I was relaxing on the couch in my home theater surfing the net on a laptop when I got the urge to play a classic game so I downloaded the original Fallout.
Its been forever since I finished it (probably 15+ years) so I couldn't remember much but I was surprised how easily I fell back into a rhythm. Within 15-20 minutes I was feeling at home with that ancient interface. It's still really fun for me.
So I headed East, bummed around the first settlement you hit, picked up Ian, cleared the Radscorpion caves, and did some other stuff before finally hitting up Vault 15. There Ian and I carefully cleared out the levels, checking every nook and cranny for stuff. Right as we were near the end I accidentally shot him. DOH
So he turns around and blows me away. No big deal, right? WRONG. The game does't $%^ing autosave. For some reason I was certain it did every time you moved to a new tile, a la Baldur's Gate. At least 5 hours down the %^&ing drain.
Ah, the horrific days before autosave was the norm. lol I don't know if I have it in me to start over.
