Sorry SaltyNuts, that's not even close to being the best breakfast in the world. That looks like any generic diner food. It could be from Waffle House, IHOP, Denny's, etc. I could make the same food at home with my eyes closed with one hand tied behind my back.

Was going with IHOP myself.

I'm with Salty on this one. That does look like the best breakfast, and since it's so easy, you can go just about anywhere and have it made right. The best thing about a breakfast(or any meal) made for me, is I didn't make it. Having someone else prepare the food automatically adds a star to the score.

Oh I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, if I were hungry I'd scarf it right down. Just nothing special.

Exactly. It looks good and I'd eat it, but it's not a tiny little bit special. Every diner in the country serves that made the same way.

And I'd rather have that at 2am after a night out instead of in the morning.

It may not be super special, but it sure looks good. And imagine a world where that got taken away and was hard to find/get. You'd think it was special then right?

100% in agreement. It's easy to become complacent and take things for granted. I'm just giving SaltyNuts crap because he trolls us all the time. But if SaltyNuts no longer posted here, I would miss him/her. I love everyone here.

Ding ding ding!!! Captante gets the gold star!!!!

Seriously, I don't know HOW they make their breakfast so good. Their pancakes are literally TO DIE FOR. I've tried various copycat recipies, nothing can touch it (if anyone has any suggestions to copy them I'm all ears, although I don't hold out much hope it can actually touch their pancakes lol). Sausage, perfect. Eggs, perfect. GENERALLY, my only gripe about this meal to go was that the eggs, which I ordered over easy, were instead cooked over hard (or whatever its called, the yolks were fully cooked instead of runny). Hash browns, not great, cause hash browns rarely are great, but very very good for what they are. In short, IHOP ****RULES*****!

This guy knows! Sit down, order, they bring you out a glass of unsweet ice tea with extra lemon right away, all I have to do is sweeten it with however much sweet n low I want to use, enjoy my beverage, then in like 10 minutes out comes a plate of pancakes, a plate with the eggs, bacon, sausage and hashed browns, warm syrup, and extra butter. Just chill, relax, and enjoy. Then when I leave they have to do the dishes lol.

1. looks like chopped up pancakes with a weird syrup.

2. up your ass with a ham sammich.

1. Yep, I just cut up my pancakes and then apply syrup - most people are lazy and just add the syrup and don't cut them up, but that results in an inferior syrup-to-pancake ratio per bite. I'm not lazy, I want the best.

2. Biscuits and gravy are THE BOMB, I agree 100%. But not at IHOP. Cracker Barrel? Yup. Grandy's? Oh hell yea. But IHOP, you gotta go with their PERFECT pancakes!!!

Is that from Waffle House? If so, your choice of Hash Browns is kinda boring. You gotta get those suckers smothered (onion) and chunked (with ham).

I could go for biscuit with sausage white gravy right now. I haven't had that in longtime.

Naw, IHOP. My mom used to love those Waffle House hash browns smothered, chunked, whatever, all the way. Never did care for them really.

They really are the most underrated breakfast food. Sooooo good. But IHOPs pancakes? Even better.
Pancakes are ok but waffles are better. It's probably been about 20 years since I last ate at IHOP. There's really no dish at IHOP that can drag me to go there even though there's a location about a mile from my house. From what I remember, the food at IHOP was average at best and pretty mediocre. I have way better restaurant choices around me but who knows how many will survive this COVID-19 depression. For restaurants, this is a depression. To support my favorite local non-chain restaurants, I ordered sushi again from my favorite Japanese restaurant last night for dinner, and tonight I just picked up and ate Thai food from my favorite Thai restaurant. I've only eaten food from independant local restaurants and none from national chain restaurants during this coronavirus pandemic.

Those eggs look overcooked to my liking. I enjoy a nice runny yolk that I can use my toast to sop it up with.

You say you just found it average or mediocre, but I have to tell you, the vast majority of people disagree with you because they are PACKED every weekend morning and early afternoon with people wanting their breakfast. Other places, including mom and pop places, not nearly so much. Well, at least before the beer virus I mean lol.

Yea, if you read my OP I talk about that - I ordered them over easy, but the yoke was fully cooked. Not sure if they HAVE to do it this way given the take out - this has NEVER happened when I sit down and eat there, they are always perfect.

IMO, the best breakfast is a line of coke and a hit off the good ol' crack pipe. Really gets you going!

Obviously your mileage may vary. If you like IHOP, continue to eat and support them. Like I said, I have way better restaurant choices around where I live, and I can also cook much better food than IHOP at home without trying. The ingredients I use are way higher quality than typical Sysco and US Foods stuff IHOP uses. For example, I have several different brands of genuine maple syrup I use with my homemade waffles. If you like fake maple syrup, IHOP is for you. And waffles > pancake so my homemade breakfast is better.

I'd say mediocre is generous from the times I've been there. I always hold my tongue when we're in a city for work and people want to go to IHOP instead of a local place but I die a little inside.

Yeah that's because everything there has a shit ton of sugar in it and Americans have an unhealthy obsession with sugar.
