Robert Miles, this song always reminds of starcraft, because i used to play starcraft while listening to that cd. heh. just the other day i was playing that cd, and then i started visualizing terran scv mining minerals. it was actually kind of sad.

Just post what YOU think is the #1 classic Techno/electronic song. Stuff like "What is love" is fair game too... so what do you think?
Seriously, the number one techno dance song of all time:

New Order - Blue Monday

Stayed on the dance charts for 2 years.

Number one selling dance single of all time.

That is a great song.

Yeah, I made it. haha.

This is hard, because the definition of techno/trance is different all over. So here are my TWO *generic* electronica classic songs.

New Order - Blue Monday
Robert Miles - Children

Oh man, its been awhile since I was...into whatever this genre is suppose to be called for the name nazis. But stuff that I considered electronica or whatever that I liked:

New Order - Blue Monday
Bizarre Love Triangle
Oingo Boingo - Dead Man's Party (Party 'til you're dead mix)
Weird Science
Crystal Method
Daft Punk - Around the World (music video for this rules too)
(I never really liked Da Funk)
Not a big fan of Chemical Brothers
Fluke - Atom Bomb...which I still think I haven't found an mp3 for.
Fluke - ??? Big Bird Spreads the Word ???
Underworld - Cowgirl
Halycron and On and On? (The song goes on and on and on...good though, very good.)
I liked Prodigy a lot...but sort of got tired of them.
Pretty much all of that Hackers soundtrack was great. Pretty stupid movie, great sound track.

Yeah, I'm sure I'm a n00b to the genre just like I am with punk...but meh...thats the stuff I liked.

You HAVE heard 'Children'. Everyone has.

Amazon Link, Track Number 1. (Even though it's the 'dream' version, it's still the same recognizable melody.)

Most people would use the term techno to just describe in general. A proper generic term would be electronic dance music, or edm I guess. Either way I understand what the OP is saying but the list of the songs in this thread range from the cheesy to beyond cheese. Cheese is good every once in a while =)

Check out Andy Jay Powell - The Sequence (Club Mix) or Tony De Vit - I Don't Care for some old classics.

All candidates.

Edit: for the un-imformed, please post the artist and song title

that aint techno my friend, those are cheesey pop house crap that gets played on the radio.

and most of these names that are popping up are just cheesy anthems, not classics =P

that's like calling a romance novel a classic
