You joke about John Tesh, but he's seriously a great musician and songwriter. I'd respond with Tesh except I've got 3 of his CDs and I listen to them fairly often....
Most of my CDs I listen to often....I guess the best one that for some reason I rarely bother to play is Kiva which was a collaborative by Steve Roach, Michael Stearns and Ron Sunsinger. I got it for $1 and basically these 3 well-known ambient/trance/new age/native american artists got together and sat in on some native american peyote rituals and then sat down and wrote songs about it. It's a great album but for some reason I never play it.
Honorable mention to Dadawa "Sister Drum" and The Grateful Dead's Hundred Year Hall...
