Is there a scene in the movie that explains why it's called the butterfly effect?

I thought that was a great movie. But then again, I like dark movies & movies that deal with the effects of 'time travel' (BTTF, the new Flash TV show, etc.).

The concept is based on chaos theory. Basically the idea that a butterfly can flap its wings in California and, through a domino effect, eventually cause a hurricane in Florida. That every action affects every other action & multiplies over time with unforeseen consequences:

That's the point of the movie...he goes back to change stuff, but ends up making it worse because he can't control all of the variables & outcomes.

Also, this was the first show I had ever seen Ashton Kutcher in. I was pretty shocked to find out that he was funny, like in the 70's show. Same with Kurt Russell...first thing I ever saw him in was Stargate, as a super-serious military guy, then I saw Overboard and was like whaaaaaaat the heck

Come to think of it, I don't know if they ever explain it in the movie itself. Does he even tell anybody what he's experiencing? Been so long, I don't remember!

I wanted to see that when it was in the theater. But my paperboy threw the paper on my sprinkler. That deflected the water onto my neighbors car as he was backing out of the driveway. He got blinded and hit a tree. That toppled onto the power lines which fell across the road. The power company sent out a repair truck which got a flat tire on the way and they had to pull off the road. While waiting for a tow they stopped for lunch and ordered french fries. That caused a grease fire which burned down the theater next door and I couldn't go to the movies.

while kaido is posting, he neglects to see a suspicious looking man walk by outside holding a bloody knife

as a result, he does not contact the authorities to apprehend the suspicious man

because of this thread, indirectly, the suspicious man will become the most notorious serial killer of the 21st century

I have no idea. I just remember everyone liked it, and was surprised that Kutcher could play a serious role and do pretty well at it.
