Actually quite a sobering process. Having been through the death of my parents, and the wife's parents, and the task of sorting everything out afterward for insurance, accounts, safety deposit boxes, etc., I have decided in the worst case scenario to at least make that easier for those that hopefully will survive me.
I've been working on a spreadsheet with all account numbers, contacts both local and corporate for investments, etc. for family, even sign-on's for utility accounts, banking, as most of these are in my name. Will provided hardcopy and electronic copy when I get it fleshed out to wife, daughter, and adult grandsons.
Think about it, if you have your family on your cell phone plan, they need to be able to at least pickup the payments so they still have a working phone. Or little things, like where are the titles to vehicles, deeds, etc. Being a veteran the wife and I can be burried in the state veterans cemetery, free for me, $200 for wife. Completed that today, and detailing where the info about this is.
The absolute hardest thing I have had to do is ask the grandsons not to come to the house. The oldest is a firefighter/EMT, so he on on the front lines, and the youngest is a volunteer firefighter, still in high school, but will become a firefighter/EMT within a year. They are very loving boys, and always have a big hug and "love you" every time they visit.
Then I see the fucking orange turd spew his unbelievable stupidity and I rage..............
