Adam isn't Jewish - he just has a Jewfro.
I thought he was. He's always making comments about it or cracking Germans.

I enjoy the show much more than TG:USA. Carolla very much reminds me of Jeremy Clarkson if he were Jewish. John Salley needs to go and be replaced with someone that has maybe been in the industry.

those shows have also been on the air for years
You're absolutely right and I totally get that. However, that being said, these proven/refined platforms provide valuable insight into a successful formula for reviewing a car whilst making it entertaining. I'm of the opinion that cloning those techniques and then slowly adding their own touches would appear to make a great deal of sense.
Both TG:USA and The Car Show (TCS) are guilty of spending entirely too much time on something other than cars. To be more specific, gimmicky "comparisons" and "competitions" that aren't even remotely enjoyable to watch. Yes, TG:UK seemingly spends more time with this than they used to, but as you've stated, their hosts have had way more time to perfect their craft.
TG:USA seemingly spends 80% of their time on one dumb segment, another 15% on a poorly done interview and track lap, and 5% on a single car review. TCS is all over the board, typically spending more time talking about cars, but still wasting too much time silly segments. Both shows need to jettison the majority of their respective hosts.
Top Gear US needs less silly truck segments.
Top Gear USA seems to have gotten worse since season 1 in regard to their... shall I say "stage presence"? The show is almost entirely clips! It almost feels like a basement-made, fan production of a Top Gear series rather than a professionally-made production.
TG USA is just challenges now and that irritates the hell out me
The Car Show, like TG:USA, is insufferable. Other than being a glutton for punishment, I don't know how I manage to get through these lackluster offerings on a weekly basis.
The "0-60" segment has some potential, but it typically ends up being a vehicle for Carolla's schtick. The few actual car reviews they do are boring and typically end without drawing any conclusions or offering insight. The "competitions" are just stupid. Anytime someone is interviewed in the studio, it makes me cringe. Finally, the slot-car races and Carnac pieces need binned...immediately.
For the record, I like Adam Carolla. He appears to have some car cred and it is a shame that his humor gets in the away. I feel if he took a more serious tone, wielding his humor with finesse and subtlety instead of like a jackhammer, the show would be more watchable.
John Salley is a complete waste of time; everyone knows this.
Dan Neil comes off as a pompous ass. There's just something about him that rubs me the wrong way. It seems obvious that he has a great deal of knowledge, yet listening to him talk makes me want to punch him in the face.
Matt Farah seems to have some potential. He seems most like a "regular guy" and also appears to have some real information to share. He provides a nice contrast to, say, Neil, but could use some additional polish.
And like TG:USA, where are the frickin' in-depth car reviews? You can often make the same case for TG:UK, but when the UK show does provide a real review, the cinematography alone usually has me drooling like an idiot. At least the UK hosts have some charisma and the writing is light years ahead of the competition.
As it stands, TG:UK and Fifth Gear are the only car shows worth a damn.
Very much agree with your analysis of TCS. Carolla and Farah are good enough, but the other two need to go. John Salley besides being an NBA star, has no business on the show as he contributes little. Neil is just an ass. He seems to prefer minivans and boring electric cars which is great, but for a show like this, you need someone that also like gas guzzling monsters. I can only equate him to Jules relentless posts about Maximas, bikes and the Elise
