 Pro.

Is the 9600SE a lesser model than the plain 9600? You never know why the "special editions" are special.

Sadist - I don't think so. Best Buy counts the coupons whether they're mounted on the McDs game piece or handed to the cashier individually. When "I" choose to redeem the coupons is not restricted in the Terms and Conditions, provided they're redeemed by December 31st, 2003.

The length of the line has no bearing on how long it will take the cashier to count the individual coupons. And does this also imply that people who would ordinarily pay by check should not use a check that morning, because everyone will have to impatiently [using your words] wait while the cashier attempts to get the check approved? What of the cashier thinks the person is using a counterfeit $20 bill or stolen credit card? Maybe no one should go that morning, because any one of us might inconvience another? The form of payment the buyer chooses to use has no bearing on the day, event, length of line, or whether there are impatient people waiting in that line. But it will provide an opportunity (time) to tell others about the DMCA and how Best Buy is frivolously manipulating the law, and/or even handout copies of the Best Buy's BS DMCA notice.

Does anyone have confirmation on the Radeon 9600 yet? My BB has been out of all flavors of the 9600 for at least a week now, and I'm not sure if they even have a tag up for the regular 9600... I need to get something to replace this POS GFFX 5200 that replaced my dead GF4 Ti 4200.

obviously this is getting away from the spirit of the thread, but i was under the impression that those Best Buy $1 off coupons, you had to turn them in to Mickey D's and they turn around and send you something actually redeemable at BestBuy....that's not the case?

My BB has the 9600's locked up behind the counter. There was NO TAG on the shelves for these. But, when I told the guy I was looking for an ATI 9600 and did not see one (or even the tag for one) on the shelf, he said, "Yeah. We have them locked up."

So, if you are looking to buy today (running the risk that BB will not PM on BF, as some have suggested), make sure you ask someone to look in the most secret of places -- "in the back."

I called my local BB (Manchester, NH) about opening time and supplies. The CSR said they open at 6AM on BF and supplies are really limited, that they are gone in 15 mins. So that Radeon 9600 may have to wait.

Well, I thought I should chime in on the MAG LCD discussion. I am going to assume that this will be the same 19" model they sell in store and have had various $50-$100 rebates on in recent weeks. I actually bought one and took it home for a week, then decided to spend the extra $35 and get the new Dell 19" instead.

So - my thoughts on the "current" MAG 19" BB is selling are:
- Came with no dead pixels (always a plus).
- Came with DVI input but no DVI cable.
- Speakers were adequate for a "Home PC" application, but not a true gamer.
- Lack of height adjust was a little disappointing, but I like my monitors high.
- Screen brightness and contrast were in the good to very good range.
- Ghosting was minimal - I had to work to produce it.

To be honest, for $430, this would not be a bad choice (assuming the BF model is the same one). But - if you are a gamer, are really picky about ghosting, or want built-in USB ports, then I would go with a different model. I love my new Dell, but hey - it was $200 more than the MAG will be.

yes REBATES suck! sales made mostly through mail -in rebate is very WEAK...haven't had any good experience with mail-in rebate
