At this level the Onkyo 5.1 with subs are on sale at Shop Onkyo for $200, because they are phasing it out for the 6.1 at $300

ONe nice thing about audio is that a 10 year old system is not in a garbage dump with a 10 year old computer.

Depending on your reciever you should have ALOT more power behind these things. Also, with different sizes of drivers, you probablly will get a fuller range of frequency response.

I just got a set last week and they are well worth the 200 bucks. Also, spend the extra 100 bucks and get the dipole surrounds, they are a nice addition. Defiantly better deal then some of the nicer brands you find at BB and CC.

I really couldn't find anything else comparable to close to that price.

We will see what they sound like in week or so.

Ascends are by far the best sounding speakers I've herd, I am very happy with them. If you can afford it they are very well worth it. Usually most speakers are a matter of taste. From everyone I've demo'd them to, they also think they are great. They might not be the "prettiest" speakers out there, but the performance and sound quality I'd like to see a set that cost 2-3 times more come close...

I have had these for 4 months now. I am very happy with them. No complaints for the price. I am sure I posted this earlier, but I still like em alot. I have listened to other high end equipment before... of course these are not as good but for $200 they blow away anything you would get at best buy or circuit city.

These speakers have interested me for awhile. I just bought them to play with for my 2nd system along with that $99 kenwood receiver refurb. I may do some surgery on them to see what can be tweaked as well and to get more information on what makes them tick.

For the hell of it and for fun I am going to play them on my main system which has the Wilson Watt Puppy 5.1 setup on it.

If you are for real... your you first system costs what, 500 times as much as your second. OK so if you open the Fluance - tell us what kind of drivers they are (no name chinese?) and how well they are put together.

Well, IgoByte, I was never a general - just a sergeant half a lifetime ago. However, I purchased a set of the home theater HT-SXB about a month ago and am very happy with my purchase. I have them roughly positioned and cabled, but will wait for final positioning and cabling once it cools down some. It's just too durn not to be up in my attic now.

how much better is the SX-HTBs compared to the AV-HTBs? it's about 80 dollars difference, but I am willing to pay more for some more performance. Plus from the specs, they are designed to handle a lot more power and the tweeters are all 1'' instead of 3/4''. The mains also have matched 6.5in woofers for midrange and bass. Anyone who bought the SX-HTBs wanna give some inputs?
