Look it isn't that complex. I have 32GB of ram; the drives were 128GB and they did not contain swap. The system was not windows and the only thing contained on those drives was the home partition (most of the data is on a different set of disk and the boot/swap is on yet another different set of disk).

Having too little RAM could explain it. All that stuff being pagefiled but you don't feel it because the SSD masks the writes.

XPG SX6000 PCIe NVME Gen3x2 M.2 2280 128GB SSD with DIY Heatsink (ASX6000NP-128GT-C)

$54.99 - $10 Newegg gift card

I ordered "a few".

Edit: 256GB has deals too.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIADF16MV1034

$119.99 - $20 promo code - $5 gift card (does NOT say "Newegg gift card", like the 128GB model does)

Guess I would have preferred the 256GB model. Oh well.

Edit: I was able to cancel my order for the 128GB model, and placed an order for a couple of the 256GB models. The gift card does show as a Newegg gift card upon actual checkout.

Update: The Team Group L5 Lite 3D NAND SATA 2.5" SSDs are on sale again:

120GB $39.99 (Sold Out)
240GB $69.99 - $10 promo = $59.99 (still available?)

480GB $119.99 - $20 promo = $99.99 (Sold Out)

I know most are Sold Out, but I'm including this for pricing reference, should someone look at this thread in the future.

(Look! 480GB SSDs down below $100 again. When was the last time that was true?)

I'm waiting for them to drop some more so I can switch over my 1tb regular hard drive to an SSD. Already have a 960gb one for windows. The platter drive I just store stuff on it. That thing has been going for years.

Hmm let me look for that. I may need another SSD cage for my case too if I can get it. Never had the evo drives. I'd clone my existing main SSD and switch it to the evo then use the 960gb SSD for storage instead of the platter drive.

Ended up getting the Samsung Evo 1TB. I think I have enough solid state storage for now

Might just keep the platter drive in there until it dies.

Not sure; but there is a review of this drive from a few weeks ago that said it was $59. If accurate then this doesn't seem to so hot.

Team Group L5 LITE 3D 2.5" 480GB SATA III 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-331-049&cm_sp=17th Anniversary Sale-_-0123-0129-_-20-331-049-_-NA

Additional USD $10 off w/ promo code MYSTD30B, limited offer

$109.99 FS - $10 off promo = $99.99 for a reasonably-rated 480GB 3D NAND 2.5" SSD!

Ends in 13 hours.

No offense, but use your noggin. Has ANY 480GB 2.5" SSD, EVER been as low as $59? The answer to that is NO (*). The secondary answer is, the 240GB model was $59 a few weeks ago, they probably went back and reviewed the wrong model drive, or Newegg is commingling the different capacities' reviews.

(*) Talking about brand-new retail, with mfg warranty. Not enterprise surplus, not used/pre-owned/refurbished/b-stock.

Larry I thought about that when I made the post. Vaguely I think the answer is yes for a model being discontinued but not sure. The problem is I mostly restrict myself to samsung and (before they were sold) sandisk ssd and for the ones I follow no; though I've gotten some evo below $0.30 a gig so I suppose a cheap off brand could be as low as $0.10 a gig but maybe not
-
That's why I put in the caveat in the my post because I considered that the guy might have made a mistaken in the review.

/sad ordered this and got an 'out of stock' email saying that they'd removed the out of stock from my order... also ordered it with an external enclosure and it seems the $10 discount stuck with the enclosure so, $3 enclosure after taxes isn't too bad i suppose. Guess I didn't really need another SSD anyway hah.

From the reviews it seems to have longevity issues so perhaps the out-of-stock was a blessing.

We'll see. |Note that it appears that both the "L5 Lite" (TLC) and "L5 Lite 3D" (3D TLC) reviews have been commingled. If you look at the bad review, you'll see that it was from the non-3D TLC drive.

Edit: What I was seeing yesterday, may not apply, it appears that they are modifying how reviews are displayed, and I may be wrong, there may be some neg. reviews about the 3D NAND variant as well.

That mixing of reviews is so annoying, amazon is terrible about that too.

At least with Amazon, you can single out the reviews for a given product "option". Unless of course they've just subbed one product for another under the same ASIN, which they seem to do more often than I would've expectedo...
