I have been lookin around for many months for nice speakers at my house on a budget. i found these at less than half my budget. These will slaughter most 600$ to 800$ speaker setups around.

Fluance AV-HTB
Fluance AV-HTB

get them here or on ebay

Fluance

AudioReviews 4.7 out of 5

Reviews.

more reviews.

I guarantee you will love these speakers. i have read so many rave reviews on these...finally after hearing them i was amazed.

I know this thread will not generate a ton of traffic but it deserves it.

There's more reviews out there (that might be better sources than the website itself ), and so far all look good. If you want a lot of bass, it looks like you need to add a sub to the system.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed by the reviews I've seen for that price, though.

i am not a audio expert...more of an entusiast...but i always recommend a subwoofer.

personally i prefer a lot of bassand wish i had the $ for velodyne, carver, etc...
but i cant

i havent personally heard this sub SONY SA-WM40 but it can be had for 100$ to 150$ and is supposed to be an excellent subwoofer.

Got a set! Been trying to put together an inexpensive surround sound system to keep the kids home on weekends. I have already purchased the 15" sub that many AT'ers purchased when Amazon was selling them cheap. Next is a surround sound receiver. Got my eye on a few and waiting for a deal. Made a mistake when the Onkyo reconditioned was selling for $300 and not getting them then.

Ebay is $189 w/$44 shipping and two banana plugs. Slightly cheaper than the Fluance site.

As long as an amp (i.e., a receiver) sits between your computer and the speakers, sure.

Hmmm... I dunno... There aren't any reviews on FLUANCE AV-BP2 Rear Surround Speaker Bipolar ... I've always wanted to try out Bipolar speakers. Who knows tho. The specs look good.

Someone that is into HT buy these and let us know!

Hah!

Those are the ones I have been looking at as well. They seem very simialar to these
PolkAudio Speakers that I have been watching on ebay!

I know what you mean, I made this same mistake last summer with the Denon 3802 6th Ave deal! Hopefully another deal will be coming soon!

Pair these up with a Sherwood RD6108 from CC when its on sale for $129 (was about 3-4 weeks ago) and I think you could have one nice budget system.

Also if you need a decent sub and decent price the 12" powered sub at Parts Express is pretty good for $99.

As far as a nice budget receiver, you might look into the Panasonic HE-SA70K (can be found for $140 refurb) or the HE-SA100 (slightly nicer and supports 6.1 instead of 5.1) (about $199). Both can be had on eBay. They're a good value; Consumer Reports (not an authority at all, admittedly) liked them a lot.
Other very popular budget receivers are the Yamaha HTR-5550 and the Onkyo TXSR500 -- both a bit more expensive but from better names. The Yamaha gets quite a few rave reviews.
Good place to look for reviews like that is www.audioreview.com. Good forum and a epinions-style rating system; do a search for "best budget receiver" and you can find dozens of threads full of people giving suggestions.

In the market recently for a 5.1 or 6.1 HT set-up. Don't know if I should split everything (set of speakers, receiver, sub) and buy them separately or if I should just get one of those systems you always see advertised in Best Buy or Circuit City for like $300-$500.

Haha, funny.
Anyways, I have been lurking in the background and finally decided to sign up and post.

I have the BIPOLAR and the CENTER channel from fluance. In all ways, i am impressed. The value and quality, you cant beat. As it says in the reviews, you have to break in the speakers. After about 10 hours of play time, they will open up. BTW, you need a sub with these speakers. KEYWORD: NEED a sub. the speakers are lacking in the bottom end.

I'm interested in their center channel speaker. What are the experiences with, and/or the whole 5.0 set?

This system certainly seems to be a great deal for the price?almost *too* good to be true. But the reviews look promising and if I needed an inexpensive system I would probably give these a try.

I hope this is not off topic, but if anyone is looking for what is in my opinion the best value in a very small bookshelf speaker, listen to the Paradigm Atom. At about $180/pair they are truly spectacular. If you want accurate and smooth speakers that will fit almost anywhere and sound great, give these a shot. The only problem is unless you stumble across the odd eBay sale or classified ad listing, you have to buy them at a Paradigm dealer. It?s worth the bother, however. Do a Google search for Paradigm Atom and read any of the reviews. Sitting in front of these with your eyes closed---you?d never believe how small they are.

Hey, I think some guys in a van tried to sell me a set of these. They said that the warehouse mikstakenly loaded the van with an extra set and that cause they thought I looked like I appreciated fine audio that they would sell em to me fro like 400... I said no thanks and the price started dropping top like 100 bucks... too good to be true? I think so.
