I wouldn't call 1999 classic...

New Order has been around since the late 70's early 80's...never really thought of them as techno..

same with ATB...that's not techno...
New Order started in 1980 when the lead singer of Joy Division commited suicide in 1979. They evolved quickly into techno. Blue Monday stands as the greatest techno dance song of all time.

Perfect Kiss is also a great song by them.

I am laughing seeing the replies in here, since about 99% is far from being techno.

Techno is actually a specific electronica genre, not the entire electronica genre.

That being said, i am not much of a techno expert, but i do know my trance

Was just going to say the same. Good classic trance would be Sasha - Xpander. =0D

Yes, very true.

I am excited, as Sasha is playing here on Thurs.

He plays prog now, not trance, but it's still good

Running by Information Society

I Beg your Pardon by Kon Kan

Oh L'amour by Erasure

Stuff by the Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, etc.

Also, like others have mentioned Bizarre Love Triangle which is probably the #1 of all time.

Edit: A lot of those songs you guys put up are way too new to be considered classics. I'd take out anything within 10 years at the minimum.

All wrong. Correct answer is U96 - Das Boot. Most of the song above aren't even techno in it's true sense of the word, though everyone's definiton of techno is different.
