Maybe the Benghazi committee intends to keep Hillary answering their questions indefinitely, day after day, month after month. They can prevent her from doing anything else, including running for President.

Clever devils, these Republicans.

So Benghazi in a Nutshell.

1. Embassy asks for extra security due to fears of attacks, calls are ignored no extra security.

2. Attack occurs, calls for help. no help coming, somehow the calls for help do not make it to where they need to go?

3. people die, eventually an element is self-deployed to the embassy to provide needed help, but is a bit late at this point.

4. profit??

Some guy just called C-SPAN and said "I'd like to know why there isn't a white caucus in Congress"

Wtf. Is Secretary of State supposed to call all of the ambassadors to say "hey there buddy, how's it going over there?"

Holy shit, they are still interrogating her?

They were already well into it when I walked by the TV at 11:30 this morning.

Edit: Oh and apparently they're still talking about the same shit again. I guess they are just going to keep repeating everything and hope she loses her cool.
Queen Hillary told the committee that she would appear once and only once. Evidently she has the power to make those kinds of proclamations and have them stick. So, if she is only going to appear once, it's entirely within the realm of possibility that it will be a long day.

I heard some news analysts saying it could go on until midnight. What we're seeing now is only the third of four sessions scheduled.

She's doing well and looking presidential. They should have more meetings

I noticed how she's not being cut off from fully explaining her positions like the Repubs have been doing all along.

And it's pretty hilarious how some on the Repub side have been using those "answer yes or no" boobytraps that came straight out of those old episodes of Perry Mason.

So far, IMO, it's either a wash or tilting slightly in favor of Hillary. This, from the viewpoint that there is still that attack going on against Hillary's chances for winning the presidency, only on a more discrete and subdued level.

Which might make sense if each congressperson wasn't asking the same stupid question 20 times*.

* That's a low ball estimate.

The repubs are pathetic. This hearing will only help to motivate the base to get out and vote. 2016 will be a blood bath for repubs, I'm calling it now.

We are 9+ hours into this. HRC is a machine. This 67 year old woman is an absolute boss.

This is where her being in "the game" for so long is really coming into play. That the subject of the Repub's attempts to wear her down and make her slip up was brought up was a good move on the Dem's part.

I think the longer she's testifying the better she looks.

Another explosive Repub backfire in the making?

Someone just posted in the msnbc.com stream:
at what time does this become a hostage situation?
haha

Edit: Cummings just dropped the mic. This is epic.

And now HRC is giving a stump speech. Amazing.

This is a huge political backfire.

Reading this snippet from Wikipedia makes it look like Clinton was not exactly doing a bang up job.

According to a local security official, he and a battalion commander had met with U.S. diplomats three days before the attack and warned the Americans about deteriorating security in the area. The official told CNN that he advised the diplomats, "The situation is frightening, it scares us."[61]

Ambassador Stevens' diary, which was later found at the unsecured site of the attack, recorded his concern about the growing al-Qaeda presence in the area and his worry about being on an al-Qaeda hit list.[62]

U.S. security officer, Eric Nordstrom, twice requested additional security for the mission in Benghazi from his superiors at the State Department. His requests were denied. According to Nordstrom, State Department official, Charlene Lamb, wanted to keep the security presence in Benghazi "artificially low".[63]

On December 30, 2012, the United States Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs released a report, “Flashing Red: A Special Report on the Terrorist Attack at Benghazi,” wherein it was determined:

In the months [between February 2011 and September 11, 2012] leading up to the attack on the Temporary Mission Facility in Benghazi, there was a large amount of evidence gathered by the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC) and from open sources that Benghazi was increasingly dangerous and unstable, and that a significant attack against American personnel there was becoming much more likely. While this intelligence was effectively shared within the Intelligence Community (IC) and with key officials at the Department of State, it did not lead to a commensurate increase in security at Benghazi nor to a decision to close the American mission there, either of which would have been more than justified by the intelligence presented. ... The RSO [Regional Security Officer] in Libya compiled a list of 234 security incidents in Libya between June 2011 and July 2012, 50 of which took place in Benghazi.[64]

The desire of Hillary Clinton's State Department to maintain a low profile in Benghazi has been cited as the reason why the State Department circumvented their own Overseas Security Policy Board (OSPB) standards for diplomatic security.[65]:74-75 In the aftermath, Secretary of State Clinton sought to take responsibility for the security lapses at Benghazi and expressed personal regret.[66] However, in her January 2013 testimony before Congress, Secretary Clinton claimed security decisions at the Benghazi compound had been made by others, stating, "The specific security requests pertaining to Benghazi ... were handled by the security professionals in the [State] Department. I didn't see those requests, I didn't approve them, I didn't deny them."[67]

The Republicans aren't helping themselves by hammering Hillary constantly. They're only "battle hardening" her for the debates to come, giving her a taste of the heat that will be coming her way in advance. She's adapting and polishing her speech craft to perfection with help from the GoP. The woman is becoming the Tywin of American politics.
