Amazing game that was conceptually really cool. Basically a first person strategy game.

You know, one of the original devs is still working on Battlezone, he released a big patch last year which makes the game run on modern PCs with support for xbox 360 controllers etc. The entire game is freeware now.

every player except one per team played it like a FPS, and the final guy on each team commanded the real life people as if he was playing an RTS. really cool idea.

I've heard this about the NOLFS but never played either. I can tell you I always chime in with Undying, System Shock 2, the Thief series and Deus Ex. I tell you, these games are just not being duplicated. Developers are missing the boat. Maybe Bethesda's games or the Bioshock series... but they just don't make them like they used to [/ obligatory old gamer comment]

MDK2 (Dreamcast) (Total sleeper hit of epic proportions, adored the game, still own it)
Red Faction (PS2) (The original's release I believe wasn't preceded by much hype)

I loved the first MDK. It came bundled with my iMac rev/B (second version of the Bondi Blue original). Played it a lot.

Red Faction was not really a sleeper as it was very popular, but it was a great game. First FPS with destructible environments.

Dude i remember playing this when i was little. My brother was obsessed with video cards, and I believe this game utilized some propietry Voodoo3 tech that made it look great.

Sacrifice was an amazing RTS/3rd person hybrid.

Would Shogo: Mobile Armored Division be considered a sleeper? I honestly don't recall how it sold back in the day (not well enough to warrant a sequel). Amazingly enough, I really dislike anime but I loved that game and still play it through once a year or so.
